Why Media Button instead of TinyMCE button?

Not really a support question, but I’m curious as why you went with a button in the Media Row versus a button integrated into TinyMCE / Quick Tags.

Was it for a technical reason, or something else?

Did you feel that TinyMCE buttons shouldn’t deal with shortcodes, and should only be for HTML stuff?

Thanks for sharing any thoughts you might have on this.
