For a few months now, the Hello Dolly plugin has been installed on websites without any registered user having done so. As a result, the website has been infected. We had to restore several of them, and after a few days the plugin comes back.
Where is this coming from? Through a WordPress update?
How can I solve this?

I am going to remove the Hello Dolly plugin from my site , There are some questions about removing the plugin , below :
1 . Is it safe to remove the plugin ?
2 . Does the plugin delete its database tables automatically after removing the plugin ?
If not , please let me know where the database tables of the plugins stores its data to delete them manually ?

Last week or so I recieved an email from wordpress regarding a vulnerability being detected with a plugin. I was told nothing harmful happened and it would automatically update for me if I had a particular version (which I did) fast forward- I’m checking my site today to add pictures and MOST of my pictures are MISSING.
I have no idea how long this has been going on and it has cost me BUSINESS. I’m extremely upset as I pay monthly for service and my host (bluehost) said they can’t help because it’s a WordPress issue.
Hello Dolly is the plug in that is causing this issue. Please fix asap.

This is a little thing, but I just noticed that the retina banner asset for this plugin has a typo in the filename — so it’s not actually loading on retina displays. (The file size appears to be correct, it’s just the wrong filename.)

]]>Is Wordfence deleting hello.php? When I enter the plugin page on several of my websites I’m getting an alert box telling me that hello.php has been deleted. I’m guessing that this is being done either by the Wordfence plugin or by Siteground (hosting service). I’ve deleted the Hello Dolly plugin in response as it was just a bit of fluff but I wonder why Wordfence (or Siteground) are detecting this php script as malware. Is Wordfence (or Siteground) being overzealous in trying to protect my sites? I realise that hello.php is probably a popular infection point but would expect that you would run a “checksum” and only “delete” it if the checksum doesn’t conform to the plugin library checksum. Someone needs to “please explain”.

i’m typing in caps to signify my excitement for this plugin and so i am not screaming but if you imagine me as a girl groupy in a 60’s beatles concert screaming her head off then sure im one of those
now this plugin presently adds a quote to the top of the admin bar on every page i want it to go further to replace every single existing word on the entire page with a quote, making it that much more inspirational for every one to the point that there would be no reason to want to do anything else (cuz, well you couldn’t tell what was anything else)
