Hi, we used the plugin for quite a long time but I now found out that the site hangs when visiting specific woocommerce pages. This effect only shows up when the user is logged in. When deactivating the plugin the problem disappears (it is now deactivated).

I cannot get this working with the YITH WooCommerce Affiliates plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/yith-woocommerce-affiliates/) – the majority of strings continue to be printed in English. My primary language is “Colombian Spanish” (es_CO) and I’ve set the fallback language to “Spanish” (es_ES), for which the plugin contains language files. If I switch my main language to es_ES it works as expected. Thanks for any help.

I noticed that it does not work for Contact Form 7 currently, at least for de-AT with fallback to de-DE.
Is there maybe a quick way to add support for CF7 in language fallback?

The error messages on the login page are written in English while they should be written in Formal Dutch. When there is no valid translation, they plugin should fall back to the normal Dutch translation, where the translation is present.
The above situation is not happening with WordPress translation 6.1.x and plugin version 1.0.5.

]]>It appears that (with this plugin installed and configured) the WP core functions language_attributes() get_language_attributes() return the language code for the fallback language, not the site’s main language.
In many cases these will be the same (formal variant as main, regular as fallback), but for other cases, the main language should probably be used?

I tried to set “Deutsch Sie” to 1st language and “Deutsch (du)” to fallback language. But my site doesn’t save “Deutsch Sie” as 1st language. even not with other fallback languages.
Alternatively with any other language as 1st language I can save “Deutsch Sie” as fallback language.
Is this issue known? It is bad if you use e.g. WooCommerce where you address formal clients with “Sie”.

We are trying to resolve the missing integration with the plugin english-wp-admin.
That plugin (and possibly others) are forcing the interface language in the backend to be English. However, when it does, then the language-fallback plugin still loads the second language as a fallback, which in turn causes the administrative dashboard to not appear in English.
In order to resolve this, the english-wp-admin plugin needs to unregister the locale filter of language-fallback in the right conditions. However, it is not able to do that currently, because the language-fallback plugin does not retain the class instance (object) that was used to register the filter.

I have a question on when a new translation is used. For example the German translation of Woocommerce Subscriptions on Transifex is ready 92%. (see: https://www.transifex.com/woo-unofficial/woocommerce-subscriptions/)
Will the plugin actively use this tranlsation and leave the remaining untranslated strings in English or will it only accept translations with a 100% How can I make use of the Transifex translations?

]]>Hi, I couldn’t find any option to set the default fallback language for new Blogs on a multisite-WP.
You can select a default language on the network-admin page so every Blog you create gets the default language.
The problem is that I need to set on each new Blog the fallback language manually.
Could you maybe implement this option on network-admin or give me a hint how i could solve this?

There is an unfixed bug in WordPress versions 4.3.x and 4.4.x, which in combination with any of the above “formal” language variants leads to an invalid HTML language attribute in your HTML markup, such as <html lang="de-DE-formal"> instead of <html lang="de-DE">.
Since this is not ISO compliant, applications (browsers and especially screen-readers) will not know what language is actually being used. This in turn may lead to unexpected and unpleasant consequences for your visitors.
This has been fixed in WordPress 4.5
by adding the string html_lang_attribute to all WordPress language files, which is then being used to populate the HTML language attribute.
However, since there are those who cannot install WordPress 4.5 yet (in which case you might want to have a look at WP Downgrade), I asked Bernhard Kau if he could think of a solution to this. Within an hour (!) he came up with Language Attribute Variant Fix, which truncates the language attribute to make it ISO-compliant.
I packaged the new plugin as language-attribute-variant-fix.zip, so that it can be easily uploaded and installed manually.

This plugin lets users change their administration language to native English (en_US locale).
This is useful during site development and for people more accustomed to the english administration panel, even if your site is in another language. (The frontend will still use the native language.)

I recently translated the Redirection plugin to German (formal).
My site is using German (formal) with German as fallback and shows the Redirection plugin fully translated when Language Fallback is disabled.
Somehow, when Language Fallback is active, only about half of the Strings in the Redirection plugin are translated.

Starting with WordPress 4.3, you can use languages such as “Deutsch (Sie)” (formal German) in your WordPress installation.
