I use Child Theme Creator by Orbisius on every WP website.
It’s never failed with Divi, Kadence, Avada, and other themes.
My method:
1. Install the theme
2. Activate Child Theme Creator by Orbisius
3. Create child theme
4. Test theme
5. Deactivate* Child Theme Creator by Orbisius
6. (optional*) delete Child Theme Creator by Orbisius
* Keep the plugin installed and/or active if you know you will be changing/testing themes

I’ve tried only a couple of child theme creator plug-ins because I’m running on Local by Flywheel and the others wigged out. This one not only installed and ran, but gave me some super-nice editing options. Very impressive.

I use Themify themes and when I create a child theme with Orbisius, it’s mostly OK, but for some reason the mobile css file styles are not overriding the main css files so it messes some stuff up on smaller screens.
I checked the inspector and it’s pulling in the mobile css it’s just not overriding the main css for some reason.
I removed the functions.php file from the child theme folder and that fixed it, so I think it has something to do with how the scripts/styles are enqueued.

Previously when I’ve made child themes, they looked exactly like the parent. When I made my first with this one, all my homepage graphics and info were gone. Not difficult to replace though.
Then error messages started appearing that the parent was not installed. Activating the parent showed no problems though. Finally, the child theme disappeared altogether from Themes and there were five error messages that the child theme could not be completed because my parent theme was not fully installed and asking if I wanted to delete. You bet.
The creator of this plugin sounds like he has a lot of knowledge, but the implementation is horrible. He keeps asking, ‘what theme are you using?’ to deflect, and suggests that he’ll consider setting up a sandbox (???). An odd notion for a simple plug-in.
People suggest making your own plugin. I tried that but my theme’s CSS is unconventional and did not match well with the tutorials I found. I paid for my theme so they installed a child theme for me and I was also easily able to create a child theme with Child Theme Configurator. Word is that child themes are incredibly simple. They were for me too- until yesterday.

This plug-in has crashed and disrupted more sites than it’s worth. Some of them are now rendered unusable. There are other places to create easy child themes. I wish I could extract it from all the ones I current have using it.

These bozos and their plugin have disconfigured my entire site’s properties. every CSS attribute is now back to the original. I tried to remove the plugin and it completly reset all my configs for the site.
I’m on hour 4 trying to get my site back, no thanks to these dudes and their crappy pluging.
NOT WORTH IT!!

I used to recommend this plugin but now they have added intrusive ads when you activate the plugin and there is a useless settings page with one sentence of help text and then more ads. Shame to see a previously good plugin be exploited like this.

I started using this with WordPress 4.6 and worked my way through 4.8. Though I wasn’t happy with all the updates and improvements (?) made by WordPress over the year, ‘Orbisius Child Theme Creator’ was reliable and stable.
Easy creation of new pages, cut and paste another theme’s page or template into a newly created page, really, really easy and convenient. One can even edit the style sheets too. Very nice.
I haven’t gotten into the sandbox feature, and I should learn to use it, but my child themes were easy to create and to use. Throughout the year and all the updates of WordPress and various plugins,’Orbisius Child Theme Creator’ was stable, never broke and I never had an issue.
Great for newbies. Easy to Use. Very helpful.
Thank you for sharing this useful plugin with the public!

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS PLUG-IN ON A THEME YOU’VE ALREADY CUSTOMIZED
This plug-in destroys all customizations that you’ve made to the parent theme in your WordPress Admin site. It modifies entries in the WordPress SQL database so that your parent theme will be reset and your web site will look like it did when you first installed that theme–whether you apply the parent or child theme. In other words, you will lose all your content.
So don’t use this plug-in unless the parent theme is virgin or you don’t care about it’s content. I lost months of content in my parent theme when I ran this plug-in. While the plug-in doesn’t overwrite files in the parent’s directory, e.g. style.css, it does kill database entries that contain file pointers, text content, etc. If you didn’t make an SQL backup, you’re out of luck even when trying to salvage your parent with myPHPAdmin.
I recommend creating a child theme manually. There are many tutorials that describe this simple process in sufficient detail.

Easy creation of a child theme plus nice editing tools make this plugin well worth it.

One of my most liked plugins for the ease with which i can create a child theme and the efficiency it offers when i’m editing files. I have come to trust it and find myself hesitating to create child themes in any other way. This plugin works so why try the unknown?
One downside with this plugin is that it adds @import to the child theme whuch i delete always but other than that, its excellent. Thank you !

I created a child theme and suddenly my existing theme lost all its settings and customizations. Deactivating/deleting the child theme and deactivating the plugin didn’t bring them back. I had to restore from an old database. A very unexpected and unpleasant surprise.

Worked for creating the Child Theme, but the theme editor, when I used it to duplicate some files…my host flagged questionable site “injections”, and they shut down my site due to risk. ??
…so some of it may be a good idea/option on self-hosted, but beware if you are not self-hosted.

I have a MultiSite. I just wanted CSS changes for one site/theme. It only took moments for me to have a child theme created (network available) and CSS added.
Done! Fantastic! Thank you for your work!
I did not have to go through ANY learning curves.
In the future I can toy with child themes without having to deal with creating them – that is what has stopped me until now. Messing around with the back-end and damaging something? No thanks. I do that enough with plugins.
Cheers!
