It works flawlessly.
I am a developer and never felt compelled to leave a review, until now.
Bonus is it works responsively just fine too! As your container reduces in width, still renders all links perfectly.
Unlike IMAGELINKS, this one has no limits.
IMAGELINKS plugin (paid or free) also has wierd scaling issues — sometimes your co-ordinates do not match where you laid them.
This plugin has saved me a bunch.
THANK YOU

Old but gold! Though it hasn’t been updated for 3 years, still great plugin. Saved my project!

Of the 4 free plugins that do image mapping I found this one to be the best. I find it to be simple and logical to use.
The only issues I had:
1. getting the areas in the correct order but used the Post Type Order to organise this.
2. The hover/fade timing was a bit quick but found the support post: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/highlight-duration/
useful for adjusting this.
3. I note that on mobile device the colours come up a bit slowly. My website is mainly viewed by larger screens so not an issue.
Thank you for a great plugin.

Hi,
after we upload a map of a State and when we an area, it just doesnt work. You should be able to click on any point on that area, unfortunately it doesnt work like that. Our issue is in the selected area maybe half of it work. Any ideas what could be the issue ?

This freebie, although unsupported since 2014 still beats many premium image mappers hands down. Easy to use and implement it just works – no hassles, no coding – 5 STARS all day long.

I am using this with the latest version of WordPress and it works fine. The reason for the 4 rather than 5 stars? At this time the plugin doesn’t appear to support opening a URL in a new window.
This is such an important function. When we design a web site we don’t want the user to be take away from the site to another site. Is there a way we can get this plugin to open a target=_blank page when URL is selected?
It would be such a pity if this plugin is not supported any more as it’s one of the nicest and easiest I’ve come across.

I tried other plugins but they were just not working. So this was my last resort before I was going to code my own image-map hover-over Map. Its very intuitive and its exactly what i needed. Excellent work on this plugin. Thank you.

As in the title. Good plugin. Thank you for creating it. IMO it’d be excellent if it’d have one simple function: adding your own text coordinates. i.e. I create very complexed areas in Photoshop (where I can magnify the image and be very precise when I’m marking the areas), then I use a script to turn the paths I created into coordinates. I get the code with coordinates I created. There’s no way to get the level of precision I got through this method by using this plugin only. So it’d be a very handy solution to be able to just paste the code with coordinates created somewhere else.

I was looking for a way to tag an image of community member with some tooltips.
this one works like charm.
I just wish I could select circular areas as my images are in circles.

If you have one or two maps on a less picky website this plugin is perfect. Otherwise you have to choose for another plugin because this one have limitations. It’s not compatible with IE11 (ex.: https://www.ctetrailers.ro/reteaua-de-vanzari-cte/faymonville/), cannot copy coordinates so you have to create the same map every time, cannot edit a map etc.

I was looking for a quick way of implementing an image map so I wouldn’t have to spend too much time coding out the setup. This was exactly what I was looking for. I read through some of the other criticisms, but I have to say that I do not entirely agree with them. Most of them have to do with the site being either unresponsive or difficult to add custom styles to. Though it’s true that the plugin does not appear natively responsive, it’s very easy to remedy if you’re familiar with CSS. The plugin is wrapped in a class called .imgmap-frontend-image. Simply calling that class, and applying my own width and height specifications was all it took for me to have a responsive image map. I’ve played around with changing some of the other styles as well, and, so far, no issues.
On the negative side, I feel that the UI could be a little more streamlined. There are some slightly frustrating instances of having to redo whole map areas, rather than being able to simply edit them. The entire setup of the image map could be a little better explained. However, it’s fairly intuitive. It took just a little tinkering to figure out how it all worked.
Anyway, I think this plugin is a great time saver at a great value. My thanks and appreciation to the developer/s.

I really liked it, and then it just stopped working so I’m a bit miffed.
EDIT: I got it working again, though I had to drastically alter the image I wanted to use because it kept moving my image maps.

I even registered for this case to compliment this plugin. As person below me said: “a rare plugin”. Trully a treasure. Enjoying the visual editor for the imagemaps.

Truly awesome and rare plug-in. HTML image mapping didn’t work at all on mobile, this plugin does! And besides that, an HTML image map wouldn’t be as good looking. Keep up the good work! It ís a little hard to make a map, the admin part of this plugin could be better. For instance, I didn’t know you had to click ‘save’ on every map area you make and I found out after making about 20. Little things like this make it a bit of a hassle but in the end it’s worth it.

The plugin worked nicely. Was a quick setup, and good enough documentation.

I want to add files from archives of my events to my site. I have video, photo, and text files that document the previous four years of events. The site has mainly been an announcement site for these events.
I’m thinking of using a timeline of the events as the front page. Imagemapper should allow me to turn it into a linkable image. The dates on the timeline could link to video, photo and text archives from the events? Has any tried this?
I’ve looked for timeline presentation themes but couldn’t find one that was recommended.
thanks in advance,
Neil
