The plugin slows down site (admin area) when you choose a default avatar.
Causes high CPU and physical memory usage.
I wouldn’t recommend as it caused me pain.

At least on up to date untested version of WordPress & PHP. It doesn’t resize the original image but uses HTML to so, so you better start with a small image! In my case my avatar became a dot as it used html height/width to create a 1×1 image:
<img src="ht...com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/K....jpg" width="1" height="1" alt="user name" class="avatar avatar-32 wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-32 alignnone photo">

Just what the doctor ordered. something simple with a simple setup. All I need is a avatar plugin that just slips into the user settings and replaces the Gravatar requirement that depends on an outside avatar service. It actually has a compatibility with the Ultimate Member plugin. It can upload avatars directly using the browser instead of WordPress’s image uploader which gives everyone access to your WordPress image library.

This plugin is an example of a great developer with no respect for web designers work. The plugin icon is simply horrendous, unjustifiable.
Not happy in damaging our back-end design right on the main sidebar menu, you will find it on every time you have to edit a text… don’t know why the developer thinks we need to add the user image on every text.
Please developer, do it right, do it beautifully.

I was up and running with this plugin in a matter of seconds. This functionality should be in WP by default – NO ONE uses gravatars! ??

As so many of us, I was bitten by the change of direction in WP User Avatar. I re-installed the latest “good” version and just did not upgrade it for months. Today, I took the time to look around for a replacement and found this excellent fork. Works like a charm. Many, many thanks for providing this plugin.
If you want to replace your old WP User Avatar installation, please read the warning on the Installation tab. I followed the simple steps and all existing profile images have been kept! If possible by any means, please remove the old plugin via FTP/SSH – no need to have old code sitting around on your server. It may always contain security issues that might be exploitable even when the plugin is deactivated.

I added to woocomerce account edit page with this hook:
function woocommerce_edit_account_form_start() {
echo do_shortcode(‘[avatar_upload]’);
}
add_action( ‘woocommerce_before_edit_account_form’, ‘woocommerce_edit_account_form_start’ );
Worked like a charm ??

It helped me when I was confused about updating to Profile Press. Thank you.
I wish WordPress would stop using Gravatar in the first place.

Works as intended and very impressed with the quick response I got when submitting a little bug report and their willingness to fix it.

This plugin is an excellent replacement of WP User Avatar, and the best WordPress plugin for avatars to my knowledge.
Despite that, I feel the set of features is quite basic. It’s probably enough for most people’s needs, but I would love to have the ability to set up more than one avatar for guests, which can be attributed based on the gender selection of the email address, attributed randomly, or perhaps to some other aspect of the user’s account.
Would it be possible to add such a feature?

The plugin is epic, easy to setup and the support is quick and helpful!

No need to say anything. It’s the best user avatar plugin ever.

This plugin does, what WP User Avatar used to do: Allow user profile pictures without gravatar. Nothing more, nothing less.
Works as drop in replacement.
Nice

I’m an ex WP User Avatar (ProfilePress) and I was struggling in finding something similar without the jingles and bells, not only did One User Avatar deliver the simplicity of it’s functions, it also integrated seamlessly with my theme’s existing code that allows Members to upload their own Avatars from the front-end panel.
Thank you so much for this plugin!

WP USER AVATAR I mean “PROFILE PRESS” is a disgusting stab in the back. This is a life saver!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA. THANK YOU!

I have tried Simple Local Avatar and a few others; they dont work on my website. This newbie works perfectly.

Amended Review: It is a great plugin that works easy and seamless, I thought there was a conflict problem with it but it turned out to be another plugin causing the issue. A great plugin all around.

A forked version of the once excellent WP User Avatar, One User Avatar does the same simple job, and is still excellent. If you were a previous WP User Avatar (WPUA) user, and got highjacked into the ProfilePress bloatware plugin when that plugin changed owners, install One User Avatar (OUA), deactivate ProfilePress, and your site will just work the same way it used to with WPUA; all of the user profile avatar images will stay intact, and the interface will stay as you remembered it.
You don’t have to transfer anything, OUA will use the settings already in your database. Once you’ve installed OUA and disabled ProfilePress, you can safely delete ProfilePress and everything will work.
For former users of WP User Avatar who were switched to ProfilePress without being asked and are unhappy:
Thank you @onedesigns !

A great replacement to the old WP User Avatar that was unexpectedly replaced by a whole membership plugin. For those of us that want a simple avatar plugin that does just that, this is perfect. Many thanks!
