I don’t know the pro version, but the free version doesn’t work. Don’t even try it to install, it’s a waste of time.

It should be simple like add the key and short-code to the page. Who needs this??

This plugin didn’t work for Google Reviews and the other one available got me more trouble than anything I could expect.

“Google Places Reviews makes it a breeze to…” NO.
To actually use it you have to read the documentation, that’s like reading a manual, you shouldn’t have to do it.
No mention on the plugins page in the backend (Settings > Google Reviews) that you can use widgets or shortcodes, or that shortcodes only work/exist in the pro version.
And the widget doesn’t work, it says:
"Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details."
(yes, i did get and add the API key)
I used it on 2 sites successfully before (last year), but i guess that’s over now.
Don’t waste your time with this one.

I didn’t end up going with this plugin since it doesn’t offer a slider view option, but I did interact with support — and it was very helpful. Matt even made an instructional video for me. Worth giving this plugin a try if you’re looking for this type of widget.

Maybe pro version works…highly NOT recommended. Total waste of time.

I had an issue with the plugin I could not figure out. I sent in a ticket and got a response within hours. They went out of their way to troubleshoot this issue. It turns out a caching plugin was causing some of the plugin CSS to not load properly. It wasn’t even the plugins fault! They sent me the fix and it works great. Thanks!

As simple as Google allows it to be. Better than most similar plugins.

not working

They said its free but its not.

Basic version not support shortcode and widget not working. waste of time

This plug in is very easy to use and to create a design look that works for your web side bar or other area of your site. The tricky part can be setting up Google API (outside of this Plug-In but required)
Thoroughly recommended!

This plugin need your Business settings to have the “I sell stuff at my office” option enabled to work well otherwise you will not find your business in the list. Thanks !

The documentation is unclear. The configuration is unclear & borderline confusing. Bordering on funny, the introduction video plays so fast it is impossible to gather any real insight.
I’m sure it’s a great plugin once installed…however, I don’t think I’ll get that far.

APIs are a bit of a pain, but their instructions are excellent! Well worth the upgrade what with Google allowing star ratings with no explanation and no proof of purchase verification.

The plugin has the potential to be really useful, but my experience with it was not so great and I’ve uninstalled it from my site.
The API was easy to generate thanks to Google’s hand-holding instructions.
However, when I tried to use the widget, I got an error message that the map couldn’t load and to check the JS console. No thanks.
I would also like the option to show ZERO reviews, and only display the business name and star rating like the Yelp Widget Pro that I use often. It’d be nice to have the 2 widgets display compactly in the same footer column.
I’ll check back on this plugin in a few months in hopes that the features have been expanded and bugs worked out.

Not so easy to set up with google when you are a complete newbie like me, but I did it and it works fine.

This is an excellent plugin! Besides the fact that it easily pulls in Google Place reviews, it is full of carefully thought out features

Initially the plugin had a conflict with my theme, but the author put considerable time and effort into solving the issue.

The plugin’s idea is nice. However, even I’ve followed ALL the instructions the API Key is not working. It’s giving this error:
REQUEST_DENIED: This IP, site or mobile application is not authorized to use this API key. Request received from IP address 185.98.X.XXX, with empty referer.
I have lost lots of hours trying different ways… I checked this link, it also was insuccessful: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/request_denied-this-ip-site-or-mobile-application-is-not-authorized-1?replies=7

The configurations in the widget are unclear. It’s like the developers have no experience with Google reviews whatsoever. This plugin may be obsolete with the latest Google updates. Safer not to use it.

I tried to set it up. I generated my API key (which it refused to recognize until I regenerated it???) and then refused to recognize the Place ID (which I’ve verified was correct but I still get Sorry, this business does not have a proper Place ID set). I gave up after attempts to read the documentation and search for answers via Google left me more frustrated than when I started. I’ve done everything suggested and still nothing. I would consider paying for the Pro version but TBH I don’t think it’s worth the trouble and the weeks of back-and-forth I would probably have to go thru with the developer to get it working – if that’s even possible. I’ll find something else or another way to do what I want. Between Google’s ever changing settings which are now scattered everywhere and nearly incomprehensible to anyone who doesn’t devote their entire life to the Google ecosystem and this confusingly inconsistent plug-in, I’ve had it.

Yes I know this is a great plugin but I get an error message
Sorry, this business does not have a proper Place ID set.
And the widget does pick up my businesses (2 websites)
For both sites the location lookup works.
I have also confirmed the location place id on https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-placeid-finder
it matched that of the widgets place ID
After I have confirmed this in an email support, I have just received no reply again.

I am going to talk about the Support I received from these guys as it was brilliant. After struggling to get the styling right on the plug I asked support for help. These guys were so attentive. Now this is the amazing bit. They ask me to do something on my site so they could see the code for page. Anyway I didn’t get round to doing it because something came up. Now normally I would leave this and then remember it some time later and have to go through the whole support thing again which is a pain. But these guys actually chased me up, politely of course, and this little bit of management reminded me to do it and for once I got the thing sorted without my usual procrastination that leaves loose ends all over my life.
And the reviews plug in looks great on my site and the shortcode is really easy to work
I am glad I upgraded to the Pro version
Awesome guys keep up the good work

It is not obvious at all but I’ve learned from reading the other 1-star reviews that you can’t use shortcodes with the non-pro version.
This is not at all obvious from the documentation, so you’ll end up wasting time trying to implement this, only to find that you won’t be able to insert the widget onto your page without the Pro version.

No funciona en mí tema, le faltan componentes para funcionar. Hago todo lo que me dice el desarrollador y lo tengo correcto. En fin un desastre de plugin. Lo desaconsejo. No lo bajéis y menos lo paguéis.
]]>Rating: 1 star
Unable to get support. The API key is much more complicated than the few lines of instruction provided in the documentation. Too bad Google doesnt publish its own widget.

I have been using the free version of this plugin for a while and have loved it. However when I purchased the pro version, it was a nightmare trying to download the thing. For some reason, whenever I’d click on the download screen, I would be directed to a page that had nothing to do with the plugin (I suspect AdBlock may have been causing some issues but I’m not sure). Also, the forums were displaying in my browser as text only which made them almost impossible to navigate. They also ran terribly slow and a few of the links I clicked on sent me to pages that would not load.
I reached out to Devin and explained all of the problems I have been experiencing with the plugin and the download process. He did an amazing job responding to my questions in a timely manner and even though we weren’t able to resolve half of the issues I was experiencing, his support changed my review from a 1 star to a 4 star. It turns out this plugin will not work for my business as a result of an unknown Google API issue but I do plan on using it as soon as that is fixed.
Overall this is a good plugin with awesome support… but I still don’t like the forums.

Setting up the Whole google API thing was kind of confusing and frustrating but the support team had my back the whole way which is why I give them a 5-star rating. Great plug-in and amazing support team!
