Hi,
I have just installed ths plugin. I have a lot of media already, and I have just protected one file as a test. This file now has the URL: https://www.lmeha.com/download/file/1557/
The new link is protected, thank you.
However Google previously shown a different Link, the link that is written above (Link to the page you need help with).
Will the previous Google link now stop being indexed? Or will I always have a risk with media that google or other search engines will have picked up?
My site is https://www.lmeha.com
Thanks!
Mike Cordy
]]>Hi, thanks for your wonderful plugin!
I’d like to if there would be a way to send a protected uploaded file as an attachement by email ?
Will it be possible to attach it to a mail even if it’s protected?
In this case, the protected files are uploaded with the plugin, so they won’t be indexed by Google or directly readable by non-logged users, but I need to send them by email to non-logged users.
Thanks in advance for your help
Fred
Hello !
Thanks for your great plugin.
I have just install it and it works fine, but the subscriber users can not see the pictures I have protected. The other users can see them.
Is it an issue or is it wanted ?
Thanks for your help.

]]>Hi,
First thanks for your work on this plugin.
When i add a protected link (ie : https://example.com/download/file/12) WordPress give an error on page saving (Update failed because of an invalid AJAX respons).
Do you have any idea where this error come from ?
If i delete link, save works without error.
]]>Hi. If I understand this plugin correctly you are making sure that the person is logged in to view protected images via PHP.
My situation is that I need everything protected. Even the images I am designing with. Like header images.
How much will this slow down my site do you think if I have to run design assets through your plugin?
]]>I could not activate it in WordPress(5.7.2).

We are using your plugin on our website and since the last WordPress update, we have a major problem. The problem disappears as soon as we deactivate your plugin.
We are using protected PDF links within our posts. Whenever we try to save a post which has protected links in it, saving takes like forever. Also, while saving, it downloads the first protected PDF file automatically, even though we do not click any link.
]]>Hey,
if you protect a file from the media library, it will be moved to a new location and the old link will not work anymore.
Is there a possibility to keep the previous links working, without manual replacing all the links in all posts?
Thank you!
]]>Hey,
it seems not to be possible to protect the existing media files. Are there any plans for that? At the moment you need to reupload all files via the “protected upload form”?
Thank you!

Hello,
I have installed your plugin on my site to protect internal resources, which can only be downloaded by employees. All the resources are easily downloadable except the pdf.
Every time I want to download a pdf I get a page with the error “The file does not exist.” And this error concerns the hundred of pdf I uploaded via your module.
Would you have any idea where the problem could come from?
My configuration:`
WP 5.7 + PHP 5.6
I have a locked (protected) PDF file. If you are not logged in, then clicking the link (https://mydomain.com/download/file/7629/) forces you to log in. Once you are logged in, then you can click the file to open it, but all it does is download to my computer, it doesn’t open in a new tab, like the normal, unprotected WordPress URL would. This is in Chrome. Firefox gives you the option to open it in your browser or download it, but Chrome has no such option. Is there any way I can get the protected URL to open in a new tab instead of immediately downloading? Thanks for any help.
]]>I have links like …/private/thum/… on my page, i found a filter in the support documents but dont know how and where to apply this one
]]>Hi,
First : great plugin.
Second : I have a problem. I use PWU with ACF Pro. I have a Custom Post Type called Document which contain a upload custom field created with ACF (that returns array of the uploaded file). In my functions.php file, I added your acf/upload_prefilter code. For displaying the link of the uploaded file, I created a shortcode that gets the data from the array (using get_field function from ACF) and then grab the URL to display it.
It worked fine a while but now, for an unknown reason, it doesn’t work :
In the frontend, the link is something like https://www.domainname.com/private/thumbs/filename.ext/ and I get a failed upload or an invalid compressed file (depends on the nature of the file).
Any idea ?
Best Regards,
Cedric
Hi Dev,
Just wanted to check whether this plugin can be used with JWT authentication or not.
If I send jwt auth token for downloading the image file will I be able to download the protected file?
]]>I’d like to use your plugin but apparently the only way to protect files is by uploading them via the plugin. Hi, I note that you were planning to introduce protection by role for release in June 2020. Is that still being developed?
Many thanks

I’m testing out this plugin, got it working with ACF. Seems to work great.
However, I can’t find the protect/unprotect links that the plugin info refers to.
I see PWPF_medialib_view_link
in the code, but I don’t see where those links actually print.
I see that they’re supposed to be added to media_row_actions
, but nothing changes on the output of that. Or anywhere that images/details are printed in the admin.
Hi there! Compliments for your plugin!
I’m using it on a website currently under development. In some pages there are up to 200 linked files, and using the plugin Query monitor I can see a duplicate query for each link. Is this normal?
Trying to reduce the server load I stored all file names and protected links in transient, but the duplicate queries still remain.
If it can be of any help, I’m uploading the files via an ACF file field (in a repeater) with the filter acf/upload_prefilter/name=field_name to protect the links.
Thanks in advance for any help!
]]>Hi,
First of all, thank you for your plugin. This is what I was looking for a long time ago, something simple.
Well, after installed the plugin and tried a page with a link to a PDF sample protected file, everything worked just fine.
So, when I tried use an image in that post, opening in a new window or private window, to testing, I’m getting this error.

]]>Hi Stephan
We have an own function, where we check if a user is allowed to download the file or not. Is there a file we can use, to hook in when a user tries to download a file?
Then in the filter we could do our stuff and return true/false depending if the user has access.
Thanks

Hello
We just installed the plugin and have to small issues:
1. The provided protected URL contains the directory, where WP is installed and does not point to the root. So we have https://domain.com/wp/download/file/2374/ instead of https://domain.com/download/file/2374/ I edited then line 132 in pwpf-hooks.php and changed site_url() to home_url(). This return the correct working path.
2. When I open the protected file in the media library, there is no preview image returned and when I open the image or file directly in the browser I get a 500 Error.
Any idea, why this happens?
Thanks
Aldo
