The Publish to Apple News plugin does a decent job allowing WordPress users to easily distribute their content to Apple News. It provides an automated way to format and submit WordPress posts to the Apple News platform with just a few clicks. For bloggers looking to expand their reach, this plugin offers a seamless way to access Apple’s robust news reader audience.

I’m unable to select multiple post types. Only one post type at a time.

I can get some posts to publish automatically, but not all of them, which is frustrating.

I have used this plugin and asked for support of my one question I waited for 5 days for the response from the author but no response I got.

Looks great but has severals problemes with special characters. Content just break with accent, display “à” as ? …
Seems to support only english, and not latin languages.
Can the author update that? ??
And, once article are published, seems impossible to update them …

This plugin insanely instructs WP to store *15* additional image sizes for every image you upload, and the majority of them are huge. Now, WP doesn’t upscale, so the huge ones will only get created if you’re uploading images larger than this already, but: this is completely and utterly stupid, to have this many, this close in size. And no, it’s not relevant if Apple’s own stupid guidelines recommend this many – be sensible! The image sizes it creates (taken from a var_dump() of the WP var which holds them):
[“apple_news_ca_landscape_12_9”]=>int(1832)int(1374)
[“apple_news_ca_landscape_9_7”]=>int(1376)int(1032)
[“apple_news_ca_landscape_5_5”]=>int(1044)int(783)
[“apple_news_ca_landscape_4_7”]=>int(632)int(474)
[“apple_news_ca_landscape_4_0”]=>int(536)int(402)
[“apple_news_ca_portrait_12_9”]=>int(1122)int(1496)
[“apple_news_ca_portrait_9_7”]=>int(840)int(1120)
[“apple_news_ca_portrait_5_5”]=>int(687)int(916)
[“apple_news_ca_portrait_4_7”]=>int(414)int(552)
[“apple_news_ca_portrait_4_0”]=>int(354)int(472)
[“apple_news_ca_square_12_9”]=>int(1472)int(1472)
[“apple_news_ca_square_9_7”]=>int(1104)int(1104)
[“apple_news_ca_square_5_5”]=>int(912)int(912)
[“apple_news_ca_square_4_7”]=>int(550)int(550)
[“apple_news_ca_square_4_0”]=>int(470)int(470)
This is just nuts. You could reduce this from 15 to just 6 with negligible impact. Just have two, maybe three at a push, sizes per layout instead of 5. Utterly bonkers.

Such an amazing plugin! Very easy to get your blog into Apple News using this plugin.
Seems to be a great development team, I had trouble using the Themes, and they replied to my comment and fixed the issue in an update.
Other Recent updates have greatly improved the interface in WordPress too, so Publish to Apple News seems to be moving in inspiring directions!
Publish to Apple News is a must have for any News site!

Love the plugin, but I have clicked “delete” under a post and it has told me that it has removed it from Apple News. It is not showing up in my articles on AN, but in the list of all my articles it is still showing as published and will not let me publish the article.

Hey! Great plugin, so thanks! I am having an issue with publishing though: about half the posts publish without a hitch, but the other half just never do. Any idea how to diagnose the cause of this?
Thank you,
Mike

This is an excellent plugin. I’ve been using Apple News Publisher, which is fairly limited. I installed this plugin and entered the API codes provided by Apple News, and I was able to start simultaneously publishing from WordPress within minutes. It provides several design options (under Settings > Apple News) you don’t get with the Apple News Publisher, such as font choices and background colors… I particularly like the initial dropcap.
If you publish your content into categories, I recommend setting it to NOT publish new articles automatically. Then once you’ve published a story in WordPress, go to the Apple News area of your dashboard and publish each article to Apple News manually… here it lets you select your categories and also include an optional pull-quote. I don’t know why the WordPress categories don’t synch to Apple News categories automatically (though I believe they have this planned for a future update).
The developers seem really active and engaged in the support forum so I suspect this plugin is going to continue to improve and grow.

Installed and had working for a week or so, so left it to it, believing all my articles are being published to apple news.
3 months later realised nothing has been published. set everything to publish and get a publish message. reload page and all ‘not published’
I’m pretty sure this is the API rather than the plugin, or maybe a combination of both.
shame.

I wanted this plugin to work but I cannot get anything approved by Apple.

This plugin is a great idea and helps immensely those of us who don’t know how to code or the new Apple News Format.
Sure there are some bugs, but that’s going to happen in any plugin, especially one connecting two different publishing platforms. They’ll get fixed.
For the most part, minus a sync issue for post updates, the plugin has worked flawlessly.

I am a brand new blogger with near-zero computer knowledge and I was able to install this plug-in and publish previous articles to Apple News within 5 minutes. Seriously, my articles are already live! I did apply as a publisher with Apple News last week and had 1 article already approved that I wrote directly on their own site, so make sure you do that first to expedite the process!!!

The developer for this is actively involved in improving the plugin. Is it a comprehensive tool that can meet every possible need? No. But it does a great job of getting your content into Apple News in an intelligent way.
As a developer, it took about two hours to get the whole integration completed, including all the setup on the Apple side (contracts, settings, etc). There are a number of hooks you can use to adjust the layout to suit your needs.
Thank you to Brandon for creating the software. It is a great service to all of us who like to be early adopters and have a little agile, first-mover advantage!

I’ve spent more than enough time trying to get this plugin to work. I’m just going to publish through the Apple News channel. This plugin sucks!

Works as advertised, if you get this error :
“There has been an error with the API. Please make sure your API settings are correct and try again: The attachment <filename>.jpg could not be included in the request because it was empty.” <filename> was inserted to replace actual name
Then update your php.ini if your host allows you to with the following directive: (This is a minor security exposure)
allow_url_fopen = on
Thanks to Bradford Campeau-Laurion for helping us on this!

As of version 1.0.7 most of the minor issues have been resolved and the plugin works as you’d expect it to, seamlessly publishing your articles on Apple News.
