I know this might not work or be active anymore, but have to try. I am not super skilled with this wordpress thing, but I would very much like a pedigree site on my website with my cats on it. However, I have put the page ID of the page I want the pedigree to be shown, into the Laika Configuration (ID of the archive), but nothing is showing on the site. I have added several cats and connected them to each other.
Is it no longer working, or am I maybe using wrong theme or something?
I hope you can help a newbie ??

I just want to be able to view the pedigree on a normal page instead of in the generated post. I tried to use iframes and that sorta works but it’s not ideal.

I’m pleased with your work and sofar Laika is very much of my likings and seems to be fit for use.
I’m not a hardcore coder so in this case it seems to be very fitting :-).
Anyway, I was wondering if I’m doing something wrong with the following.
Firstly I created a blank page, after that I copied the ID in the field “ID of the archive”.
I’ve created a few pets and I do see them nicely on the “blank page”.
However, I am missing the Pet’s name (underneath or above the thumbnail).
I’ve uploaded an example here:
I would like to see the pet names, do you have an idea how I can see them? I’m using WP twentyseventeen theme, perhaps that that’s something you want to know as well.
PS:
I’ve been wondering about the use of manually adding the ID’s of new pets.
Since you’ve added the names behind the unique identifier (see image below), I was wondering if it’s not logically you automatically pick an ID? Since the names are easily to spot.

With the new version 1.3 I’ve eliminated a script that checked if there was an equal ID because made the plugin broken for new installations. This won’t effect anything that’s not visual, and shortly I’ll update a new version with the script fixed.

]]>From version 1.2 It will be possible to add custom fields.
In Laika settings > Lika Fields
You’ll be able to add custom fields and order them. Then when you create new content the new fields will appear and it will be displayed in the post (empty with only the tag if there is no info, although in new updates you’ll be able to not show empty fields).
Also It will be possible that in newer versions there would be default fields (like date of birth) that you’ll be able to activate.
If you change the fields in settings it wouldn’t should no more on the post, unless they have the same machine name.
This feature is in Beta, it could be buggi, although I’ll do my best to make it compatible for newer versions (It’s not a promise, just intentions).
Also when is stable I’ll add proper documention.
Please help me and report bugs, I’ll do my best to fix them ASAP. This plugin is alive, although there are not a lot of active installations (in part because I screwed up when updating, and WP don’t detect some versions).
]]>My goal is to embed a single pedigree on an existing page about that animal.
I can insert a post into a page and display a pedigree but I am having issues selecting the specific animal I want. I found the post ID (as per kiwidk’s topic) and inserted it into the code but it displays the latest animal I created in Laika not the animal with the post ID I want. I can change the animal by using the offset number but that offset number changes every time I add a new animal to Laika.
If you could let me know where I am going wrong it would be a great help. And thanks for all your previous help.

Whenever I select an ID with multiple words from the mum and dad drop-down list, such as “Spike Johnson”, and save the page, it only saves the first word as the mum or dad ID.
For example, I select “Spike Johnson” as the dad using the drop-down list. I update/save the page – then the ID for dad just shows “Spike”. Since his ID is “Spike Johnson”, this causes him to not show up in the pedigree tree at all.
How can I fix this to make it work with names longer than 1 word?

I have created a page and have to paste the ID on settings. I simply don’t get what ID and where? Settings?
Lets say that a unique ID for one if the dogs is Ella2014. All the dogs in her tree have their own posts in Laika.
How do this to play in a page?

Even still beeing developped I like this plugin very much as it is simple to use. There are some things I would like to suggest:
A possibility to show the children of a pet on the page of pet. This option would be very handy for breeders to show all children of one dog in one place. Probably it could be done by updating the parants post as soon as a child is generated / updated.
An Option to enable automatic ID generation would also be handy. That would require, that the Display name of the pet would have to in the Dropdown of parents IDs with the Value of the ID behind in order to be able to identify the Pet. That would remove the requirement to fill the ID mannually.
About the possibilty to add further custom fields to be displayed I allready talked in a different posting. This would still be handy but I will look into that trying to integrate the “Advance Custom Profile Field” Plugin. I just have to figure out how to integrate it in way that I don’t have to edit core files from Laika, because of the inability to use autoupdate afterwards.
How are your thoughts about this. Thank you very much for the great work you are doing.

It converts css classes to text e.g. [caption id="attachment_64" align="aligncenter" width="201"]added in the text without beeing compiled any more.
