I’ve had the gPress plugin for a month now and it’s great. My community have over 4,000 users, with 100’s of people creating maps of their own location. Those maps work perfectly. I have a sitewide map with all the users showing on it fine. Yesterday the map stopped displaying. I downgraded the plugin and site doesn’t work. The users individual map works fine btw. My site is swapbbm.com Log in using > test | test. The sitewide map is Member Location
Any help would be great. Thanks.
How do you set the zoom level of the single map using gpress?
]]>Hi Mark & Team! Thanks for the mega update. I’m excited to deploy GPress to one of my site but I just noticed it’s causing a error with the Dynamic Content Gallery plugin and unfortunately, DCG is too much a part of my site to just stop using it. I’ve tried to disable the jquery in the GPress advanced options tab but with no luck. Any suggestions.

]]>I wanted to install “gpress” and uploaded it to my plugins directory. However, as soon as I do so, my backend gives me 500 errors no matter what I try to do. I never even was able to activate the plugin, but as soon as i took it out of the plugins directory everything worked fine again. Has this ever happened to anyone else with any plugin?
]]>Note: I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on the setup. But I did my best in the 30 minutes I spent.
Experience:
Complicated setup for a beginner although I’m not a beginner.
Entered my foursquare key and secret, created a place, tags etc., added the widget, configured all advanced settings -although I couldn’t figure out what they all meant.
Results:
Displayed a blank box for a widget.
Replaced all my posts on homepage with a single map of the place I created.
Having to spend time removing and fixing everything.
Recommendation:
Try this when you get some serious time to invest and if you’re interested in a comprehensive something… not entirely sure of the value proposition. Needs usability fixes. Looks promising. That’s why I tried it. Good luck. Consider simplifying the setup if possible and make sure some sort of error code or recommendation appears instead of a blank box with a title for a widget -assuming I did something wrong.
Again, might be really useful or cool if / when I try it again.
Apparently, this is part of what what screwed me:
Under the download button it reads:
Requires WordPress Version: WordPress 3.0 / BuddyPress 1.2.5.2 or higher
Compatible up to: WordPress 3.0.1 / BuddyPress 1.2.5.2
In the FAQ it reads:
Why does nothing happen after I activate the plugin…?
gPress will only work with WordPress 3.0 (tested on rc3 or more), and once activated, the only new addition you will see at this point is the new places tab in the administrative back-end, right below the Posts tab and above the Media tab. If you activate gPress on anything less than WP 3.0, this additional tab will not show-up.
Didn’t work like this for me anyway, but it does appear some effort needs to be put into a new version.
Good luck!

]]>Hi;
I’m currently playing with your plugin + BuddyPress.
Could you add a filter in the map creation form to allow to set a default value for the address field ?
Here’s my goal : I’ve got profile fields where the user can set his postal address.
I would like your plugin to be able to retrieve this address so the user has not to re-enter it if he already define it before.
I can build the function, but I just need a filter to hook on it…
Thanks !
]]>Hi Mark,
I’m getting a ton of errors while trying to network activate gPress. Can you please check this out. I’m using Genesis series theme with BuddyPress installed and activated.

any idea whats up with those?
]]>currently trying out the plugin:
can’t see much: creates places custom post type with some custom taxonomies. I can manually do that or with another plugin.
it adds Google maps and foursquare maps. Other plugins do too.
what is so special here?
I am sure I don’t see the bigger picture or can’t find the feature that makes it stand out so give me some hints please ??
Besides how about letting users of the plugin decide the names of the custom taxonomies created? I personally don’t like: “tapes of places” and “tags for places”
Also I’d like to call PLACES => LOCATIONS…
any way without hacking the plugin?

Is there any way to make one map on a page and include all post locations using custom fields automatically? I run classifieds on wp 3.0 (multisite) with a lot of posts/adds and adding locations manually would be time consuming.

When I activate gPress with WP3.0, multisite with domain mapping, my sub domain sites break and display “IS SET”. I can’t activate gPress locally so does anyone have some suggestions?
]]>First off this is outstanding!!!
The 4 Square support is really the icing on the cake.
So far from reading and testing with the plugin it seems that you can display 2 maps with one of the map tags on the same page. However you cant have 2 or more locations in the same map. Is that correct?
Also there doesnt seem to be an ability to import locations. Is that correct?
Last but not least.. where do i donate to support this project on payday this Friday?
:o)
GREAT WORK!!
