Was hoping this plugin worked with GF 1.8.9 but sadly… no. Too bad.

I have a form where i want to pre populate some field value using “allow field to be populated dynamically” but when I use Data Persistence the data is erased.Is there any solution for it?

Plugin is currently working with WordPress 3.9.1 and Gravity Forms 1.8.4.
You will need to ammend the plugin using the steps below.
What you also need to know is:
* data is saved as the user goes from one page to another in an multi-page form.
* the user can log off, go to another browser, come back at another point in time and access their incomplete form by logging in and returning to the form.
* the submitted data does not appear in the backend until the user has completed the form.
Necessary changes
Open the plugin file and look in line 134 for:
add_action(“gform_editor_js”, “editor_script_persistency”);
Change to
add_action(“gform_advanced_settings”, “editor_script_persistency”);

I tested this plugin and it was working perfectly until recent WP updates. I now have 3.9 installed.
I also use the following plugins for gravity forms:
I also have the latest of these Gravity Forms Add-Ons running:
– Gravity Forms Coupons Add-On
– Gravity Forms User Registration Add-On

Ok, I think I figured the thing out after a week of it keeping me up day and night. The only way a Gravity Form can save data is as a multi-page form. I haven’t completely figured out the behavior yet but at least I finally have data that stays in my fields when I navigate away. If the developer would only communicate this simple stuff (step-by-step please for those of us not intuitively aware of developer’s logic), he could save so many headaches! Play around with the page break element in the form options. See whether that works. Whoever develops these plugins needs a technical writer (shameful communication…and I paid for the plugin…come on)!!!

Thanks to the developer for their time creating this plugin and offering it for free.
Unfortunately this plugin doesn’t work anymore, even with the fix that was suggested in these comments.
I am running the latest version of everything as of today (Jan 31, 2014):
– WordPress 3.8.1
– Gravity Forms 1.8.3
I also have the latest of these Gravity Forms Add-Ons running:
– Gravity Forms Coupons Add-On
– Gravity Forms Logging Add-On
– Gravity Forms MailChimp Add-On
– Gravity Forms PayPal Add-On
– Gravity Forms PayPal Pro Add-On
If anyone has any suggestions, please share.
Thanks very much.

Firstly its crazy that Gravity forms don’t offer this as standard
Secondly, this plugin failed when attempting to install to WP3.6
It can be fixed however – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/checkbox-to-turn-on-enable-form-persistence-not-staying-checked
Open the plugin file and look in line 134 for:
add_action(“gform_editor_js”, “editor_script_persistency”);
Change to
add_action(“gform_advanced_settings”, “editor_script_persistency”);
Normal caveats apply – back up your data before diving in etc
Good luck!

The plugin does what I need! Great plugin! One action hook needed to be updated though to work in current version of GF.

Can’t say much more than that. I was having an issue with meta fields that weren’t filled out when the form was initially submitted – GF on it’s own doesn’t save meta fields that aren’t created at the first shot. This solved the problem. Thank you.

the checkbox does not stay checked and the author will not respond to any type of contact

The install for Persistence goes OK and it is potentially a very useful add-on to Gravity Forms. The problem comes in Form Settings. The box labeled “Enable form persistence” will not stay checked after updating form settings. This is true even after also checking “Require user to be logged in” is checked and the “Require Login Message” box is filled out. I have tried this in both Chrome and Firefox. Many users on the forums have also had this same problem. There is very little documentation for this add-on and the developer, Astha, is either unable or unwilling to support it. Gravity Forms simply points you to the developer for support, which, after multiple attempts, has been nonexistent. A persistence plugin for Gravity Forms has great promise, but I wish Gravity Forms would put one out so it would work and be supported.

Perfect for long forms to avoid frustration when user navigates away from the form if they are part way through filling it out and they navigate away. Great plugin
