Finally managed to delete this plugin by going to my host’s cpanel and deleting it from my file manager (as trying to delete it from my WordPress install gave a critical error message).
The reason?
I consider any rollback plugin as one that you can use, then delete it when you’ve done the rollback.
This plugin though does not allow that and needs to be installed and live to go back to an older version.
However, trying to delete it is where the fun starts:
On deactivating PlugVersions, ALL of the versions of plugins, and themes that have been rolled back now appear as NEW plugins that need to be removed and deleted.
These plugins also appear in WordFence – but when you see which plugins need updating, nothing is there – they just appear in your admin bar as plugins that need updating.
I needed to delete 21 versions of plugins and themes and as already mentioned, delete Plugversions from my hosting cpanel.
Probably the worst plugin that I’ve ever installed.
]]>Hi there, I am experiencing the following problem on all sites where PlugVersions is active.
All plugins are updated and therefore no updates highlighted in backend, but in the frontend topbar it reports that there are plugins to update and they are the ones that PlugVersions backsup.
How to fix it?
Thank you!
Noticing an issue when this plugin is active vs deactivated.
When it’s activated, some of my other plugins appear to be up to date. But when I deactivate PlugVersions, then several of my plugins show up as needing to be updated. (and, I’m able to update them). Not sure why this is happening. I had to set up a staging site in order to test this. But plusing such as Freesoul Deactivate Plugins showed it needed to be updated to v2.1.9 (from 2.1.8), Temporary Login Without Password showed it needed to be updated to v1.8.3 (from 1.8.2), WP Mail SMTP showed it needed to be updated to 3.11.0 (from 3.10.0), and WPvivid Backup Plugin showed it needed to be updated to 0.9.94 (from 0.9.93). When I deactivated PlugVersions, I saw these updates that were needed. But when I activated PlugVersions, the 4 plugins above, showed that they were already at their newest versions of 2.1.9, 1.8.3, 0.9.94 and 3.11.0. Not sure why this is happening. But if I deactivate PlugVersions, I see the plugins need to be updated. If I activate PlugVersions, then I see everything already updated. I’m not sure which is correct, since with PlugVersions deactivated, I AM able to update each of the plugins.
Can you help?
Gary
]]>I’ve downloaded this plugin, but in the WP dashboard plugin page it doesn’t show any link to previous revisions in any of the plugins, even knowing that some were updated, e.g. WooCommerce. I need to revert to version 7.7 and the actual is 8.2.
]]>This plugin, PlugVersions, cannot be deactivated without breaking my web site. When I deactivate the plugin, it deactivates all plugins that have been updated during the time while using PlugVersions. When trying to reactivate the deactivated plugins, a lot of fatal errors occour. It also leaves old versions in my server update notifications list.
Both of these problems supposedly were fixed in the versions noted below.
0.0.3
*Fixed: not possible to delete the plugin from the page of plugins
0.0.2
*Fixed: plugin old versions were considered in the update notifications
How do you SAFELY delete your plugin without destrying my website? All of my plugins and WordPress are current, using the most current versions to this date.
]]>I am unable to delete the plugin. It gets stuck on deleting (see image) and it doesn’t actually delete. Any advice?
]]>Hi Jose
Does it work to use both plugins simultaneously?
Best regards
Atipa
]]>Hi Jose! This is a very interesting plugin. How does this work exactly? Where do the links to the previous versions come from? Thanks!
