This plugin is very useful, because it adds a page to the plugin menu. This page shows a list of plugins which have been removed from the www.ads-software.com plugin repository. Therefore, you can easily identify plugins which will probably not receive any updates anymore. For single-site installations, this plugin deserves five stars.
Unfortunately, in WordPress multisite, the page is shown in the site administration backends instead of the network administration backend. That makes it a bit inconvenient for network administrators to check which plugins have been removed from the plugin directory.
Moreover, the page in the site admin backend can be accessed by any user with the manage_options
capability. This includes site administrators who are allowed to adjust the settings of their site, but who are not allowed to install, update or delete plugins in the multisite network. In multisite, it would probably make sense to check for the install_plugins
capability instead.

Thanks for making this plugin.
It’s especially great when updating older sites that may have some abandoned plugins and is a huge time saver.

Once installed, it does not detect any plugins and tells me that no plugin are in official repository.

WP core team is working on implementing the features provided by this plugin. Until then, keeping this plugin is going to be a life-saver for me.
Btw, vote for this idea at https://www.ads-software.com/ideas/topic/alert-when-installed-plugins-have-been-removed-from-the-plugin-directory .

While this plugin works very well, I’ve found another which I prefer. Plugins Last Updated Column shows for each installed plugin:
-the date of the last plugin update by the author (which matches the date shown in the WordPress plugin repository);
-the date of the last plugin update applied on the site;
-“Not Available” when a plugin is removed from the repository, or for custom plugins.
So overall, Plugins Last Updated Column accomplishes the same purpose but also provides some extra details which are extremely useful to have.
The other advantage is that with Plugins Last Updated Column, this information is instant, instead of having to wait for No Longer in Directory to update on a monthly basis. If a plugin is removed due to security reasons, you’ll know right away with Plugins Last Updated Column (so long as you visit your Plugins screen), whereas you might not know for a whole month with No Longer in Directory.

Glad to add this during my recent audit. In the process of upgrading and this helps me refine the list of plugins I operate with at any given time.

Great Plugin, works well, thanks.
This should be available in WordPress Dashboard
Many other plugins are dying a slow death and should not even be available to be viewed.
