After looking around a bit and seeing a handful of FOSS plugins along with some premium plugins I landed on this one to power a weather widget on one of my sites. I’m quite pleased with it overall in that I’ve put together a fairly simple widget using the built-in customizations (of which there a A LOT).
That said, let me offer a bit of feedback for future releases:
1. The ‘no bypass’ nomenclature makes for an odd UX. I wish it were changed to more conventional like ‘default’ or whatever would a more mainstream equivalent because the other two choices “shome on all weather” or “supress on all weather” doesn’t exactly help users understand what they’re bypassing or not bypassing.
2. The icon fonts render with a sizeable gap above them which makes it hard to vertically center templates like Card 1. I haven’t found a solution yet but I’m digging into it still.
3. It would be much easier to style if the templates used flexbox – at least the most simplified ones (Card 1, 2) don’t.
Other than that, great work. It’s a lovely plugin and I look forward to seeing how it progresses over time!

A few months ago I would have left a 5 star review for this plugin. However, for the past 2 months the API refuses to update the temperature anymore. I left it there thinking it might eventually get fixed but it hasn’t. The temperature here is not 75 degrees 24 hours a day.
I’ve cleared the cache, tried changing the timezone with override, and I’ve tried making a new “Weather” post. Contacted customer service and never got a response. Guess it’s time to switch to a service that works since you guys won’t help me resolve the problem.

Very nice and easy plugin to use, I do LOVE the functionality to add custom pics or videos in relationship to the weather conditions, it would be GREAT if, for each weather condition, the user could choose between two images (for the day and for the night) (I’m using picture of my city landscape, and it would be great to add night picture too) based on sunrise/sunrise time.

I recently came across the OWM Weather plugin and I must say it has completely revolutionized the way I display weather information on my WordPress site. This plugin offers a comprehensive set of features and customization options that make it stand out from other weather plugins available. I highly recommend OWM Weather.

Love it. Works very well, lite. Highly customizable once you understand how the settings work. And you will, his site has the best docs and examples I have ever seen. Amazing and for free.

Good install instructions. Got it up and running on the site quickly. At first I had layout issues, but then I realised I had to set the weather settings option to disable loading of bootstrap as it was fighting with an existing bootstrap-based theme and the bootstrap.css files were different.

The WordPress plugin OWM weather was a little bit confusing setting up the API key, but got it going and it works. Finally found a WordPress plugin for weather that uses visitors location. The plugin provides a variety of choices in layout and the sliders are especially useful. However, a visitor reported It displayed weather for Ottawa instead of Oshawa (Canada). For the most part, it’s accurate. So it’s not perfect but close!

The plug-in works like charm. The updated version (5.6.11) now even supports the custom field as city selection. Great work!

Could you please tell me if there is any way to add/use custom weather icons?

I’d love to use this, but it messes up the theme format and menus on any page it displays on.
I am using WP twenty-twenty so it’s not an obscure theme!

Tried a lot of weather plugins, all proved to be either unworkable or require a colossal amount of tweaking. OWM Weather turned out to be very flexible and handy, and although I had to do some digging, everything fell into place, and was soon fixed by the author in the latest release.

It is a plugin with many options and very configurable. I had a problem with the Spanish translations and the technical support solved it in record time with a plugin update.
Thanks uwe!

Very well done. I would like the author to re-examine the template system to allow an indeterminate amount of templates, and custom template directories.

Keeps on loading everytime. I’ve registered to get the API from the website but doesn’t work. doesn’t go beyond the loading…

You will definitely have to read about how to set this up.
Getting at free API is easy.
Once I read I needed to click NEW > Map I was in business. Finding the correct number to add was a bit confusing. I was working on a website in Turks and Caicos Islands (code is 3576916) and how I found that out was copying the number in the URL from the search on [Open Weather Map]
This works, and I went through about 4 other plugins before I found one that just worked. The benefit is, this also looks great without any edit. So now [My Site] is up and running and has the weather information right there.
Having the shortcode was great.
