Was looking for a replacement for a foot pints plug-in that is not longer being developed. Modern Footnotes is the perfect solution. And includes block support to boot. I was able to seamlessly transition and still use my existing shortcodes. Responsiveness from the developer made it a no brainer

This really is an awesome plugin! The learning curve on being able to use it is very short. It serves all of the functionality that people would need when they need to document or footnote their posts and pages.
And, especially for a free plugin, the support is equally amazing! I have had three (3) questions and each was answered in a very timely manner…giving me the specific information that I needed to accomplish what I was needing.

My website that I was working on is actually putting my two books fully online. I had a lot of footnotes and I searched high and low for a footnote plugin that met my desired needs. First time round, I gave up. But then later I found this plugin and it was all I needed. I highly recommend it for anybody that needs to do footnotes on their blog or website.

Compare with CM Footnote plugin,I found Modern Footnotes is the best.
CM Footnote plugin needs to insert id manually, if you have serialized your footnote id from 1 to 100 ,and want to add a new footnote in 1-100, you must modify the id number one by one.
Modern Footnotes serialize your footnote id automaticaly, it’s very good.
While if the plugin support rich text(especially support hypertext),that would be further best.

It’s simple, and it works.

This is a great piece of work, so much credit to Sean Williams of Prism for graciously providing this gratis. It’s beautiful, and made my task very easy. Being able to see the footnotes inline makes reading huge documents on desktops and all docs on mobiles a much less painful/disorienting process.

This plugin works very well with a minimum of effort on the user part. The output is good looking even with some very looong notes. And you can customize it quite easily, if you want a different look. It is very light on the page, and works well in mobile, something very needful nowadays but difficult to find. To top all this, the support is very good and quick. The author always answer questions quickly, gives good solutions and is very nice and friendly!

Like mentioned before the plugin is very easy to use, and very straight forward. However, the footnotes are displayed as a # href, and by clicking on it, it jumps to the top of my pages. Not suitable for my theme. This needs a different approach. But keep up the good work!

This is a very useful plugin.
The only thing I miss is a shortcode to place a list of all those footnotes somewhere in my post (not necessarily the end), which is needed for printouts.
As a workaround I place a link inside my footnotes, like this:

[mfn]This is my second footnote. <a id="mfn2" href="#mfn-2">➥</a>[/mfn]
