Мне не нравится, когда мои контакты без разрешения записывают на свои сервера, постоянно меняют интерфейс, создают дополнительные условия со сбором личных данных. Я нашла Вас – прекрасную альтернативу, чтобы работать, а не тратить массу моего рабочего времени на разбор очередных “хотелок” “продвинутого и современного” …. не буду писать кого.

La version de base gratuite est une bonne alternative à son célèbre concurrent. L’installation via l’extension sur wordpress est très simple en revanche si vous hébergez la solution sur votre serveur c’est un peu plus long mais très efficace. Merci

This plugin generates errors with extremely complicated and technical fixes. It is not worth the trouble it causes for the average, not super-technically-expert person. I don’t recommend it. There must be an easier way.

Great thing! I tried this as an alternative to GA a while ago, and since then I’ve been using only this analytics for all my clients.
1. it’s open source, loads from your server and stores data in your database
2. it loads faster than GA, and unlike GA isn’t locked by Firefox, Brave, and others (due to the first fact, that it’s loaded from your website)
3. it has great UI and UX
The available reports in times better than the crappy GA reports, and built-in Woo tracking that works out-of-the-box is a very nice thing.
I had a small thing to figure out, and contacted the support here, in the wp.org forum. The reply was instant.
5+ and highly recommend it to everybody!

An excellent free tool for tracking cookieless analytics, however not the most intuitive. My plugin collects links twice each time, plus appears to split the same user into different sessions, so not the most accurate. If you’re not a paid user, there’s no support other than a voluntary forum, where lots of answers go unreplied. To be honest that seems fair for a free tool, but it does mean parts of the plugin remain a mystery.
That said, I’ve been able to set-up and track tags, just as with GA, by following the tutorials on the developer’s site.
My WordPress dashboard has displayed Matomo diagnostics warnings since installation about charset and logs which I’ve never been able to fix, so getting a seamless experience may also depend on your hosting.
Edit – July 31, 2024: Seems fair that I add a star to my review. The plugin does have a steeper learning curve than some, but the free support I’ve received on this forum has been top notch.

Once it was a great plugin. My web agency used it for all of my customer’s websites since it was called Piwik. But within the last year several versions of Matomo crashed many of my customers websites. I totally lost faith in this plugin and cannot afford to risk that I lose customers because under the administration of my web agency their websites crash. The only thing that could reactivate the websites was deactivating Matomo by renaming the /wp-content/plugins/matomo directory and then deleting it.
Typical message from the WordPress System (in German):
“WordPress hat eine eingebaute Funktion, die erkennt, wenn ein Plugin oder ein Theme einen fatalen Fehler auf deiner Website verursacht, und dich deswegen mit dieser automatisierten E-Mail benachrichtigt. In diesem Fall hat WordPress einen Fehler in einem deiner Plugins, Matomo Analytics – Ethical Stats. Powerful Insights., abgefangen.”
Translation:
“WordPress has a built-in feature that recognises when a plugin or theme is causing a fatal error on your site and notifies you with this automated email. In this case, WordPress has caught an error in one of your plugins, Matomo Analytics – Ethical Stats. Powerful Insights, has been intercepted.”
Whoever is responsible for Matomos quality management should be replaced by someone who knows how software testing works without customers as Guinea pigs.
Another point of criticism is the bloated database space it needs, which is easily more than 100MB per year. That causes for example, that the fantastic Duplicator Backup plugin doesn’t work anymore due to its 500MB limit. So my customers had to buy the pro version of Duplicator just because Matomo wastes too much space.

I work with Google Analytics for many years but was never completely happy with their reports.
A few months ago I started to use MATOMO and I am very happy with that WP-Plugin. MATOMO delivers a lot more detail and is much easier to handle.

i must say i dont like it at all…the whole interface is odd and looks really oldschool…it is very slow and it has so much bugs and really EVERYTHING must be handled by the developer itself…from scaling, archiving, debugging and so on…stuff which comes from Google Analytics totally for free and where we really NEVER had any problems or bugs…and the worst point: there is no support at all unless you pay thousands of euros per year….i dont understand the hype sorry…

Found Good Alternative to Google Analytics hosted on WordPress. But When I Installed with Woocommerce Site. I am getting error. This Error on Installation. ?This plugin is incompatible with the enabled WooCommerce feature ‘High-Performance order storage (COT)’, it shouldn’t be activated. And Same Error under Matomo Analytics Summary Page. Said Some Problem with the Report.

Meanwhile, the issue was resolved, so I updated my review. The plugin integrates smoothly with the Complianz plugin (cookie banner/GDPR) and provides all the information I need.
The 100% data ownership is a great asset and lets me sleep well regarding GDPR compliance.
Unfortunately, Wordfence today reported a medium security issue in the plugin, but in the fast-paced online world, no plugin is safe from that.

After installing and activating the plugin, my WP site continuously reported “internal server errors” (it became unusable). It took me some patience and several page-reloads to open the plugin directory, deactivate, and finally uninstall the Matomo WP plugin.
Several users report similar issues online (Matomo Forum & GitHub). Others report similar findings with WP 6.2 and PHP 8.x.
While I am sure the community is willing to analyze and fix those issues, a plugin that tears down my site is barely unusable, and I completely lost trust.
Nevertheless, good luck to this open source project and lots of success to the community behind it.

With Matomo, you can actually understand what is happening on your website. Even the free version is incredibly rich in terms of offering a multitude of different analytical perspectives. It is far beyond a mere description of traffic and really gives you clues as to how to improve your website. The division between “free” and “pro” is very fair in that most “pro” target functions only needed when doing business.
