Hello

I deleted many pages, yet all sidebars beloning to those pages stay.
And they’re called something like “pps-agenda_trashed” or “pps-evenementen_trashed” Because a lot of pages where deleted. I have like a very long list with the thrashed sidebars, can I get rid off them?

And I do hope you will answer this, because I have seen you are active online, but don’t reply to any of the questions here.
I really hope to hear from you.

Hello,

Since the latest update “4.5.1”, the sidebar is not working. When we go into the widget page, when we add an element to a sidebar, it get stuck on loading.

In the $1000 page the stickiness works. In 0 and 5000 it doesn’t.

I didn’t see any update notification to upgrade to 4.4 – could the old version be the issue?

After the update to 2.0.2 al the side bars are empty. The widgets i used before are deleted. I restored the previous version but the side bars are still empty. Help please! I used PPS for 8 different side bars!!!

Hello,

It’s a long time ago when this mod is updated. I use this mod since 2013 on an updated Worpress website.

Sadly this mod is (probably!) completely slowing down the widget erea. It is hard to add new widgets to the custom sidebars. Could you please look at this and/or update the mod or should I look for alternatives?

Per Page Sidebar – Not Working on Blog Post Page.

I can’t get this to work on my blog page and blog post articles. Any idea what might be causing this? I notice the developer had plans to “update” the plugin, but it appears nothing has been done for two years. Should I just move on and search for an alternative?

I’m using twentyeleven theme,and wanted a sidebar to appear on all of my pages..It looks like this is what I needed..

I followed the instructions from Todd Heitner’s post above to the hilt, but whilst the sidebar I have created is showing up in “widgets”, it’s not showing when I view the page.Have I missed something?Is there a shortcode I need to add or?

I want to change the sidebars only on certain posts and nowhere else. Well I noticed that my homepage is changing to show the sidebar associated with the most recent post. My category, tag and other pages all keep my default sidebar. But the homepage does not.

How do I force the homepage to always show the default sidebar and not change to show the sidebar of the newest post if it differs from the default one?

I have several posts where I want to use the same custom sidebar. I’ve set up the custom sidebar for one of them. Now I want to put it on the others.

As it is now, it seems I have to go to each page and re-create the exact same custom sidebar over and over. It would be a lot easier if there was a drop-down that not only asked which sidebar you want to replace, but which custom sidebar you want to replace it with.

In my case, I would only need two sidebars – my original one and my custom one. The original would go on most pages. The custom one would go on a few. Instead, it seems I have to have my original sidebar widget and then several copies of the exact same widget, one for each customized page, even though these customized page’s sidebars are all exactly the same.

Am I misunderstanding? Is there a way to do what I want? If not, can this feature be added? It would save a lot of seemingly wasted duplicate work.

I haven’t found out how to contact the author of this plugin (Brian) so I’m posting this here.

(A minor bug – only shows up when debugging is set to ‘true’ in wp-config.php):

If the user goes to a WordPress page that doesn’t exist, then this plugin throws an error, which, if debugging is turned on, will display ugly text at the top of the page like so:

“Trying to get property of non-object in … ” (for 3 lines)

In order to fix this, I just added this to line 210 in per-page-sidebars.php:
if ( !$hostpost ) {
return;
}

This way, if the object isn’t there it just returns before trying to set values, etc.
I know this isn’t really that big of a deal, but it’s a small detail that can help.

If I could have found Brian’s email I would have just emailed him directly. Hopefully he sees this.

Just installed, went to Settings and clicked on “Help”, got a page where all images within the help box were broken. Also, it’s not immediately obvious where one goes to create a new sidebar.

I’ve installed this plugin, followed the instructions and everything seems to work apart from the fact that no sidebar shows on the selected page.

The custom sidebar field shows up when editing pages, I can add Widgets in the Widget field, but nothing shows up on the page.

Any ideas?

Will you please add the foreseeable future, the replacement of more than one sidebar on the page? This feature seems to be crucial. It seems that at the present time your plugin only suitable for this function (custom-sidebar shows errors).

Hi,

This plugin was a life-saver for me! Using it with a HTML5 mp3 player to have a different player on different pages.

However, I found out that it doesn’t keep the data if I change theme, even coming back to a former theme used. I’m concerned of doing massive work using it, and realize everything is gone once I update WordPress or the theme in the future.

Any way to secure the retention of settings and data cross updates?

Hi there — I just tried the Per Page Sidebars plugin on a wordpress 3.3.1 site. Following the instructions, it mentioned

• Upload the tcc-pps directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
• Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
• Modify the display settings as needed on the Settings > Per Page Sidebar page.

That last step had me confused. I didn’t see anything in my Settings section that said “Per Page Sidebar.” Anybody else have this error?

I like your plugin. But, the current instructions in the Codex don’t correspond with the reality. I did find your revised instructions in another post, so I thought I’d place them here for others’ benefit:

1. Edit a page or create and save one. It must at least have a title.
2. In the Custom Sidebar section, check Activate a custom sidebar and select the sidebar to replace. [My note: I just used the default one, “Pages Column”.]
3. On the Appearance->Widgets screen, place the widgets on the newly created sidebar that matches your post.

As for the “Settings > Per Page Sidebar page” instruction, that does not view.

As a webmaster for CMS type sites, this sort of plug-in is invaluable. It provides far more layout options for the designer. (If it can do the same to posts, then you’ve got a fan for life!)

I’ll test it out on a few more pages. Then I’ll send you a “donation”, which no doubt you deserve for putting this together.

Seems like when using a per-page sidebar on a parent page, it also takes effect on all sub-pages. Can this behavior somehow be controlled so this can indeed be “inherited” or not…

I really like the the per-page-sidebars plugin. I was wondering if it is is possible to have the sidebar for a custom post type? For example I created a custom post type called ‘events’ and I want these events to have a unique sidebar rather than the global default sidebar that comes with the theme. Is there any code I could add to the ‘per-page-sidebars.php’ to activate this?

I need to have different sidebars on different pages on my site. I have downloaded the Per Page Sidebars plugin.

Here are the installation instructions:

1. Upload the tcc-pps directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
3. Modify the display settings as needed on the Settings > Per Page Sidebar page.

It is showing as “activated” in my plugins page, but the plugin has not been added to my Settings menu, or anywhere else on my dashboard that I can find.

I am creating a Twenty Ten child theme.

Am I missing something here? Any suggestions?

I’m using per-page-sidebars widget to display a different sidebar on the pages from the one next to the posts.

However, my “front-page” is a static page, and the “posts-page” is displayed via a “page” (parameters in Settings/Reading).

When I try applying per-page-sidebars to that page it’s not working and the default widget area is displayed…

So I have to apply per-page-sidebars to all my pages – which need all the same widgets – and make the default widget area matching my posts-page needs ??

Is there something special to do so that I can apply per-page-sidebars to the posts-page in my case ?
