I use the ‘[members_access]’ shortcode to display a button to people who have a subscription to my site.
I want to display alternate text to those who do NOT yet have a subscription – taking them to the page where they can buy one.
I have looked at the code on github, and could fork it and write a new function in functions-shortcodes.php to do the reverse of what
add_shortcode( ‘members_access’, ‘members_access_check_shortcode’ );
with something like
add_shortcode( ‘members_access_not’, ‘members_access_check_shortcode_not’ );
but is there anotehr way?
Is this plugin still being supported? Please just let us know either way. It hasn’t been updated in about two years. But it’s much needed! Thanks for your reply!

]]>I have been using this and all has been well, until my update of WP.
Now, when someone accesses a “locked page”, it redirects them to the login page (which is great). BUT, after they log on, it takes them to the dashboard… and not back to the page they tried to access in the first place.
I have not been able to find out how to make it a custom redirect. I want them to be directed to the login page then redirected back to the locked page. Anyone know how to do this using this plugin?

i use this plugin instead of www.ads-software.com/plugins/user-access-manager (requires managing users/groups) or www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-members (requires customization to hide teaser excerpts) and i may someday want some pages/posts to be publicly visible.
should i switch to one of those, or is there another one i should try that wouldn’t block self-pingbacks?

]]>I have recently been experiencing a too many redirects error message which shuts down access to my site. I deactivated all my plugins until the problem cleared up and it stops the error code when I deactive member access. I also have been receiving emails from my host that I am using too many resources. Mine is a small site with very little activity and this only started when I started having the error message for member access. I tried deleting it and reloadng it but that didn’t do it. I have to deactivate the plugin then reactivate it and its good for a little while…maybe a day then the error pops up again. I’m not sure what to do but change the plugin to something else although I don’t know if that will solve the problem.

]]>I’d like to know if I can have the plugin restrict access for one or more categories. At this point, I’m having to select the restrict option for each post under the category, though if I forget to do it (or someone else posting forgets) then it will slip through the cracks and be accessible by the guests.

]]>In my case I don’t get any errors and plugin redirects accesses to member pages correctly to login. Login URL has REQUEST variable added and looks like https://site.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fsite.com%2Fmembersite%2F. But after successful login it doesn’t redirect to named site but goes to front page.
So actually it doesn’t seem to be an error of this plugin and looks more like a WP problem.

I like the simplicity of this plugin for installs that don’t need a complex hierarchy of user roles. However, there is one issue that I’ve come across with respect to creating new user accounts. When an account is created in the back-end by an administrator an activation email is generated to the new account’s email address. The activation link in the email is blocked by the “By default, only members can view pages” option of Member Access. Unchecking this option will allow the activation link to function but then one must manually click the radio button to make each page restricted to members only (this is bound to cause inadvertent exposure of private material at some point).
Is there any way that the activation link can be unrestricted? Or a check box provided to either allow or disallow access to the account activation page?

I have just downloaded this tool which looks awesome, it’s free and seemingly has everything I need for a simple member portal on my site. However, the instructions/documentation say nothing about the creation or configuration of a registration page, where users create their username/password combo to create an “account” or “profile” with the site (which I assume would use the site’s existing database).
I do see that the default member “redirect” sends you to the wp-login page, but surely it is not intended for any individual with a generic WordPress account to have access to your specific site using this plugin. So, my questions is: how does one go about creating a registration page (obviously this is the easy part) that provides the user with a very simple form to collect basic data and create an account based of the provided credentials. The data should be sent to the existing WP database and be able to be stored/retrieved when the user needs to log in again.
If this is something that I will need to create manually, does anyone have any insight on any easy way for someone with minimal SQL experience to create this feature?

However, since approximately 1/1/2013 this functionality appears to be broken, and any private posts do not show up at all in the RSS feed.

]]>If I enable the redirect of pages or posts I end up in a redirect loop which errors out with the below. I have tried redirecting to different pages with the same result. If I disable redirect I just go to the front page of the site when trying to access a restricted page.
