I’m sure it can become even better, but it’s already a very cool plugin.
If you like the power of Google Custom Search, but prefer to see results in the standard wordpress search page instead of an iframe with Google-like page, this is what you’re looking for.

I was unable to get this plugin working at all, despite trying every type of API key I could imagine (and getting different error results each time).

Just a heads up, Google recently changed their interface, so to find your API key, you need to:

1. Go to the Google Developer Console (https://code.google.com/apis/console)
2. Create a new project
3. Within that project, click “APIs & Auth” in the sidebar, and then click “APIs”
4. Search for “Custom Search API” and click the “Enable API” button
5. Within the Custom Search API section, click the “View reports in API console” link
6. On the “View Reports” page, click “API Access” in the left sidebar
7. About halfway down the page, click the “Create new Server key…” button
8. You can leave the “Accept requests from these server IP addresses” field blank, and press “Create”
9. Grab the “API Key” that was just generated. It will be a random string of characters, letter, and numbers.

Hopefully that helps. Just a note – this was written April 6, 2015, so if Google updates their interface after that time, these steps may no longer be the same.

Hi. I get this ERROR: “Custom Search API” service isn’t enabled in the APIs Console
while Custom Search API is enabled. please help me to fix this problem and i will change the rating. thank you

This is what a GCSE integration should be!

It might be worth noting on the admin page that a Server key is needed rather than a Browser/Android/iOS key.

Got exactly what I wanted, a custom google search box that fit perfectly into my two column blog. I think the instructions could be a little more detailed for non techie people but I got through it, so thanks! ??

None of the Google branding and much more accurate searching. Hopefully it doesn’t make my site so popular I need to start paying for the extra searches! Good work.

Google functionality without branding and payment. Fast and efficient. It’s my favorite plugin.

Assuming you’re using Google’s CSE to combine websites — or in my case, combining part-WordPress and part non-WordPress from the same website — this plugin works great.

I’d prefer not to have to worry about the Google API (and its 100-search-per-day restriction). That’s my only knock.

Otherwise, it’s really great, and seamless.
