A must have plugin for a multisite. If the multisite is used for a multilingual wordpress site where the media is the same for all blogs this plugin is a life saver :). Many thanks for this useful plugin!

Just tried it out with WP 4.9.6 and it seems to work fine. Thanks!

The feature only is available while adding media to a post/page. I am unable to get it work with my Soliloquy Slider. I was also hoping to access other site media from library.

Using it on my MU site, tweaked it slightly so it only pulls from one site that I want its media library shared with all others, but only that one. Gives my users access to a media library I manage only.

Seems to work well, thanks.

Great idea, implementation needs some work though, even though you can see the images across the network of subsites, you can not insert media, only paste urls but referencing other sites,
Implementing a feature to “share across network” only individual images would be ideal, since we don’t want to share every image, since they are own by different sites operators, but just some placeholders for newly created sites.
Good overall, does what it claims it does on the default mode, but not on multisite, at least v4.4.2.
Thanks!

This is a great plugin to share images between sites. Be sure to add the Multisite Featured Image plugin to get Featured Image support. These both worked fine for me on my WordPress 4.4.2 installation.
The only “rough edge” for me was understanding that you don’t simply click on the image to add it. You have to select “Show” and then “Insert into Post” to complete the operation.
Thanks Joost! Well done!

I have tried it (Three times) on my wordpress multisite version 4.4.1–en_GB but not been able to get it to work.
This is a shame as it promises to be worth having.
I see the last update as 6 months ago – are there any plans to update it again or more often?

But a little bit tricky…
Nice tool anyway!

Does a good job

Media management and featured image are not supported…

Two things;
1. Does not work when using DIVI theme page builder, Slider Edit > Set Background.
There is no ‘Network’ tab.
2. When switching between domains the loading of images seems slow, and there is no way to change pagination results or thumbnail size.
Otherwise A-1

The plugin does what it say, so 5 stars for full functionality as a minimal viable product and clean implementation (no errors or warnings in debug mode).
However, in order to provide a valid solution for the proposed used case of sharing media across networks, the full media library feature set would need to be supported including gallery creation/modification as well as featured images and media imports through the Media page (without inserting an image into a post).
I’ve heard the API for media in WordPress is still somewhat incomplete as of 4.1, so I understand those ?missing“ features probably are a question of technical factors and of the general development challenges most free plugins have in common.
I’m going to contact the plugin author for a quick discussion of potential collaboration on this otherwise very useful and referable plugin.

I had hoped this plugin was going to allow me to share all my images between my multilingual multisites but it is not ready yet for this. First of all, like many other people have requested, you can’t set a feature image from your shared media. Secondly, you can’t share images you have uploaded from your first site. If I upload an image from any other site, you can then share the image with other sites. And thirdly, you can only share media you have uploaded within your post. You can’t share it if it has been uploaded from the media page.
Hopefully the plugin author will address these issues. Once they have, it will be a great plugin.

The plugin is great, a must when working with multi-language sites using multi-site.
Thank you.

The plugin perfectly does what it claims – adds images into posts/pages. But it doesn’t support sharing of featured images. I thought it won’t be a big problem but I was supprised that my WP theme is fully depended on featured images..

I would give full 5 stars if I could add an Network Shared Media image as featured image and select multiple Network Shared Media images to be added as a slide show.

Hi!
I love this plugin, it saves a lot of work and duplicate files. However, is it possible to choose an image via the ‘set featured image’ link?
Network shared media now only appears via ‘add media’
Thanks for your response!
