THIS is exactly what I was looking for. It works perfectly. Thank you SO much for your plugin contribution, this is what makes the WordPress community awesome!
Note to others: Once plugin is enabled, simply change any of your preferred posts/pages visibility to “private” and you’re done. Only those that log in will be able to view that content.

Works perfectly with WordPress 4.7.2.
To make sure users with subscriber role can actually read your private content follow the instructions here:

because by default only Administrators and Editors can see private posts and pages.
