Hi, I’m hoping this plugin is still in development. Been a happy user for quite a few years now.
Microsoft has announced that Bing Maps is coming to an end. And Azure Maps is the way to go.
As the plugin uses Bing Maps, it means that the plugin will be useless once Bing Maps is phased out in June 2025.
Ref: Migrate from Bing Maps to Azure Maps overview – Microsoft Azure Maps | Microsoft Learn
Will this plugin be updated? Maybe feature the option to use Google Maps or other map sources?
I hope so, or if not, whom can point me to an alternative?
Hi,
I’ve just installed your plugin. It didn’t display any photos on the map. After switchting for firefox to safari I’ve discovered in the JS console an error for trying to get a thumbnail image. E.g. like this: https://overlandjournal.nl/wp-content/gallery/test2/thumbs/thumbs_england-london-bridge.jpg
This page give’s a 404.In nextgen the thumbail options are default, and I’ve selected the test photo in the gallery and re-created a thumbnail image but alas.
When configuring your plugin with [ thumbs=2], the pins, the map works as it should.
https://overlandjournal.nl/test/
I’ve added 2 maps to this URL; let me know if I can find somehting more out on where the failure comes from. Is this an update in nextgen gallery, or a setting over there? Or something in your plugin? Anyway, if you could kindly look into this that would be fantastic.

The latest Geo plugin and the old NextGen version 3.30 which worked very well with your plugin so far but now generates these errors:

Guten Tag
Yves

Hi
I installed NexGen Gallery and GEO2 Map for NexGen Gallery
It works so far.
Only on the map Doesn't tell me where the picture was taken.
As a shortcode I used [geo2 map=aerial geo2 exif=1 / 0 ]. If I also set ID=2, an error message "JSON response" appears. If I remove ID=2, the card works again.
My GOAL is this:
I have links to a gallery with pictures, many have GEO info to be displayed on the map.
So per page there is a gallery and on the right the corresponding map of the pictures.
How do I have to write the shortcode to make it work.
Thank you for your feedback

If I deactivate “Activate Route Mode” the map is shown without track and also without error messages.
On activating “Activate Route Mode“, route an error messages are shown again.
I only want to use it for showing the daily track I passed with my motorcyle.
Do I have to adjust any settings or names?
Thanks you very much for your help.

Is there a step-by-step guide on how to add a Bing Map to a site?
Maybe even in German?
I keep getting an error message when I paste a NexGen Gallery onto the page. No json answer.
—
Gibt es eine Schritt für Schritt Anleitung, wie ich eine Bing Map auf eine Seite einbaue?
Ev sogar in deutscher Sprache?
Ich bekomme immer eine Fehlermeldung, wenn ich eine NexGen Gallery auf die Seite einfüge. No json antwort.
Thanks alot.
]]>Question for the author. Is it possible to ask in the info-window menu to display the photo description, but without the photo title and gallery title? The photo description itself taken from the saved ALT parameter of the photo.
And when will there be a paid version because I would love to officially buy this great plug-in ?
]]>Hello
This is my fifth attempt to implement the plugin on my website. Every time it’s the same, clicking on a picture on the map only sometimes it’s displayed properly, usually some other random one from the gallery.
In galleries with only 10 – 15 images it works rather well, but larger galleries don’t want to work well at all.
I uploaded new photos to the new gallery, reinstalled the plugin from scratch, all photos have a gps tag, photo names sequential numbers, I tested most of the geo2 plugin settings, turned off the lite speed plugin, cleared the browser cache. Nothing helps.
If this plugin worked perfectly, I would buy it with every penny. Please help plugin author.
any ideas ?
The effect is still the same: https://krakowznieba.pl/_test/

Hello, great plugin so far! But I can’t see the route files on a map.
The files are here:
https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/gpxpalmelaandre.gpx
https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/palmelaandre.kml
https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/palmelajen.kml
I tried to create a page and insert the shortcode:
[geo2 xmlurl=https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/palmelajen.kml]
or without the https
[geo2 xmlurl=https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/palmelajen.kml]
or with a route id
[geo2 route=1 xmlurl=https://aguerrilha.pt/kml/cozinharute/palmela/palmelajen.kml]
but nothing…
Can anyone give a hand?
Hi,
I would like to know more about a premium feature of your plugin: is it possible to view multiple different galleries on the same map? (possibly assigning icons with different colors)
visiting your site (from the plugin administration area) is under maintenance and I don’t understand how to buy the premium version (and how much it costs)
]]>The settings page NextGEN gallery > Geo2 Maps looks all messed up as can be seen from the following screenshots:
https://nextcloud.wildi.name/s/9gd8JCCLwWcf7yB
This happens with all the settings pages on Geo2 2.0.4, NextGEN Gallery 3.17 and WP 5.8.2. The installation runs on PHP 7.4 as provided by my hosting service.
Thanks for providing this plugin in a fresh version! It looks very promising and I would really like to have it working as it seems to quite exactly suit my purposes.
However, any map comes up centered at my current browser location and no pictures are marked on it anywhere. The images have been uploaded via the NextGEN gallery uploader from my desktop and they do certainly contain GPS information in their EXIF data. They are taken with a recent smartphone and the imaging software Digikam shows the data. Though the NextGEN gallery overview does not show it in its metadata.
Is there anything that I can do in order to circumvent the problem? Do others experience the same?

Thumbnails, Route,
Hi, thank you so much for your work, it looks brilliant. Unfortunately I haven’t got it to work yet, having trouble to upload a gpx file into a NextGEN gallery.
I did use Enhanced Media Library to get WordPress to allow gpx upload: I made a new MIME type gpx, application/gpx+xml, and uploading gpx files into the ordinary WordPress media library works fine.
To add it to a NextGEN gallery, I go to ‘Add gallery/images’, pick the gallery and the file I need (either .gpx or zipped), press upload, and get a message ‘Upload failed. Image ppp3.gpx failed to upload: unzipping files failed.’ I get this both for .gpx and .zip files.
Is there something I’m doing wrong?
Hi,
When I use the following tag, no track is shown.
[geo2 route=1 xmlUrl=https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/sGPX_timestamp.gpx]
I also tried to add quotes before/after the URL, no luck.
However when I use the exact same URL in the settings page for Routes, it does show.
Wordpress 5.8
Clean setup with only Nextgen Gallery installed. Not even a theme.
Looking to replace WP GPX Maps with this plugin, due to PHP8 incompatibility on that plugin.
Am I missing something?
]]>I do not know why but I still have a problem, the pictures on the map display well but when you click the thumbnail opens in magnification the wrong photo. Maybe this is related to the fact that I changed the gallery sorting manually? I do not know how to solve this problem ?? I’ve tried everything and it’s still wrong
]]>Pawel,
for a future version I’d like to suggest the usage of OpenStreetMap as an additional map service provider.
Regards,

Hi Pawel,
may I suggest to implement an option to deactivate the “my location” button on the map either with a general switch in the administration area and/or via shortcode per map.
Sara
]]>Hi Pawel,
when moving over a thumbnail on any map the hand symbol only shows up when moving over the upper half of the thumbnail or slightly above the thumbnail. It seems as if the thumbnails and the clickable area are out of sync. It looks like the clickable area is shifted up by about 60% of the thumbnail size. This happens with different thumbnail sizes.
