Hello, in all my websites the dry test is ok, but when I want to do the job I have a Ajax error.
I have no firewall
The first time, I success in import my files. But a found a mistake, I need to change an option :
If file timestamp does not match the folder in which it is – it will construct the date/time based on the folder: {year}-{month}-01 00:00:00.
When I try again to scan, I got :
[Media Sync] No files selected.
What can I do to update folder uploads in database?
On Dry Run everything works fine, but on actuall import, the plugin is importing only one file and then stops.
There’s information to “check each failed row or console log for more details” – there’s nothing on failed row of importing files and the log is blank as well – only with information that it ‘starting’.
]]>Hello,
The plugin imports the media correctly. But once imported, if i delete the media from media library, that file does not removed from uploads folder only not showing on the media library. But i can see the image from link & can see the file on the FTP.
]]>Here is our problem:
We have uploaded SVG files to the correct folder in “uploads” via sftp. But when we run the media sync plugin, it is not showing them so we cannot sync to the media area in wordpress. It has worked in the past so this is very strange. It shouldn’t be an issue with the file type either in our case. Doesn’t matter how many times we rescan. It doesn’t show the files in uploads/2024/07/ and we have confirmed they are in fact there.
]]>Hello. I believe there is a bug with non latin characters and sub-folders with long non latin characters names.
To replicate it create the folder structure below
ΦΑΚΕΛΟΣ
- SSSSSSSSS FFF LLLLLLLLLLL PPPPPPPPPP GGGGGGGGGG VVVVVVVVV
-- test.txt
-- test.txt
Go to media sync -> scan and check the output.
The test.txt that is inside the folder with Greek characters is not showing up although it exists in server.
]]>Hello!
i need to sync a huge media library from an old site to a brand new WP installation and i am considering buying the Pro Version of the plugin.
An important consideration is to preserve the IDs of the Media Files – so that in the new WP installation all files have the exact same ID as in the old site.
Can this be done with the plugin?
Thank you in advance for your answer!
regards, andi

Hello. Does your plugin support importing other file formats like .tiff, .pdf, ..csv etc? I tried to import them, it scanned them and then pressed import (without dry run) but they are not showing in the media library.
]]>Hi! I’m importing many files (most of them videos) that I have upload through FTP. Media Sync has recognized most of them, but for some of them I’m getting the next error (in spanish, I have traslated it so maybe the translation is not exactly the same to the original english error message):
“The attachment ID for the inserted attachment ( wp_post
table) for the file has not been received”
What could be the reason for this? Most of the files have quite long names and are in several folders, for example:
“/wp-content/uploads/course/06-06_Anatomy_and_parts_of_the_human_figure_Intermediate_Level/02-02_The_anatomy_of_the_arm/05-How_to_sintetize_structures_of_the_arm.mp4”
Media Sync somehow syncronizes some of the files and some others not, and I can′t find a pattern in terms of the many levels of folders, the lenght of the file names, the numbers, the underscores, the file weight…
I have tried to delete and upload again the files through FTP without result, but if I change the name of one of the files to “example.mp4” instead of the longest file name like “01-How_to_sintetize_structures_of_the_arm_PART01.mp4”, somehow Media Sync is able to detect the file and add it correctly to my WordPress Library. But I need my files to be named “the longer version”.
The fact than just by changing the name of the file makes Media Sync to recognize the file leaves me confused. Where could be the issue?
Thanks in advance
A recent update to Media Sync removed the option to specify an upload folder to scan. As a result, it always scans all folders, which takes a VERY long time. And selecting folders within the list is also VERY slow.
Please restore the option to select an upload folder to scan. And please add that option to the main Media Sync section, instead of in Settings.
]]>I am eager to try this plugin but when I try to use it I briefly see options to scan and then I get a 404
This is the page that does not load
/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=media-sync-options
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks
]]>Hello support team,
We’ve managed to sync the FTP files with our Media Library, but we’re encountering an issue with syncing directories. Specifically, although files from 2019 are present, our Media Library only displays files from 2024.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Thank you.
]]>Hello, I was uploading some media files and then I went back to rescan and now I am just getting a white screen when I click scan files. This is the first time this has happened – I had debug mode on and the sync stopped and I got a WordPress critical error, however the rest of the site is fine. Any thoughts?
]]>I get a 404 error when trying to access Media Sync.
I see the page wp-admin/options-general.php?page=media-sync-options appear for a moment then I get a redirect to a URL that looks like this: z0f76a1d14fd21a8fb5fd0d03e0fdc3d3cedae52f?wsidchk=28950093
I have this problem on several sites. I looked a little in the forums, it seems that it could be a Firewall problem. I disabled Wordfence on a site but that didn’t solve the problem
In version 1.4.2 you removed this option:
Can you please send me your old version 1.4.1 because I have updated it automatically and now I cannot set the scan directory any more…
Best Regards,
Primo?
]]>I have imported the files but when i click on Re-scan, I keep getting message
Please backup your database! This plugin makes database changes.
How do I proceed if I have taken a backup?
I bought the pro Version installed uploaded the images into the upload folder. Scan it with media sinc (found). Checked the needed Files , started import section, i looked into the libery, the files name are there without thumbnail, hmm ok, klicked to see the picture, was returned to 404, tryed to download so result picture is not there
]]>The plugin stopped working a few days ago. When clicking on the “Media Sync” link, a widget window appears for a short time with a large space on top and a missing “Media Sync Pro” block, and after a few seconds I am informed that the page cannot be found. I tried to restore from a backup, reinstalled the plugin, checked in different browsers – nothing helps.
BUT! If I transfer BackUp to a local server, then everything works there.

]]>hi
I have used your plugin and it worked well, but something I notived the other day and there is 6 x the same images in media file, see here: https://app.screencast.com/FUoDNDE0B71tC
So loads of duplicates, although in the folders on server there is still only one image?!
Most strange!!
When I use the plugin to import a file not yet included in the media library the import functions properly except the post meta “_wp_attachment_metadata” is getting an incorrect value causing other plugins (such as Imagify) to say the file doesn’t exists. From what I can tell the meta data is showing up as ‘E:/homepages/1/username/www/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/test-file.gif’ instead of ‘2020/02/test-file.gif’ like other files have that work. If I manually change this value Imagify is able to find the file and functions properly. I’m using WordPress on a Windows server.
]]>Used Mediasync and the tool literally deleted all media files. Tried to sync over 10K images and the tool crashed causing an error on WP.
Tested this out on a dedicated instance with its own resources to test capability
Strongly suggest that you back up your site and media files before proceeding. Highly unfortunate.
Need help or assistance on how to move forward.
]]>Hi, in a previous post, you said:
Base WordPress does not support “replacement” of media objects.
There are plugins out there that may help you, but you need to be sure it will preserve your media meta data (such as description).
Has this been addressed since then in a more recent update to media-sync?
I want to replace low-res images with hi-res versions. I have FTP’d the hi-res files into the appropriate folders and overwritten the lo-res copies.
But the website continues to display low-res images.
How do I modify the database to display the hi-res version?
(and b. where is it getting the low-res version from????)
Very many thanks.
Phil.
I use php version 8.2 and see this message
Deprecated: Constant FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING is deprecated in D:\LocalProjects\rcusa\app\public\wp-content\plugins\media-sync\media-sync.php on line 152
Can you fix it ?
]]>Greetings!
We are using the Media Sync plugin on our website at reputation.com. As part of our ISO27001 and SOC2 Type II certification requirements, we do an annual vendor risk assessment.
We have a questionnaire for the owner/administrator of the Media Sync plugin that we need completed in order to maintain our certification requirements. Who should I send this questionnaire to, along with supporting documentation?
Thank You
]]>I use the Smush plugin by WPMU DEV, which auto-compresses images to /wp-content/smush-webp/year/month/file-000×000.png.webp (WebP is optional).
I understand that I can use a filter to modify filename selection. But can we modify the source folder from wp-content/uploads to something else?
My goal is to select and copy into the Media Library, all files from that folder that are resized to -300×300.png.webp. Then I can attach files where required, as featured images, etc, and then delete the files that aren’t used.
Can someone suggest a pattern, specific steps, to do this operation? … Or suggest code plugin code changes required to make this easier?
I can easily just copy the files to uploads/smush… if that makes this easier.
Thanks!
]]>Media synch doesn’t seem to be scanning for files 1mb or larger. Is this intentional? I don’t see anything in the topics about it.
]]>After updating to the latest version (from 1.3.1. to 1.3.2), the recognition of existing files in the media library no longer works.
]]>Hello,
The question is the following, I deleted all duplicate photos that were created at different sizes and also cropped photos, which still will not be detected by this plugin.
But for some reason, after importing photos into the WordPress library, I again see the created thumbnails of different sizes.
Is this created by a plugin or theme? I didn’t find in the topic that it crops the photo.
I want to get rid of the extra amount of thumbnails of different sizes, but I’m running into creating them again because there are a lot of them being created.
]]>I’m recreating a site for a client and have to upload the images directly then resync them. Media Sync seemed to work great for this until I noticed a number of missing images.
The missing images are all .jpeg rather than .jpg.
During a scan, jpeg images don’t seem to be included in the scan results, therefore I can’t select them to import them. I can see them in the server file browser, and I can display those images when direct referencing their url, but media sync doesn’t see them during a sync.
I’m using version 1.3.1
