Hi,
I was satisfied for a very long time with this plugin, but now (after updating to Gravity Form 1.8.12) it’s working so well anymore.
The placeholder works fine in my email field, but not in the text field. Does anyone have experienced similar problems?
Thanks for help in advance.

]]>I’ve got a form on a landing page that uses * to denote disclaimers and the client doesn’t want these to come up on the form required fields.
Is it possible to use a custom value for the placeholder field, or is there a way to just remove the asterisk (while still keeping the field required), short of using javascript to hack it off after it renders?
Thanks.

]]>LOVE the plugin but I am having difficulty getting the placeholder text to be clearly visible in Chrome and visible at all on mobile.
Here’s my sandbox site: https://hoodmountainstudio.net/
IE and FF are working just fine.
Any suggestions?

]]>Hi,
Thanks for this plugin, it’s just what I was looking for and it works great ??
Can I make one suggestion to improve it’s accessibility?
In gf.placeholders.js the display of the label is set to none:
var $labels = $(‘label[for=’ + id + ‘]’).hide();
This means that for people using a screen reader, the label is also skipped and the relation label-input field is lost. That way a form gets unreadable for a screen reader user.
Maybe it’s a better solution to hide the label using CSS adding a screen-reader-text class like
.screen-reader-text {
position:absolute;
left:-10000px;
top:0;
width:1px;
height:1px;
overflow:hidden;
}
More info about this you can find at:

]]>Hi,
I have a little problem. I build an form with gravity form and added ‘gplaceholder’ to the form class because every field needs to have a placeholder. The form works with AJAX submit.
Now if i leave the inputs empty and submit the form, the form will validate the fields and shows every field is wrong because its empty but it removes the placeholder, how can i make it possible that the placeholder with stay?
Sorry for my bad english.
Kindly Regards,
Pascal Sopacua

]]>The instructions under “installation” are wrong.
Add the following class to the entire form (or individual text/textarea fields), not “gplaceholder”:
gf-add-placeholder
However
If you want your select boxes to have the placeholder, you do have to use:
gplaceholder
on the select field.

I tried it in the CSS ready class field– but it did not work, not sure if that is because the plugin does not work of if its because thats not where its supposed to go.

]]>I’m wondering if there are any known issues with SSL sites and the Gravity Forms Placeholder Add-on. When I enable it on my site, I can’t scroll through my staff page. You can see how it works here:
https://communitycapitalny.org/about-ccny/staff/#
When I enable placeholders (for that Keep Informed signup at the bottom), the staff stays on the first name and will not scroll with the arrows or with the names on the left.
I love this plugin, but I need both to work. Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

]]>Hi,
So theme developers can remove the placeholder JS on the pages they don’t need it, you should consider hooking your JS function onto wp_enqueue_scripts instead of wp_print_scripts.
Cheers.

]]>Hey.
Plugin works great so far. Thanks for it!
One question:
How can we make stars for required sub fields?
For example, a mail field that is required gets a star for the placeholder text. Very nice. ??
But fields like Name have usually 2 fields (first name and last name). And in this two subfields, there are no stars. Same for e.g. adress fields.
Any Javascript Guru here with an idea?
Thanks in advance.

]]>Hi my client is complaining about the form on this page.
He is saying there is a “weird user experience when you click the input fields and the text remains with the cursor. Can you change it so when the user clicks in the box the text disappears and the cursor is ready to go?”
Is there a way to have the Name and Email labels disappear as soon as the user clicks into that field? I think its confusing them when it still has the labels and they need to be typing in their info.

]]>Hello,
I’m also using your Gravity Forms – Placeholders add-on plugin. Thank you for contributing that! I’m wondering if the place holder text can go away as soon as the user put their curser in the text field, or clicks in the box.
This is a standard functionality of most forms and it would be great if your add on could do this too. This is the site I have it on: https://www.kayaking.org
Thanks for any help with this!

]]>Is it possible to style the placeholder text?
I’m trying to use:
:-webkit-input-placeholder { font-size: 1em: margin-left:10px}
but it has not effect… I’m assuming because the placeholder is actually being added by JS after the CSS but I haven’t looked…
Just trying to confirm if this method can’t be styled or if I’m doing something wrong.
