I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my appreciation for your remarkable plugin. I am writing to inform you about an issue I encountered while using your plugin (v1.28) with WordPress (v6.3).

Recently, I attempted to update my WordPress installation to version 6.3 from 6.2.2. However, upon completing the update, I observed an unexpected behavior. Specifically, I noticed that the “post_name” column in all “wp_post” tables had been truncated back to a length of 200 characters. As a result, the permalinks for posts with longer titles were broken.

In order to resolve this issue, I was compelled to deactivate and reactivate your plugin. This action had the effect of expanding the “post_name” column back to its original length of 3000 characters. Subsequently, I had to manually edit each post’s slug to incorporate the extended permalink. Regrettably, this workaround is not feasible for me due to the substantial number of posts on my website, totaling over 500.

I kindly request your assistance in addressing this matter. It would be immensely appreciated if you could investigate the compatibility between your plugin and WordPress 6.3. Your insights and support in resolving this issue would mean a great deal to me.

After active this plugin when I am trying to add categories or tags showing “Could not insert a term into the database.” and it’s not adding.

i have 300/000 products and i see my wordpress panel become very slowly and someetimes i cant login in wordpress panel and alot of time get eror 500 (Request Timeout) after that i disable Longer Permalinks my wordpress panel become fast and normal

1-what i should do ?

PAges and Posts are creating Long URLS but the long URLS of the page when we open URL is redirecting to home . CAn you tell why its happening ?

Hello, how can I keep the plugin enabled for older posts and url working but disable and prevent from saving new posts url?

Thank you for this amazing plugin which is crucial to my website. I have installed this plugin(v1.22) on wordpress(v5.2.7) Multsite and I had to activate it on every site with no issue and it worked like a charm.

I am trying to update my wordpress to 5.5.1 and once I do, I notice the column post_name in all wp_post tables for every site reduce back to 200, and all the posts who had long permalinks have been broken. So I had to deactivate and activate the plugin to increase the post_name column again to 3000 and edit one by one the post slug to add the long permalink, but I can’t go with this workaround as I have around 10K+ posts.

May you please look into this matter, I would really be grateful.

Would you please try longer permalink plugin with the wordpress version 5.5?

Today I updated WordPress to version 5.4. And after that (if I am not mistaken) I also updated Longer Permalinks plugin to the latest version (1.21). Then I looked into debug.log file and saw lots of errors like this:

where “my_table_name” and “physical_path_to_website” describe WordPress table name and the website path respectively. I am not showing them for security reasons.
I think the problem is the length of the lock name – my_table_name_longer_permalinks_backup_existing_postnames is (in real life) 66 characters long whereas lock name limit in MySQL 5.7 is only 64.
Currently posts with long permalinks are broken, the plugin is trying to access backup but can not. What should I do? I don’t think it’s very good idea to downgrade MySQL or tweak tables by hand. Even if that fixes my problem others might encounter it. The problem is with the lock system which should check if it’s name exceeds 64 characters.

when i deactivated the plugin, all posts links were broken !! i want to uninstall the plugin and keep the links working

I have two issues and I need your advice.

1) I found a database with table postmeta full of rows with meta_key value “longer-permalinks-post-name-longer”. It’s 6,5GB!!! Is it OK if I go on and delete these rows?

2) Amongst them I see meta_value with values like “2577-revision-v1” which actually replaced somehow the original URL and I have to go to the back-end and revert the URL manually. Is it a known issue? Is there a workaround?

I have installed the plugin after installing wordpress 5.1 for a new website. I am receiving the following error: “Could not apply required functionality to core
Plugin Longer Permalinks could not extend required core functionality. The plugin seems not compatible with your WordPress version. Please contact developer about it.”

What can I do to make the error message disappear? I don’t mean pressing the x button in the notification.

Thanks for your interesting plugin. It used to work before I upgrade my WordPress to version 5. After upgrading, I couldn’t update or publish any post unless I disable this plugin. Could you please check and fix the error?

I just updated my WordPress website (https://www.hellobanglaworld.com/) to version 5.
But, my posts with long URL are not redirecting to the post detail page. I get “400 Bad Request” message.

I have taken backup of site files and database. So, I reverted to version 4.9.8.

I would appreciate if you could make some time to look into it.

I had hoped the plugin also extended the slug in attributes in woocommerce. Currently it can only be 28 characters and thats not enough ??
