Hi David,

On the Assistant screen the default ‘All Att. Categories’ can be swapped with other taxonomies I have, so the drop-down can be used to select a term. I get to this through the MLA Settings under ‘List filter’.

This is handy, and was wondering if there might be a way to swap the taxonomy in the same way directly from the Assistant screen ,as I prefer to browse the terms and select from them in comparison to entering a search term in the Terms Search.

I use Breakdance WP builder which uses WP native Media library, which is very feature poor.
Can I install and use MLA with it? I just started using WP and breakdance builder, so I am a bit lost with all the features and geeky explanations.
Is there any simple, user friendly tutorial available?
For the start, I would need just to somehow separate files into various “folders”, according to what they are used for, and gradually I would learn advanced features, I suppose.

I tried to map ITPC data to a custom field but the process always stopped at certain jpg files because of the metadata. Removing the metadata or removing and reimporting the metadata with the ExifTool helped to fix the files.

WordPress-Version 6.6.1 / Media Library Assistant (Version 3.20) / PHP-Version 8.2.22

One type of file always showed an error in the “Attachment metadata” box when I try to edit the file in wordpress.

The process stopped with the error: undefined (error), jqXHR( 500, Internal Server Error

The other type of file even broke the editing of the file in wordpress. The page simply refused to load. Only disabling the plugin or fixing the file worked .

I could send you the two files in case you want to investigate and try make the metadata processing more robust.

Would it be ok, to send them to your email address?

Is it possible for newly uploaded photos to inherit the tags from the parent_post they are uploaded to? For example if I was editing a post named ‘Desert Rain Frog’ that has 2 tags: ‘Frog, Desert Rain Frog’, I’d like each uploaded photo to that post to be assigned the tags ‘Frog, Desert Rain Frog’.

I’m trying to make a simple list of URLs that link to PDFs within a category, however it keeps showing thumbnails. When I try the [mla_custom_list] shortcode, nothing shows up at all. I have checked the debug log and no errors.

This is what I’ve been trying to get working:

I am trying to set up a REST API (similar to this: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/rest-api-to-get-media-by-taxonomy/) for fetching Media Library images tagged using attachment_tag.

My code calls mla_query_list_table_items() and passes in s=flowers&mla_search_fields=terms plus current_page and per_page params as a POST form-data request. (I did have to add some is_array() checks in the mla_query_posts_search_filter)

I get an array of data items that seem to match my tag taxonomy query, but there is no tagging taxonomy data included with the items (the mla_item_tags prop is coming back empty), so I do not know what OTHER tags might be attached to the images in my results set.

Am I missing something? How can I get the tags for each item to be populated in my data?

I’m aiming to present a view of PDF research papers, displaying the icons and you can click and view the papers (see “Research Publications” tab on home page of https://www.ukrise.org – not the Publications link on the top menu which I’m aiming to replace since it’s quite a manual process). I’ve got the basics for this done, but now want to add a search function so that the view of papers can be filtered.

The [code_snippet id=7] calls the form code, since the WP Tabs Pro plugin I’m using for the tabs feature limits what you can insert directly.

2. When the search page returns, the applied search term is shown in search input field, highlighting the filter used.

Hoping these are things that can be added with some simple modifications to the above code? Your help would be appreciated.

Hi David. I use WP/LR Sync for publishing an image incl. data from Lightroom to WordPress. By accident I found an issue and perhaps you can help me here.

I tagged an LR image with a keyword ‘unbekannt’ within LR and MLA is putting the keywords into Att. Tags on the WP Side. It is shown on my website nicely. At a later stage I deleted the tag/keyword ‘unbekannt’ for the LR image, published it … but the value ‘unbekannt’ in Att. Tags still pops up.

Notwithstanding David’s circumstances (which we should all respect), I thought it worth posting here so others might find the source of this problem more quickly than I did.

When you upgrade from WordPress 6.5 to 6.6, if this plugin is active, your Google Fonts will no longer work. The fonts you have installed will not be available and you will get an error if you try to install any.

Disabling the plugin will restore the ability to install and use fonts, though it will not bring back the ones you had previously installed.

Hey, thanks for this awesome plugin, very useful!

The only thing I saw, is that it kinda breaks the regular upload flow inside posts on wordpress.

When you select and upload media inside a post, wordpress display the upload process by each item inside a modal and it auto refresh when each media finish upload, so you can proceed selecting or editing image details.

But when this plugin is activated it doesn’t display the latest uploaded items after uploading, you need to reopen the modal or switch between “file upload” and “media library” tabs to reload the data and be able to see your last uploaded items.

Also, the first dropdown inside this modal (Images, Video, etc) for Filtering media, stops working inside the modal, it doesn’t trigger the reload when you change it. The search box works, but it keeps the last selected filter item so you end up needing to reload the page to stop filtering by media type.

The caption is correct, it is a link that opens in new tab and has a rel attribute.
How can I achieve the same on the media. Now when I click on the media it opens in the same tab, and doesn’t have the rel attribute.

I used to bulk edit many images at once, first selecting several with the click box, then selecting the “edit” option on the top scrolldown menu, and finally the “apply” button. At this point, instead of getting blank boxes of the corresponding image fields I receive the message “Item [number of the image], no changes detected”. As if I had already attempted to submit the changes, which I did not.

Hi David, I have a problem in 3.17 version of your wonderful plugin.

I have a widget (a wordpress standard “Custom HTML” one) in my homepage that show the latest uploaded pictures. The jquery gallery plugin that show the images with the help of MLA is called “Fotorama”.
Its sintax is the following:

[mla_gallery post_parent=all link=post orderby=date order=DESC numberposts=20 mla_alt_shortcode=gallery height="240" allowfullscreen="true"]

With 3.16 version it shows correctly the latest 20 images starting from the last one.
With 3.17 version it shows the FIRST 20 images, like the “order=DESC” was changed to “order=ASC”. With 3.17, manually changing to “order=ASC” shows the same behaviour too.

In 3.17 changelog it is stated that “Fix: A problem with formatting the order= portion of the SQL orderby clause from shortcode parameters has been corrected.”. Is this fix that could cause my strage behaviour?
In the meantime I rollbacked MLA to 3.16 version.

I have a Custom Post type in ACF, called ‘Artist’

When I import images, I am trying to map the image EXIF:Artist value, to specific Posts that have been created with the same value.

i.e.

ACF Post Type ‘Artist’ = Post Name: “Artist-A”

EXIF:Artist: “Artist-A”

I have tried to create a custom mapping rule for this but it doesn’t seem to be mapping correctly.

I have tried both ‘artist’ and ‘custom:artist’ as the value name.

I have validated that the value on the image for ‘EXIF: Artist’ matches the same string title for the Custom ‘Artist’ Post Types I’ve created.

The ACF Post Types are then mapped on the image attributes like this:

Is it possible to map EXIF data -> ACF data in this way, or am I doing something crazy beyond OOTB features? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone had success with multiple attributes contained in a EXIF attribute.

i.e. for the Attribute ‘IPTC:By-line’, I have the attribute data

A,B

Instead of the Attributes being treated disctincly as “A” and “B”, they are imported as “A,B”.

Here is the settings I am using, taken from the ‘Edit Rule: Custom field mapping

IPTC Value: 2#080 by-line

Priority: IPTC

Existing Text: Keep

Format: Commas

Option: Multi

I’m using a template I’ve created for mla_gallery that has the following in Open:

The tax_logic is chosen from a simple HTML <select> with two options – “Match all tags” (value: AND) and “Match any tags” (value: OR).

Annoyingly, though, it outputs the following:

Found 38 images tagged with "tag1" / "tag2" / "tag3" (match [+request:tax_logic,str_replace({'AND' 'OR'}, {'all' 'any'})+] tags)

Have I missed something? Is there something I’m not doing right? Or is this a legit bug?

When adding an image to an Elementor page, the Media browser that opens has the first row of images partly hidden. Must be some incompatibility between MLA and Elementor.

Would it be possible to implement a duplicate image option. So I would have two images where I could leave the original and customize the duplicate.

I have a problem with rewriting my URLs for viewing the images filtered by tag.
I don’t see any image showing up when visiting my page via rewrited url (https://domain.com/photos-by-tag/tag-name). It works fine when visiting the page with the original url (https://domain.com/photos-by-tag/?tag=tag-name&current_item=tag-name)

Is there any way I can make this work?

I have a question re pagination.
I based my shortcodes on your single-sample example in your documentation.
My question : is there a way to get the current id from the pagination part of the shortcode without passing it in a url argument?
I have seperate pages for each image. Apparently the attachment tag can be specified in the shortcode instead of in the url argument.

I installed Insert Fixit Tools a few days ago and I’m really impressed by what it can do, especially that I tried many before. I have ML of 90k images and unfortunately thousands and thousands of them are unattached to parent posts and Insert Fixit is a huge help in getting it done. The problem I have is that I can serve between 10 and 20 posts (usually up to 100 images) in one go before my hosting server times out. And I have more than 20k posts so you cane imagine the work involved ?? Is there any way to schedule the attaching procedure in order to automate the whole process without the need to restart it every 15 or so posts? Thanks a lot.

I’ve just installed this plugin and I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the options it offers, so I thought I’d better ask here instead of reading so much help pages.

Due to copyright issues with media with one of my clients, I’d had to temporarily disable some media from showing in frontend until validated as suitable, but need them to show in admin for review. I thought approaching this with defining an att. category or a custom field with the name Admin_only, and then write a code for the requested behavior in functions.php, using the plugin for bulk edit the media to have this category or field enabled/disabled for them.

so I’d like to know how do I call a category or custom field from the code. by their slug?

Or, if the plugin already have a solution to such a request included.
