It looks like the plugin is abandoned. Moreover, I bought a Pro version but it doesn’t work and nobody replies via the support email. I can’t even access my license key because the password restore doesn’t work on their website.
DO NOT use this plugin!

There is no answer even on the premium version website. The plugin is abandoned, with legacy code and some bugs. Please, choose an alternative decision. Didn’t use this one!

There are a lot of bugs and strange or malfunctioning in the plugin. Looking at the plugin forum, there is no support for the plugin at all.
Maybe there is only support for the pro version, but so I don’t dare try it.

Bought subscription, did not work, asked support question, no answer in two weeks:(

Have been using this to connect our external application to WordPress Backend flawlessly.
Great customer support as well! Had an issue and the plugin author helped fix it promptly. Very impressed!

Even after buying the PRO version, no one has never answered my support ticket and emails. Sad that such a great plugin has no support, even not for paid users. ??

I stumbled on this plugin so I decided to add support for WordPress using Oauth2 Authorization Code.
Not all software comes with Oauth2 support out of the box or with a plugin. Thanks for making this happen.
I first tested it using Postman to make sure I get the desired results. It works like expected.
My goal was getting authentication using Oauth2 and to retrieving member’s avatar for a multiplayer game, texas hold’em precisely.
Luckily, the Authorization Code grant type is not a Pro version.
I also manage to get it working with the code which works like a charm.
The only minor thing I found is the token could contain additional info like userId so I can use it in one pass to call REST API to retrieve the member’s avatar.
I also could not find info on different values for the scope to use along. Basic and Profile scope seem to return the same info, since I was expecting that oauth/me could give me more extended info like avatar.
But, definitely worth checking as Authorization code is the most secure grant type to use. This is the beauty to have WordPress as Oauth Provider is to allow exiting members of a site to use their credentials to login to the game and have their avatar displayed in game. Thus, it exactly meets my needs.
Kudos to the teams!

This plugin doesn’t appear to do much and even having bought the pro version, we’re still having issues but no-one appears to be addressing support tickets.

This Oauth Server is absolutely outstanding and the support Justin gives is also excellent. It does exactly what it says on the tin – and that’s what we all want.
Yes I’ve run into a few niggles along the way – but they were all MY doing!
I am successfully using Grant Types:
Auth Code – to host an Alexa Skill
Client Credentials – for my own bespoke Rest API
Well done Justin, and I’m pleased to be able to support your work.
Brian.

Working well.

The “grant types” described in the documentation do not work with the free version, and the “auth/token” api does not return proper error codes (eg. fields do not match errors). After trying an hour or so, I managed to get a (bearer) token out, which in return still did not allow me to get to the secure parts of the wp rest api.
You only have one chance to make a first impression.
This first impression is one star.

Ability to lock down the WP API and build authenticated WP API services is important for my business right now. After much research on this topic in the last year I’m happy with the choice I made. At the time of this writing, it seems as though several frequently referenced OAuth plugins related to the WP API have been abandoned, and/or well out of date.
One criticism I make is the online documentation is a bit out of date, and skips over steps. Another: the ToS (if you read it before filling the checkbox) says — in a nutshell — you agree that you need to know how OAuth works ahead of time, and this support team is not going to handhold you through OAuth basics. Honestly I think this is fine — because I do know the basics. But it was a little off-putting and felt confrontational as a step leading up to a purchase. Getting back to the documentation, we could do with a few more examples. I’d recommend at least one example for each of the supported auth schemes. As well as updated instructions for Postman. For example, the Using Postman article currently online references a button that doesn’t exist anymore in newer versions of Postman. I knew what they meant, but someone else might not. So call me crazy, but perhaps if the documentation were up to date they wouldn’t need the hand-holding clause in the support ToS.
Overall though I’m giving this a top rating, it fills a huge gap in core and does it very well.
(This review is based on my experience with the pro version of this plugin, for which I purchased a developer license.)

We have used this plugin off and on for some time and the plugin has always worked fine. Noticed some warnings and errors in logs long ago, but nothing that directly affected how we used the plugin and all of those warnings have been fixed with later releases.
If we had to give criticism, our only constructive criticism would be that some of the documentation appears to be outdated (but only in how the plugin works with third party tools). That criticism is only indirectly related to the plugin.
Just know that when we need to expand our OAuth2 capabilities further, the pro version is already on the top of the list for purchasing.
Thanks for your work and a great plugin @justingreerbbi!

This plugin is completely non-functional. Spent hours trying everything and looking for solutions. It just doesn’t work.

You get support straight on their personal website via live chat. Probably feature that any wordpress plugin provider should have in order to effectively and instantly fix problems on it. And its monopolistic plugin, there is no other plugin which would provide this function. It surely helps you have your own api and integrate it into applications. Well 199 USD is a lot to be able to integrate your api securely into your mobile or desktop app. But if it buys off then its probably worth it.

Poor documentation for free version, link to setup doesn’t work and author clearly doesn’t care about this plugin as I tried to reach out several times with no response!!!!

Purchased pro version before header support was added for REST API so had no use for it, but since that time support has been added, and this review was updated to remove the 1 star

I’ve been using this plugin for ~1 year to support single sign on + integration of a few different web platforms, including WordPress and Ruby on Rails oauth clients. The OAuth server is easy to set up and works exactly as expected.
The only customization I had to make was extending the oauth/me endpoint, which was relatively simple to do and well documented. (https://wp-oauth.com/kb/overriding-default-me-method/). And if anything goes wrong, there is great support!

Even if it’s free and I haven’t yet paid for the license, it’s easy to use and powerful plugin, Thanks!!!

I had issues getting http auth headers passed through the FastCGI config on my host. Justin was responsive and helpful.
I am using the plugin on the main site of a WP multisite with s2 Member installed as well. No conflicts, no problems.

I was bummed out that there wasn’t more documentation for the password grant type, but everything works great and is more or less there between the docs and the examples.
