After a few minutes to understand the two directories left and right (I have problems with foreign languages), I created different folders and moved all the files. Everything works as usual (for moment) in articles and pages.
The function does not work for inserting files in a widget in the sidebar, with a visual editor (I use TinyMCE Black Studio Widget). Pictures published before this system, were installed again (4 in all).
Problem for me is not important, compared to the thousands of published files of pages and articles.
For moment, 5 stars well deserved.

the interface is easy to use – but I lost links in my rev sliders, got error messages from some folders and otherwise the plugin lost track of a whole bunch of files.
Whilst unlikely, it may be an issue at my end – but everything was fine prior to using this plugin so have lost confidence.
Shame, good idea but unreliable for me.

I wish the instructions were better. After installing I don’t see any of my media in either or the MFMA folders so now what? Maybe something is broken or maybe I’m I missed a step in the all too rudimentary “instructions”
either way this plugin doesn’t help me at all

Hi,
Thank you for making this awesome plugin, it would be perfect if you can add a Open Folder selection on Right Click menu instead of by using Double click, because I’m using iPad the Double click function seems broken.
Many Thanks
Zhong.

I really wanted a way to put my media files in non-date specific folders such as for logo or header images or static images in pages that dont necessarily relate to dates
Drag n Drop – Perfect – Thank you!

WordPress is in desperate need of better organization tools, such as folders and subfolders for media files. Seems to utterly basic… So I installed this plugin into a new website under development. As far as creating folders and organizing files, it works as advertised. But it broke so much stuff in the process.
For instance in the Visual Editor widget, the File Manager buttons appeared but all of the text editing buttons disappeared and the editor became unusable. It somehow also interfered with unrelated widgets on the same page like the Button Widget. I disabled the Media File Manager Advanced plugin and all functions returned to the widgets.
For reference, the widgets were being used inside the SiteOrigin Page Builder. The WordPress version is 4.1.1 and I am using the WeaverX theme.
I gave it two stars because I’m using it on another website with no problems.

I just finished moving an eleven year old website into WordPress for a local organization. It amounted to 150 pages/posts and a couple thousand images. As expected, I occasionally built a post and uploaded the images before backdating it to the correct date, and saving first. Hence, I had hundreds of images that ended up in the January 2015 folder that should have been in years like 2008, or 2005, etc.
This plug-in saved the day for me, and it was a cinch to move the incorrect media uploads into the folders where they should have gone in the first place.
I thank you muchly!

As others seem to have done, created something that then doesn’t help filtering out what images I want to look at in the Media View…shame.

Died with JSON error exactly like Media File Manager. Obviously not ‘Advanced’ enough.
I would take another look if there was an obvious effort to bug fix and update. The concept looks good and visual, by-directory organization capability is sorely needed in WordPress. Just wish it worked for me.

Thank you so much for making this plugin, exactly what I needed.
Improvements? Just 1, but this plugin is still great:
– <div/> that shows the folder name is too short, only shows half the folder name
Didn’t encounter problems identified from 1-star reviews.

4.0 or 4.0.1
each time, i try to make something (not activate/desactivate the only thing which work) in this plug in, i show an error message.basic erros which show tahte teh plug(in i not tested before publication.
the plug-in est maybve very useful (and i need this sort of plug-in) but now I have not more confidence in your plug-in: it may be very useful (i needed it), but I do want my wordpress project explodes…
2 stars because it seem good. (if it work). -3 stras beacuse it is dangerous for your wordpress project (errors when suppression).
the pb is with the new version of a lot of versions, or it is the real first version (with many stages of debugging) ?
NB:an advice of a experiemtend develope/make your plug-in for you, use it a long long time, and then publish it. if new vesion ,retest the main function (with a plan of test). the basic errors show that it was quickly made and tested quickly (this one was not tested(?): an absence of constant is visible).

I am using WordPress v4.0.1
As per review by maldiver I too don’t see all the name of a file or folder when the name is long. I too don’t see a thumbnail of any images.
I have another problem with renaming files or folders. Initially it looks like I have renamed something but then I get an error message and when I OK it the name reverts to the original name. I use a work-around: I create a new folder with the new name and then move the files. I found I couldn’t delete the old folder immediately. It told me the folder was not empty. On a later session another day I was able to delete such folders. To change a file name I upload the image again under the new name and delete the old one.

I have 300 pictures in my media library. I downloaded this plugin to be able to arrange the pictures in folders. Something must be wrong with the settings, because the lower part part of displayed text was missing. And the pictures were only shown with names.

My mistake for taking the description at it’s word(s). I created subfolders, and moved ALL my images and documents – of which I have plenty. Unfortunately, none of them are now loading on my website. This apparently only works for newly uploaded images/documents. How embarrassing for my client and humiliating for me. Now I have to go in and relink everything. I wonder what will happen when I deactivate the plugin ….

Find this plugin a godsend when trying to manage 1000s of photos.
Would be nice to have the directory selection dropdown in the Galleries screen..
Ultimately Media Management is one area that wordpress need to improve. Especially with the 2014 theme being heavily photo dependant…
This plugin fills the gap in the mean time…

The concept of the plugin is exactly what I was looking for. This plugin allows to manage your media items easily. The reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is because there are some features missing such as;
1) cannot multi select images when inserting items into a post/page
2) currently cannot add a gallery to post/page
However, looks like some of the above are on the future feature list, so let us all pray for it to come out soon!

Thank you Soooooo Much!!
Really needs better instruction tho.. follow the images you will get it, but as a note..
Upload images normally. Use with the advanced media button above editor..
However, if your using this in a plugin, add your images via your plugin’s page first (such as a gallery) and then go to the advanced media manager and move them to the folder you want them in.
