Hey Jon, very cool plugin… and I love that it’s linked to Elliot’s ACF plugin (my favourite).
However, I’m wondering could I use this (or hack together something else) to show a post by DAY OF WEEK and TIME OF DAY. I have a repeating weekly timetable for a radio station, and want to feature a post IF it is the right day (eg. Monday), and time of day (eg. 11am-1pm).
Would very much appreciate your thoughts.
The Monkey.
]]>Hi,
I installed the plugin today and I am getting the following error on the Daily Specials Settings page
Warning: sort() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in C:\wamp\www\vella\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\jrwdev-daily-specials\includes\options.php on line 218
Also when I click the dropdown for “Screen Options” for a post or page, I get the following error
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class ‘JRWDEV_DailySpecials_Settings’ does not have a method ‘on_screen_layout_columns’ in C:\wamp\www\vella\wordpress\wp-includes\plugin.php on line 199
]]>The plugin is giving me this message on the settings page:
Warning: sort() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in /[path]/wp-content/plugins/jrwdev-daily-specials/includes/options.php on line 218
I’m not sure what to do to fix this.
]]>The Daily Specials plugin isn’t seeing ACF like it used to, and consequently is kicking out a console error that there are no slides to cycle.
Edit:
Here’s the console error:
[cycle] terminating; zero elements found by selector jquery.cycle.all.min.js?ver=3.7.1:1
[cycle] terminating; too few slides: 0 jquery.cycle.all.min.js?ver=3.7.1:1
This really needs a hotfix!
Edit 2: Temporary hotfix is to revert to a version of ACF prior to the 4.3.0 update.

]]>I was trying to implement this daily special in such a way that it would display the special of the day, and only that special. Is there a way to do that? I currently have it displaying all of the days of the week as a slide show, so I thought if I turned the change time to zero that it might freeze it out, which it does. But it still starts the sequence on Sunday (which is how I ordered it), and would like it to start based on the day of the week.
Is it possible to do that right now? I noticed in another post that you said you would add that feature in version 1.5 but it is not there, that I can find.
Thanks for such a great little plugin!
]]>I looked but couldn’t find a way to enter html code since it enters as formatted text. I would like to use this to display what special items we produce for a given day, on the given day. It would be nice to be able to have a small thumbnail of the item for the day. A thumbnail feature could work but it seems like html code editing would be easier to implement and more flexible.
On a slightly related note, is it possible for this plugin to display the daily special for the particular day only? I haven’t played with it much since it doesn’t exactly fit my needs yet. Thanks.

]]>Hi jon,
Thanks for a great plugin, easy to work with though very efficient.
I would like to print a hardcopy of the specials everyday for the counter. How can I accomplish this? I’ve tried other print plugins but no success. I would need to have the specials listed on a page to be able to use print and pdf plugin. Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
I would love to buy a Pro version of this if you consider it.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

]]>For some reason, specials on all the sites where I use Daily Specials are now rotating in a strange order. Here’s the scenario:
Friday’s special shows up first. Then it rotates to Friday again, next showing Thursday. Then it goes all the way back to Friday, shows Thursday, then Wednesday, and then… Back to Friday. Next is Thurs, Wed, Tues… And back to Friday.
Is there a way you can correct this issue with sort order. I tried to use Post Types Order and it doesn’t fix the sorting and rotating issue.

]]>After getting set on track with the advanced custom fields, I’ve been doing some work with Daily Specials. Looking pretty good. One thing I’ve come across already is that in one case, the restaurant is offering a percentage off, and in another, there’s a free kid’s meal with the purchase of an adult menu. The way the plugin is structured, if you don’t put in a monetary amount, the default discount reads “Price: $0.00”.

]]>Using Daily Specials 1.1, with WP 3.4.1 and Genesis Framework 1.8.2
Entered a couple of specials into the CMS and placed the DS widget in the Primary sidebar, and nothing shows up below the widget heading, including the other widgets that were placed after it, my entire footer area, etc. Completely breaks the layout.
