I have tested many WordPress extensions to create a member area. But none are as complete and as quick to configure as PMPRO. My only suspicion is whether the code will still be as effective when updating complementary plugins like BBPress and Budy Press.

If you use this plugin, expect a sh*tload of bugs and zero help from the support. It seems to be working with all of the workarounds I figured out on my own, but not like it’s supposed to work according to their documentation.

Sept 30, 2016 – it works like a charm. Thanks.

Activating the plugin brought my site down. It does not work. I hope a fix is developed soon. Not being able to use bbpress with pmpro is a problem.

Plugin fails to install (500 error).
I emailed PMP about this, and was told I needed bbPress installed and activated to use this plugin. Yeah, I know – and I do, which is why I need this plugin.
But sadly, that was all the support given.
I now have to switch membership plugins, as I need bbPress protection. Considering all the issues reported with this add-on, it’s disappointing to see they’re not addressed and the main plugin still claims bbPress support.

After updating this plugin, it broke my site!! All pages show up blank white.
I’ve recently moved my site from one webhost to the other. Not sure if that’s what did it. All other plugins work fine. After the move I simply updated it and my site broke.
I was updating this plugin from 1.2 to 1.3.
*CAUTION!!*
Update: I’ve also noticed that after deleting this plugin, my site runs MUCH FASTER.
USE THIS PLUGIN WITH CAUTION!!!!!! : ( ?? :(:(:(

I have Paid Memberships Pro, love it. I installed the bbpress add on and set up a couple of forums. The problem is only the admin can see the posts. As a user who should have access I can see the list of forum topics in the proper forum but when I click the topic I only see a place to reply. I read on a forum somewhere that I should deactivate Paid Memberships Pro and then remove and reinstall it but I have member accounts on the network who have their own sites going and I don’t want to mess anyone else up. Have any suggestions?

First post of every topic is missing when this plugin is active.

This plugin would be good but the “Too many redirects” made me give 1 star to this.
Activating it saves time to know and apply the shortcodes for the bbPress forums that you want to lock but it result in the error mentioned before.

It’s a great plugin that works as advertised, but it’s lacking one key functionality:
Moderators and Keymasters (ie. the staff of the site’s forums) need to be able to access these forums without needing to give them a membership that grants them such access.
Other than that, it’s a great plugin!

The plugin works as expected. It would be great if there was an option for selecting membership levels that can access the bbpress.
I’m currently using this in [ link redacted, please do not post links in the reviews section ]

I’m the developer of this plugin along with Scott Sousa and Jessica Oros. So of course I think it is excellent. Let us know how we can improve it.
Please note that as of February 3rd, 2016, all of the 1 star reviews here refer to bugs that were quickly fixed and no longer affecting users of the latest version.
