J’adore cette fonctionnalité de WP, pourquoi s’en passer si on partage des liens sur son site!?!?

If you don’t have the scriptlet bookmarked already this plugin is WORTHLESS because there is literally NO PLACE to get the code for the bookmark ANYWHERE.

I think this is one of the perfect plugins to keep the blogs alive and helping to make them more a personal bitacora. Thanks!

I installed it, wrote a post, tried to save, my Safari browser hang, consumed more than 4GB of memory and finally crashed with my post gone of course.

Forgot about Press This. Never used it in the past. But now I think I’ll be addicted.

The only suggestion I’d make is to add a few options, like whether to embed the link as the text of the title or as the actual url. The latter is handy for making printouts usable by not concealing the url.
In other words:
<a href="https://blah">title of blah</a> vs
<a href="https://blah">https://blah</a>

I tried out this plugin after being reminded about this feature of WordPress. I searched through core and found out its now a plugin. Tried it out, and it worked exactly like I expected!
A problem is that, we like this new version of the post edit screen so much we want to come back and edit posts from this screen too… but you can’t.
??
Maybe now that its a plugin you guys can give us a way to add an “edit in press this” button in the wp-admin bar, or on the posts screen?

I had to downgrade to WP 4.8 initially to restore the functionality of the Bookmarklet. As everyone can see luckily the Bookmarklet was added to the 1.1 plugin version after even MM supported that:
https://github.com/WordPress/press-this/issues/15
I hope the Bookmarklet can be improved further for example to recognize line breaks in the selected text.

Version 1.1.1 has brought back all of the functions I used when this was in core. Thank you for the rapid updates over the past weeks bringing it back to life!

I was able to “press this” from bookmark. now the function is replaced with this stupid plugin. First, you need to install two plugins “press this” and “press this new post” to use the function. Second, when you click “press this” from “NEW” menu, it only show a blank window, there is no title, no pictures, no text caught. Then you have to copy the link into it and click scan. OK, you get media in the link; but still, title, text, source, none has been caught. Third, you have to copy title, click media wanted to add, copy text, and copy source link into the new post. Fourth: what do I use these two plugins for? nothing. just junk function. You can simply click “new post”, and copy all the items from the source link into the new post.
Junk junk junk!

The functionality lost with WP 4.9 and the version of Press This, that came with it, was quite difficult to bear. Thanks for re-establishing the old functionality that quickly.

The old press this was 10X superior, this new version is horrible, it sucks to put it plainly. It was one of the most important functions for me and this “new” version is almost useless. Very, very disappointing.

Simplicity was eliminated. Now you are better off doing 2 steps of copy and paste (Text & and Link) than four clicks with this tool.
You had to go and fix what was not broken…till it was.

I installed the new Press This plugin. Not impressed.
You now need to manually copy the web address of an article you want to reblog, and scan it… 2 extra steps. Doesn’t exactly save time.
What appears in quotes via Press This may come from the post excerpt. I’m not sure. But what does appear may or may not make sense, regarding the reason you’re sharing the post — so, you may not necessarily want to quote what Press This gives you.
Once you scan an article, you may still easily insert images into your reblog post. But I don’t recommend you do that, as you need to be careful about media permissions. (Reblogging does not protect you from committing the crime of unlawful use of intellectual property.)
So, for me, the new Press This is not helpful.
I guess the changes are intended to cut down on phishing. In addition, although I have not seen it stated, Press This changes will certainly curb bloggers who overuse and misuse reblogging.

Update: With the version 1.1.1 update, the bookmarklet now works. I’ve tested it in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, and it seems to work just fine now.
I use the “Press This” functionality for most of my blog posts.
When I upgraded my blog to 4.9 I was shocked that the bookmarklet no longer worked.
This morning I tried to use the “Press This” bookmark I had stored in my bookmarks bar and it kept bringing me to my Admin page, which was not at all what I wanted.
I was able to find a workaround through searching in the support forum, that had me create a bookmarklet and then update a PHP file. Thank you @robbyslaughter!
I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years and haven’t had to dig into PHP. This would really give newbies a sour taste of WordPress. WordPress is supposed to be easy to use, but IMO, editing PHP is quite daunting and definitely not for newbies.

I wanted a long ago the old “Press This” bookmarklet as a plugin, mostly to have the ability to customize it more easily. Anyway, even as it is, this plugin works the same as the old bookmarklet, so a big thanks for the author(-s)!
I don’t examined the plugin code yet, but I have a big hope that it is/will be customizable one.

This is an all too common occurrence in today’s IT world. Somewhat esoteric functions are removed because they are depreciated with no explanation whatsoever. I started using press this because Evernote messed up their implementation of multiple account usage because they depreciate that function. Lately, it becomes a battle constantly just trying to maintain previous software functions. Fix this so it works like the old set up. Instead of the crap was created in this version. bottom line there has to be more respect for the people using the software and on top of that there needs to be a general concern of higher quality testing for bugs, Today’s agile development methods create beta software that never leaves beta.

The stupidest idea ever to remove the bokmarklet.

For the moment, the plugin is not so simple as the old “press this” function. I lost many time to paste URL in the new windows.
Help us, please just give me the old functionality !
MAJ for V1.1
It’s done, this plugin is like the old function. Thanks for this work. I’m in the 0.2% users and it’s very important for me ??

The plugin has lost all the best and most useful features of the original bookmarklet. The workflow it seems to require is not as automatic, intuitive or useful as the original. I actually have rolled back to WordPress 4.8 because my normal workflow depends on the older Press This. The new plugin is too clumsy, does not grab even the site title of the page I am trying to save nor does it automatically create the link to the site. I really don’t understand how this new plugin is being represented as an adequate replacement for the original and very useful Press This

Update:Working well again. Thanks to those that made this a quick recovery.
Now that it’s on its own, can we work to make it even better?

Can we make this bookmarklet back to its original, usable form?
This replacement is just above useless.
Thank you.
