minlength argument for textarea field does not appear to block zero-character submissions. You can see this in sidebar form at https://www.justfrugality.com

A zero-character submission is accepted. If 1 to 9 characters is submitted (minlength=10, in this case), it is blocked as expected.

I am receiving spam from bots that leave the textarea blank.

I installed and tested quickly the plugin. It works but there is a warning message in Contact Form 7 form editor but only when this plugin is activated.

CF7 4.1 released 27 Jan has support for minlength and maxlength as standard.

Good morning, this plugin is very useful, but there’s a limit: in my form i have some fields that are not mandatory, but i set a minimun lenght (in case they are filled); i don’t want the validation gives me a “minimum length” error if the field is not filled, but only if it is.
I think this is the right logic that this plugin should have, what do you think about?

Not sure what I’m doing wrong… I installed it fine, but no minlength shows up when I try to create a Text Field. I made sure that my Contact Form 7 is up to date, as well as my theme (salient) and I’m on WordPress 4.0.

Hi there,

I would like to change the language or the text of the error message.

Right now it is “The text needs a minimum length” and I would like to edit that text to something in my language (spanish in this case).

I have modified this archive: minimum-length-for-contact-form-7/wpcf7_min_length.php but it is not working for me.

Is het mogelijk enkel de min-length validatie te laten werken vanaf er een cijfer is ingevuld?
Momenteel geeft het formulier ook een error hoewel het veld niet ‘required’ is.

Hi,

I came across this plugin and try it for other use aside from the specified (textfield). I noticed that you can assign minlength to other fields like the “telephone” field but it’s not working.

I hope you can make Contact Form 7 minlength extension functional on telephone field also.

Hiya, can’t get this plugin to work as described – I’ve tried with text and telephone number fields and it makes no difference. Any chance there’s an easy fix for it?

Does this plugin add validation? So if I add a min length of say 5 to a text field, if the user only added 4 characters will it give the user an error?

I just tried to install this plug-in and it did something to my site where I could not log-in to my site. I got the following error message:
