I absolutely hate bloated plugins, so I love this one. It’s simple and works as expected. Guess it’s wise to use a plugin such as this one, against brute force attacks.

Does what it says on the tin. Like another similar plugin before it became bloatware. The only feature I would request is the ability to send notifications to another email address, I like to keep my admin email clean.

Se lo pone más dicícil a los hackers que quieren acceder a tu blog ya que les limita el número de accesos.

Would be good to get new versions and fix possible security issues (if any), but it seems to still work.

This plugin was provided by my host provider when I signed up with THOSTS in December 2017.
Was considering deleting it, but, .. this is from it’s log as of today 10/10/2018
IP Tried to log in as
91.200.12.28 pigsoft.net (4 lockouts), b92.co.uk (2 lockouts)
91.200.12.65 admin (1 lockout), b92.co.uk (1 lockout)
91.200.12.104 pigsoft.net (1 lockout)
91.200.12.157 b92.co.uk (2 lockouts)
27.151.92.51 dyandoss27289 (1 lockout)
86.49.188.134 admin (1 lockout)
146.185.223.160 admin (1 lockout)
211.245.31.111 michellz047609 (1 lockout)
170.238.36.26 admin (1 lockout)
91.200.12.56 b92.co.uk (4 lockouts)
185.63.254.15 admin (1 lockout)
91.200.12.35 b92.co.uk (5 lockouts), pigsoft.net (1 lockout)
And so the list goes on, and one, and on, and on, ..
China, Ukraine, France and the good old US of A to name just a few of the look up IPs I could be bothered to do. Script Jockies all of them, but they’re not using brute force attacks: especially from reading some of the login (name) attacks that the web boys are using. Later on in that list, are some of the people I’ve mentioned in my posts: who aren’t board members.
Conclusion: This Plugin is worth it’s weight in gold.
Thanks for reading, Jessica: Praise be the ORI.

I have always installed this plugin on all WP websites that I create or manage. Nothing significant seems to have happened.
However lately I have been monitoring one of my websites and noticed heightened attempts to log in without my permission.
I lowered the number of attempts to 2 and increased lockout periods.
I have also turned option to get notifications every time login fails and login IP attempts get locked out.
I couldn’t be happier.
This has worked as the best protection from hacks, protection to lock out intruder IP’s etc.
So far over 450 failed attempts and over 250 permanently locked out IP’s
Thank you for the protection

I’ve been using this plugin for a few years.
No problems whatsoever.
Very grateful to the plugin developers.

This was the very first plugin I installed after starting my websitejuly 2015.
I like to look at the log once and a while to see some stupid ass trying to brute force with name admin. In the first few years I had some 80 ip’s blocked.
Most gave up after one (is 3 tries in one hour). Now I have two, one persisted one with 4 blocks.
Took him/her 7 days to get there with 12 tries.:)

I needed a way to secure a front end login form. I tried Loginizer and other limit login plugins with the form, but none of them worked or limited attempts. This one still works like a charm with WordPress 4.9.1.

Dear WordPress user. Please be aware that this once great plugin has not been updated for quite a while.
Fortunately, others have picked up where Limit Login Attempts stopped. Limit Login Attempts Reloaded is basically an update. It even has whitelisting and blacklisting.

Peccato solo che non sia più stato aggiornato da diversi anni. Un aggiornamento, anche solo grafico non nuocerebbe.

Great plugin, still works for me even though seems abandoned by the author.

Sadly, I can no longer recommend this once outstanding plug-in as it breaks admin login states with Divi. As Divi is now the #1 WP theme, this is a serious issue.
Leaving at 3 stars because it’s an excellent plugin if you have no conflicts.

Been using this for years, and still works fine for me. Hope the author is keeping an eye on it in case WordPress core code changes.
thanks!

I’ve used this great plug-in for years, but sadly as of Feb 1, 2017, using WordPress 4.7.2, the plug-in crashed my entire website, including my log on page! My host disabled the plug-in and all was instantly fixed. The plug-in hasn’t been updated for five years, so it appears it’s no longer supported by the author and I suggest looking for another plug-in.

I installed this plugin soon after starting my website. I just checked my log while looking at the settings for “Limit Login Attempts” I noticed that there were over 300 lockout IP addresses. the top one had 47 lockouts. Most had one or two, but there were many multiple attempts over 10. I’m sure that if this plugin wasn’t installed some of these hackers would have pounded my site with login attempts. Fortunately, I have a strong password and this plugin.

I was just given a warning from my host about malicious plugin in my wordpress.
I followed a link that the host gave me.. and it led to a backdoor alternate login page.
To reproduce this effect you can visit https://www.yoursite.org/site-content/plugins/limit-login-attempts/Pes8x.php and you will see its behavior.
They also have a second compromising file in there https://www.yoursite.org/site-content/plugins/limit-login-attempts/secure_config.php

I’ve been using this plugin for a bit over a year and so long as it’s set up right it works perfectly. I get notifications on at least one lockout most months and if there’s a recurring theme on IP addresses I add the range to the separate WP-Ban plugin to get rid of them permanently.
