Hello Guys, we made it work, was totally fine, but since the new WordPress upgrade to 5.7 it just crashed.
Can you please look into it or test it, please?
Thanks!!
]]>Hi, i was working on a page, using the built-in queries. On Tuesday, everything worked fine. Meanwhile, the WordPress was updated to version 5.6.2.
Now it is not working at all. Could it be the problem? Can i fix it somehow? Thanks!
We are using the plugin with a custom template to render the page…?for the most part, it works well. However, we would like to uncheck the “group as sorted” box, and I can’t seem to find it in the template or settings anywhere. Please help if you can.
]]>Is this plugin abandoned? I’m unable to retrieve a token: Failed retrieving OAuth2 access token: {“message”:”Credentials are required to access this resource.”
I updated my mendeley account to the Elsevier and it didn’t work so I switched it back and it doesn’t work.
So, since this hasn’t been updated in long time, I have to ask: Has it been abandoned?
What are people using instead and how was the migration?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I recently updated to php 7.2 which could be the problem…
]]>Hi !
The DOI of my publications are not displayed as hyperlink when I am using a CSL template : https://cyvigroup.org/?page_id=675
Whereas URL are displayed as hyperlink without CSL template : https://cyvigroup.org/?page_id=876
How can I display DOI as hyperlink when using CSL ?
Thank you in advance.
PS : thanks for the development of this great plugin !
]]>Hi, I’m having trouble getting the “My Publications” Widget to yield anything at all. Similarly, if I use the “Collection” widget with Collection Type set to folder, it yields nothing. I have had success when Collection Type is set to group, but the collections I actually want to display are in My Publications and another folder, not in a group. Is this a known issue?
]]>Thank you for a great and unique plugin.
As I prepare a website to be upgraded to use PHP 7.3x, I ran the PHP Compatibility Checker plugin to check for errors or warnings running new versions of PHP. Checking for PHP v7.2 (latest PHP version available on the plugin) I got a report that listed one error and two warnings for the Mendeley plugin. Just wondering if the Mendeley plugin has been tested for compatibility with PHP 7.3x. WordPress now recommends PHP v7.3x so it would be great if the Medeley plugin was fully compatible with PHP v7.3x. Here are the errors/warnings reported:
FOUND 1 ERROR AND 2 WARNINGS AFFECTING 3 LINES
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
225 | ERROR | Indirect access to variables, properties and methods will be evaluated strictly in left-to-right order since PHP 7.0. Use curly braces to remove ambiguity.
2121 | WARNING | Function create_function() is deprecated since PHP 7.2; Use an anonymous function instead
2122 | WARNING | Function create_function() is deprecated since PHP 7.2; Use an anonymous function instead
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your contribution to the WP community and a great plugin.

]]>When using the latest version of the Mendeley plugin, I’m attempting to retrieve my folders with the contents being grouped by authors. Instead of retrieving my articles with the contents being grouped by the lead author for each article, I’m instead retrieving a list with each item headed by the word “Array”, with the citation for the article listed on the line underneath. I suspect the Array is being inserted by a call that is retrieving an incorrect or non-existent field. Using groupby= with other attributes (e.g. “year”, “source”, etc.) work correctly.
(For the moment, I’m going to “solve” my problem by switching to a different item to group by — probably “source”. I thought it might be wise to let others know there’s a bug that needs to be dealt with, though, as it would be handy to be able to list my folder contents by authors eventually on my WordPress site.)
]]>Hi,
After setting up the details for requesting token and I typed again the account details at the mendeley page, the plugin indicates “Failed retrieving OAuth2 access token: Failed to connect to api.mendeley.com port 443: Connection refused’.
Is that due to the cURL problem? I have no idea how to enable it.
Any other solutions to this problem?
Thanks so much,
Dickson
Hello!
I’ve been using the Mendeley plugin for some time, and when my token expired, i proceed into requesting a new token, but i’m not managing to make it happen.
I registered the API in the mendeley dev site, filled the mendeley plugin page on my wordpress dashboard with the ID and the secret key, clicked on “Request and Authorize Access Token”, I am redirected to a Mendeley page to give my Mendeley credentials, and when I do so and click in “authorize”, I’m sent back to the plugin page, with the error message
Failed retrieving OAuth2 access token: {“message”:”Credentials are required to access this resource.”}
I tried both on Chrome and Firefox, and I guess somehow when I put my credentials, Mendeley is not authorizing me. Can somebody help me?

Thank you for the help!
]]>Hi,
I have been trying to use the Mendeley plugin for my research group website to showcase our publications. However, I get the following error.
“Failed retrieving OAuth2 access token: SSL connect error”
Can you please tell me what is the problem and how I can solve it.
Before this, I was trying the same on localhost and there it worked fine. Now, I am trying to upload my website on university’s server.
Hi,
It looks like the revisions to allow custom CSL to display were deleted between version 1.1.19 and 1.1.20.
The issue I’m posting about here is when I update from 1.1.19 to 1.1.20 my custom CSL doesn’t display the publications. I just see a list of the years.
The previous discussion and codefix can be found here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-csl-in-1-1-18/
I’ve been trying to avoid updating but then did it by mistake a few times. I can roll back to the old version but I thought I probably ought to let you know so it can be fixed for future versions.
Thanks in advance!

]]>Hi,
I am using Mendeley plugin for WordPress for my research group website and it is very helpful.
But I cannot seem to get the numbering while using a simple shortcode. Is there a way to have numbering starting from 1 for each time I use the shortcode? I can make changes in the original plugin if necessary.
Thank you.
]]>Hi,
I want to crate an annotated bibliography list, which has a link to the doi/URL. In my custom csl I included “<text variable=”abstract” display=”block”/>” in the <bibliography>, but if I use the style = “link” in the shortcodes from the MendeleyWordpress plugin, the abstract is not shown. Can you help me fix this?
Thanks,

Hi,
I’m using your very nice plugin to show our lab’s publications on our website.
Is there a way to limit the number of references shown? I am trying to show our three most recent publications on the front page with a link to our full bibliography.
One workaround would of course be to just make another Mendeley group where I manually add the latest papers but I’m hoping for something more elegant…
Thank you
/Henrik
Hi,
We’re using your plugin for some very long publication lists grouped by year and would like to sort the entries (newest on top). Default seems to be oldest entry on top… So I’ve tried this:
[mendeley type=”folders” id=”8f2e7172-7655-4596-8994-ad5e3f209aa7″ sortby=”year” sortbyorder=”asc” groupby=”year” groupbyorder=”desc”]
But regardless of whether I use “asc” or “desc” in sortbyorder and groupbyorder there’s no effect and no reordering ??
Do I use the right attributes? Or don’t they simply work anymore?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hello! First I’d like to thank you for the awesome plugin that is helping me a lot in listing in a easy way all of my groups papers!
I’m from Brazil and here we have a specific citation style (we call it ABNT) and i’m usin a specific .csl that brings in the end of the citation
“Availiable at: [URL].” (in the csl’s context the “Availiable at: ” is a text given, [URL] is the variable “URL” from the paper itself given by Mendeley and the ending “.” is another text given.
The csl is working in everithing else but in inserting the specific part of the URL. It shows in the page “Availiable at: .”, missing the URL itself. If I use the defaut citation style (without any csl), all the URL appears in the form of a hyperlink named “URL” (so they in fact exists).
Is there any way I could learn how the default citation style writes the URL so I could copy to my csl? (I have a beginer knowledge in coding, I’m not the creator of my site).
]]>Sorry to bug you again but my previous post was marked resolved but I’m still having issues.
I installed the new version, cleared cache (browser and plugin) and retrieved a new access token from Mendeley. Unfortunately it isn’t working with a local csl or an external one.
I pasted the old code from the forum post into the new formatDocument function and it works again. Could it be that my CURL server settings mess it up with the new code? If so, what should the CURL settings be?
Also, I am running php7.
Several months ago I posted an issue regarding the use of a custom csl and the Mendeley plugin would only display the years. That thread can be seen here.
Nutshell: If I use a custom csl located on the web server, it doesn’t work. If I put it on an external file server it does.
The code supplied by @dinel2016 in that previous thread worked like a charm. Unfortunately when I update the Mendeley plugin the problem comes back. The info is being returned but with the exception of years, it’s not being displayed.
I’ve tried pasting that successful code in the new versions of Mendeley but it still doesn’t work.
I’ve been using Mendeley version 1.1.12 but if upgrade from there it looks like this. This is a dev site so I have debugging turned on. Results are cached (I’ve tested w/ no cache but no joy).
If you click on “Book Chapters” or “Patents” on that page, it works. But Dissertations and Original Articles does not. There are more returns (>10) for those two pages. Could there be a limit on returns in the plugin code?
This occurs with every version of the Mendeley plugin since 1.1.12.
Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
]]>Hello,
I wonder whether there is any interest in implementing a feature which disable cache refreshing. From time to time, I discover that the plugin does not produce any output. I believe this is due to mendeley invalidating the token. The sequence “Request and authorize token” + “Empty cache” usually fixes this problem. Given that I use the plugin for a list of publications that changes rarely, it makes sense to manually refresh the list.
I am happy to give it a try to add the option so that the formatted output is not refreshed (and for the rest). Is there anything I should be aware of?
Regards,
Constantin
]]>Hi,
I really appreciate the Mendeley plugin and its standard output. I wouldn’t want to specify any CLS stylesheet, but I would like to modify the author format. In particular, I would change the sequence name/surname by putting the surname before the name (Corbet P., instead of the standard output P. Corbet). Is this change possible?
Thank you,
Gianandrea
Hi
Nice plugin which is exceedingly useful (I’m using the latest version)
However, it does seem a bit unreliable. I get it set up and pull down a list of references. I come back the next day and nothing! In the meantime nothing has changed as far as I know.
As to fixing this, nothing seems to to work consistently. Clearing every cache in sight, deleting/renewing/refreshing tokens etc. All these things work to revive the connection to the database but different actions at different times. I am using a basic shortcode with no CSL, just the folder id and a sort order.
I wonder if there is any advice you have that might help me improve the reliability of the connection with Mendeley?
I got so frustrated with this that I tried Zotero. There is a similar WP plugin for that and it works like a dream. However, I have come back to Mendeley because Zotero is not so good with its desktop application. But I remain frustrated by the flakey connection (though I realise that this could be Mendeley rather than this plugin).
Thanks in advance for any advice.

]]>Hi,
I’m trying to implement Mendeley plugin on my laboratory site. I’ve obtained Mendeley API client ID and API Client Secret, but when I click “request and authorize access token” in the Mendeley set up page, after the authentication on Mendeley site this error occurs on the plugin setup page:
Failed retrieving OAuth2 access token: Received HTTP code 403 from proxy after CONNECT
have anyone some solution?
The Mendeley Access Token is blank and cannot be edited, it expires at 01.01.1970.
]]>Hi,
First of all: Great plugin, thanks!
Second a question: I’ve got some very long publication lists which take some time to load from Mendeley into the Mendeley plugin cache, so I’ve set up a cronjob to load the WordPress pages automatically to force the plugin to get the new content for the cache.
Now I can’t figure out when the Mendeley plugin refreshes its cache when it’s set to daily refresh… Is it midnight? Universal time (UTC)? As shown in the plugin settings under API Key -> Expires…
Thanks in advance,
Chris
Hello,
I’m using the Simile/Exhibit Template (bibexhibit.tpl.php) to show the content of a folder in Mendeley.
I’d like to use DOI link instead of Mendeley’s one when clicking in a publication title but I haven’t found a reference for it to be used. Is there anywhere to check for the data supplied to Exhibit?
