I paid 49$ for the pro version ?? Completely useless. Tried 10 times and gave up. Why would you pay so much for a buddypress csv import plugin that does not work straightforward?
Found a BETTER and FREE one at : [ Redacted. Don’t do that, OK? Keep the review about this plugin ]

I think developer is not supporting the plugin for both pro version as well as free version. The support form on websites returns with error and he doesn’t reply on WP forum either.

Very barebones, not what I would use to welcome a batch of new users to the site. Seems to do what it says though. It would be nice to be able to customize the message sent to users.
I had originally given it 2 stars but would like to change it to 3.

I can imagine that people with little or no knowledge of Excel would have a hard time to run this plugin… too bad, because the plugin works great!

This import didn’t work cleanly. The user description would sometimes show up in the last name field, for example. This may be due to having more complex user data from buddypress… however using another import plugin worked fine.

Hello Everyone,
The plugin did eventually work. The other review with the column names helped.
It also turns out that you have to have the newline character be \n\r instead of just \r. These characters don’t show in an editor by default (I used bbedit). But when I replaced \r with \n\r the import worked. Hope this helps someone.

It simply did what it promised.
I exported data from one installation using export to csv, removed all unnecessary columns from the csv, imported the users, done.

The CSV file is designed for US addresses only (city, State, ZIP). To the best of my knowledge, the web extends beyond US borders (humor intended, not sarcasm). Could we please have a field for country? Thanks!

I only gave this a 4 star rating because the instructions were very lacking I felt. Once I got it to work, it did the job very nicely. I did this working from my Mac but I’m sure the same will hold true no matter what you use. I’m sure someone will have a comment or two but this is what I did and it worked. I’m including this in my review so no one should have to waste much time figuring it out.
*** Members import fields ****

$userdata_fields = array(
‘user_login’, ‘user_pass’,
‘user_email’, ‘user_url’, ‘user_nicename’,
‘display_name’, ‘user_registered’, ‘first_name’,
‘last_name’, ‘nickname’, ‘description’,

The above is exactly how the fields have to be laid out in Excel and the CSV file to import to WP. All of the fields with the exception of the date field will need double quotes i.e. “name”. All delimited by a comma. To do this in Excel, all the fields need to be hi-lited. Then go to Format -> Cells -> Custom. In the Type field enter \”@\” then click OK. All the fields now appear to have double quotes. Next do a Save As and select for Windows CSV file. The others won’t work!
For the next step open the saved CSV file in a text editor like Komodo Edit or Note Pad, etc… You’ll see there are 3 sets of quote marks around each field(“””name”””). Now go to Edit -> Replace or Find/Replace. Search for “”” and replace with “. All fields should now be delimited with only one set of double quotes i.e. “name” not “””name”””. Save the file.
In WP select Import Member, the CSV file, your options and then Register. When it completes click on All Users and they should be there. If you go into cPanel and phpAdmin, then select wp_users and the Browse tab, there they are. Also select wp-usermeta and Browse to further verify data.

This issue is several months old without a resolution. I searched the forums and tried different versions of csv files as suggested. I get a successfully imported messages but the users are not imported.

This plugin streamlined a website migration. I especially appreciated the option to automatically set the username to the email address, which was a small detail with big payoff for this project.
For ease of use, I’d recommend having a cheat sheet of field names on the import screen.
Thanks for the lovely work.
