]]>Permalink Editor v0.2.12
Hi
I used Permalink Editor to change blog url from default /pages/view/blog.html to /news (/pages/view/pagename.html is used for pages by default).
Blog page slug is ‘blog’, so paginated pages have /pages/view/blog.html/page/2/ in pagination links, not /news/page/2/
This breaks blog url structure. Can this be fixed please in plugin:
Add hook and change blog index pagination links to /news/page/2/
WordPress SEO plugin generates canonical tag as permalink+/page/2/
So for /pages/view/blog.html/page/2/ canonical tag is /news/page/2/, because permalink is /news, but it returns 404

My website uses this custom URL structure %pagename%.aspx
I am now using a theme/plugin for real estate listings. Now, besides pages, posts and cathegories, my website has “listings”. All my pages URL are showing up fine as %pagename%.aspx except for the property listings.
How can I add the “.aspx” to the listings too? Where do I need to add the %listing%.aspx ?
Thank you!

I rewrote some permalinks using this plugin but I found that google still shows some entries with the old URL..
In the sitemap.xml happens the same, If you open it you find that sitemap.xml is indexing the old url. I guess sitemap.xml is not able to know that a certain url has been modified with this plugin…
How did you solve this issue??
Could anyone help me please?

I’m not sure exactly what the author of that plugin means, but it would be really nice to have the two work together nicely. Both are pretty much essential for my web site, and I would imagine there would be others who would also appreciate being able to use both.

]]>I had selected this plugin over the Custom Permalinks plugin, but it turns out this one has a serious issue. When someone leaves a comment on a post with a modified permalink, this plugin redirects the visitor to a completely unrelated page instead of bringing them back to the post in which they left a comment.
Luckily, some readers informed me of this shortly after having installed the plugin, and I only had to go back and fix about a dozen posts.
I’ll be using the other plugin, even though there were things about this one that I preferred.

]]>Hi folks.
I got a problem. I want to create this page structure:
Idiom
– English (…/lang/en-us/index.php)
– Portuguese (…/lang/pt-br/index.php)
I use xlanguage, so when my site in English, all links are …/lang/en-us/xyz.php and in Portuguese are …/lang/pt-br/xyz.php
When using the Permalink Editor if I customize my “English” page link to …/lang/en-us/index.php, when it is in the Portuguese site (…/lang/en-us/xyz.php) and I mouseover the link, it doesn`t show the link I have customized as en-us and show as pt-br. So, it shows as …/lang/pt-br/index.php instead of as …/lang/en-us/index.php as I had customized. The same happens in the inversed way, I mean, when in the English site it shows English link instead of the Portuguese customized.
The customized way doesn’t seem to really be working as customized. IMHO it needs to be reviewed. ;0)

if you search for the phrase “Unable to parse URL” and “permalink editor”, you get a bunch of hits, including a blog post mentioning the Timthumb problem, not sure if it’s related..
Anyway, I’ve deleted the plugin.

]]>We are using the Permalink-Editor plugin successfully with WordPress 3.2.1. It works there as advertised: thanks to the plugin, our pages (not posts) are accessible using customised permalinks that all end in ‘.html’
However, after upgrading our WordPress installation to 3.3.1, we had to find out that the plugin’s functionality was lost entirely and our pages weren’t accessible any more, instead we got 404s.
As a consequence, we had to downgrade again.
Has anyone had success using the plugin with WordPress 3.3.1?
Or is there a new plugin version necessary to properly support the new WordPress version? And if so, are you already on it, Steve?

The Permalink Alias function does not seem to work.
Assume the following. I had a page – https://www.website.com/category/page1
I used the Customise button to change the Permalink to – https://www.website.com/page1 and the I entered category/page1 in the field under Permalink Alias. I updated and saved the page. But the 301 redirect is not working.
When I go to the old Permalink – https://www.website.com/category/page1 it displays fine instead of redirecting to the new Permalink – https://www.website.com/cpage1.
Now the new Permalink does work. It is just the Permalink Alias which is not working.

]]>Hello, i recently swithced to a cool theme for my website, after several years, that uses custom post… After digging for a while in the wordpress forums, i realized that there is not a real working way to take off the custom post slug from the url of my custom post, and append .html suffix..
So, i started to use permalink editor.. and that’s work, indeed..
The only problem i have:
The old post structure haves obviously a much higher pagerank and link popularity that new custom post structure..
For example : scores much better that (new custom post url).
So, what i would like to to, would be reverse the order of canonical permalink , pointing the custom post url to the old post system (that i had to rewrite manually for every portfolio post)… is that possible somehow?

]]>Hi,
First of all, thanks to Fubra for an amazing plugin – I was having huge issues with permalinks on a site that uses custom post types and has wordpress installed in it’s own folder instead of the root. Installing this plugin pretty much resolved all my problems instantly.
I’ve just got one recurring issue though. Pages that don’t exist in the root directory don’t redirect to the 404.php but display the index template instead.
To give you an example:
A working URL is https://katakis-recordings.com/artists/wintermute
where artists is the custom post type name and wintermute is the name of a custom post.
https://katakis-recordings.com/artists/foobar
redirects fine to the 404.php.
However,
https://katakis-recordings.com/foobar
doesn’t redirect to the 404.php but stays at that address and displays the index.php template. I think the plugin may be seeing ‘foobar’ as a category or tag name and displaying
https://katakis-recordings.com/foobar/index.php
but I’m not exactly sure. Removing the trailing slash from the URL by editing the plugin doesn’t change the result.
What’s interesting is that when the ‘foobar’ string starts with a number, the redirect to the 404.php works fine.
https://katakis-recordings.com/27foobar
goes to the 404.php.
As I said, this site is actually a folder of another site, and the root domain ‘katakis-recordings.com’ points to this folder, so I’m not sure if this is part of the issue or not. Also, I should mention I’m using a static home page.
I don’t actually use index.php on this site, because it’s customised for a specific purpose using custom post types and archive/category pages. So as a quick fix I’ve just copied the 404.php file and renamed it index.php. However as I intend to use this plugin on future sites it would be great to get some advice on how to resolve this issue.
Cheers,
Mel

]]>Hi. I am using the Duplicate Post plugin alongside Permalink Editor. Both plugins are great, except for the following problem.
When I duplicate a post, the Permalink Alias also gets duplicated. So for example, let’s say I have a post called post-1.html. When I duplicate this, I can change the custom permalink to post-2.html with no problem. But further down the page, I see this:
Permalink Alias
https://www.xxx.com/%5B ] –> /post-1.html
and there’s no way to edit the “post-1.html” part. So when I click update, this gets saved. Now when I click on a link for my new post post-2.html, it will redirect to post-1.html. There is a way I can remedy this, but it takes a couple of minutes for each post I duplicate. So I would rather have this problem fixed properly.
In Duplicate Post, there is a place where I can specify which meta fields not to duplicate, but I would need to know the meta field which refers to the Permalink Alias.
Does anyone know?
Thanks!
