If you hover your mouse to the right of the + symbol it will work and duplicate… But since I was designing this website for a client I had to find a fix so they could click the actual + symbol.
I ended up fixing this issue by adding some CSS so now you can hover over the actual + symbol.
Here’s the fix.
add this to your functions.php. Minor CSS fixes it.

Same behaviour as other users here: the “+” sign just opens the widget. It doesn’t duplicate.

This plugin worked great, but now when I add a widget to a sidebar for the first time it gets added twice and when I click on the plus sign it just opens the widgets settings… :-/

Adds a + button to all your widgets. Press the + button and it creates a duplicate of that widget. Drag the duplicate to another area. Simple, effective. Thank you for creating this very valuable plugin!

Installed plugin. Clicked “+” icon on the widget I wanted to clone, and magically, a cloned widget with its data was created instantly to be dragged into a new location.

The ability added by this plugin to clone widgets is a very significant timesaver!
I gave it only four stars for now, because of two bugs which have already been reported:

used to work bu now the plus icon loads the settings.
Also when you add a widget it adds 2 straight away so auto cloning for some reason.

Having to manually duplicate widgets between multiple sidebars used to drive me mad. I don’t know if there’s a better way to do it, but this plugin worked perfectly and was so easy to use that even an idiot like me could do it. This should be built into WordPress.

This is a a must for everyone using Polylang for building multilingual site. You often need to create several widgets (same, but assigned per different language, with different translations).
That is a hell to do, if there are multiple configuration options to make.
I just tried it with “SiteOrigin Features” widget, which is loaded in page body using “amr shortcode any widget” and it works like charm.

I’ve upgraded to the newest version 3.8.1 and honestly, not sure when it stopped working (on which upgrade – prob 3.8.0) because I haven’t had to use it for a while, but it does not work now. You click on the + and all it does is open the widget. Does not clone like it did before. Any plans for updates?

I use this great plugin all the time with the “Custom Post Widget” plugin.
I’m gonna hold back one star however as you can’t auto-install it from with WordPress instead having to manually upload, unpack, activate. Once these issues are fixed I’ll gladly bump to 5.
