I’m looking for a very light-weight solution to incorporating social sharing buttons on my website, and I don’t care about displaying share counts. QuickShare looks really interesting, except for the fact that the plugin has not been updated for many years. All the files (code, icons etc.) are dated 9 December 2013.
I was wondering if the developer, Nick Halsey @celloexpressions , could comment on the compatibility with the latest WordPress version (currently 5.3.2) and PHP version 7.3 (or 7.4)? Do you plan on updating the plugin in the near future, or is it officially abandoned? Your feedback would be of great help.
]]>hallo,
I use quickshare for my site since 2015
it always worked well but today it does not share the images of the site!
Does anyone know why?
Hi,
First, I want to congratulate you for this great plugin.
It works well and provide great features.
I hope we will fixe the probleme I encounter, so I can keep to use this plugin.
I instaled this plugin to my blog and start to add to my photo posts, but as you can see here: https://www.toucan.photo, it has an artefact over the icons.
It looks like a “bulleted list” but I would like to remove the “bullets” because not very aesthetic.
Thank you a lot
]]>Hello, the quckshare links are only working on some of my pages and not others. I checked… I do not have any page ID#’s in the box on the Quickshare config tab that would prevent them from showing.
Can you look at this page? https://ccwellness.wpengine.com/why-choose-our-substance-abuse-counseling/
and this page?
https://ccwellness.wpengine.com/substance-abuse-interventions/
There are several pages where the Quickshare links display and several where they don’t. Please help. Thanks so much!
]]>I had to replace all occurences of ‘+<+’ with ‘+-+’ in quickshare.php to get this plugin to work properly. The < between title and source will offcourse break any link. I don’t know why this hasn’t been reported before.
Appart from that it’s a nice looking plugin.
]]>Right now the Quickshare options are shown after the Related posts plugin output and that makes it not usefull.
Is there a way to make Quickshare to display right after the end of the post ?
I see other social share plugins have a priority on this.
Thanks
]]>Hi Nick, I’ve been using your QuickShare plugin for years. I’ve been so very happy with it. I saw somewhere in a review or something that Quickshare is lightweight compared to other sharing plugins and it really is. So I hope that you’re still supporting this plugin… but I see that you haven’t responded to support questions in about 6 months. I hope all is well. I wrote to you on your website but didn’t hear back. So… I’m trying to reach you here re: a conflict with Yoast SEO. I’m thinking that the conflict lies with Yoast, not with Quickshare… based on the number of support requests on www.ads-software.com where people are saying that the last several updates to Yoast have caused them problem. But I thought I’d still write to you and see if you can help with this issue…
On the sites where I’ve been using Yoast SEO and Quickshare for a while… when I update to the latest version of each site, there’s no conflict. But I just tried adding the latest version of Yoast SEO to a new site — along with Quickshare — and the only way that I can get the Quickshare bar to display at the bottom of my posts is if I disable Yoast SEO.
Can you please help? Thanks in advance.
]]>Hi, this seems to be the plugin I am looking for. Can anybody help me with the custom <?php do_quickshare_output( $url, $title, $source, $description, $imgurl ); ?>
In which format shall I add the url and the description? I just tried with <?php do_quickshare_output( $https://www-mysite.com… etcetc and it produced a blank page. I am no developer, have only limited php knowledge. Thanks!
]]>Hi Nick, can you tell me what size I should make my fallback image? Do you have a specific size for it? Or even just a general size?
]]>Hi
The sharing bar is display twice on all posts
I have not added <?php do_quickshare_output(); ?>
Thanks
]]>Other than this one bug, I love quickshare!
I can’t figure out what script is causing the problem.
In the backend, when I’m configuring quickshare, everything’s perfect. However, whenever it displays on the front end, the large pinterest button get’s replaced with the small generic “Pin It” button (the gray one with the red P).
Happens on all my pages. Live example here: https://www.charmcat.net/what-wedding-invitations-cost/
]]>I had to delete all of my plugins due to another issue with my site. Since reloading QuickShare I can’t get it to display. Also, after the delete a few weeks ago and setting up the new one it never asked me for email info so it knows who’s being emailed…I thought I was asked for this info when I set it up the first time.
Quickshare should be located at the top of the right sidebar. https://www.canoe-camping.com.
Thx
]]>Hi there,
Thank you for a great plugin. I love that it can very easily integrate into one’s site design. Great work there.
Just one query though. My site is set up in a blog format. Once activated, quickshare social icons are at the bottom of each post, which is quite lovely really. But I would like it to be hidden from my front page, which shows the latest post in a descending order. How can I make it to ONLY appear at the bottom of EACH post page but not the front page?
Your help would be a great help, really.
Cheers,
Nick
]]>Quickshare works in Firefox and Chrome just fine – but the twitter doesn’t seem to be working in IE – ideas on how to fix this? THANKS!
]]>Hi! I’m really glad to find such a plugin with so many possibilities. My knowledge is limited and I wonder how much is that limiting my hypothesis here. Maybe you can help?
– Why does the sharing buttons only show automatically in some contents of the home page? How can I make it show in some of the other contents?
– Can I have different sizes on different locations? I tried to use the Responsive Design feature to see if it would decrease the size of the buttons in some thumbnails and maybe even make them disappear in others; The size of the buttons are pretty cool as big when inside a post, but they need to be small when under a thumbnail of the main page. Is it possible to customize it differently in different locations/settings?
Label only shows on one type of content? How can I make it show in all media? (Display On: Media Attachments doesn’t seem to put it in all media along the website)
I really hope that what I need to learn in order to master this tool will allow me to use it in this website. No other plugin or combination that I found could add the “Label” plus “Put it anywhere” features together. A “fade in” on top of the media itself is something I was looking for also, but I guess I’m asking a lot already ??
Thanks for your great work!
I hope you can take me by hand on this. Coding is not an area where I ventured before :/

Had to add — to the “Share” Label in order to uncover the beginning of the text that I’ve set as the Label.
]]>Hello,
I love QuickShare; I think it’s a great, fast, easy-to-use plugin. Thank you for creating it!
I’m using QuickShare to provide sharing options below all of my blog posts. Reading the QuickShare FAQ, when a site visitor clicks on one of the social share buttons that tries to include an image (such as Pinterest, Facebook, and Google+), QuickShare will automatically grab an image in this order:
(1)First it looks for a featured image
(2)Then it grabs the first attached image
(3)Then it looks for a raw image tag
(4)Finally it falls back to a site-wide default image that I can set
I have already set the default image within the plugin settings (#4 in the list above) to my desired image, but QuickShare keeps pulling a different image, which happens to be my WP user avatar. I’ve already tried changing my avatar to the preferred image, but that didn’t fix the issue. Because I’m not using featured images for any of my posts, QuickShare must be pulling the incorrect pic as (#2) the first attached image or (#3) a raw image tag.
I’m a WP novice so I’m wondering, how do I change the first attached image and a raw image tag for blog posts so the correct image is used by QuickShare? I’m confused why the incorrect image is being used when I have no images visible with my posts, so I assumed the default image I assigned would be used.
I’d like the preferred image to be used with already posted blog posts as well as automatically applied to all future posts. Is there a way to to do this?
If I change the first attached image or a raw image tag for blog posts, will that affect any other aspects of my site?
Thanks for the help and for making such a great plugin!
Scott
Hello.
Selecting Pinterest for an articles (with image), i see a modal popup, the loading animation, the Close X, and nothing else.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
]]>Is there any way to add a copy link link/button to this? So that instead of routing to email or other social media they have the direct option of copying (and/or pasting) the link? Thanks!
]]>Hi,
The share links show up on the Posts page in the backend. Maybe there could be an option check-box to exclude that.
I made a temporary fix by adding ‘is_admin()’ to the tests in the ‘cxnh_quickshare_show_output()’ function.
...
if ( is_feed() )
$output = false;
elseif ( is_admin() )
$output = false;
elseif ( $quickshare_in_excerpt )
$output = false;
...
But it might be better to have it as an option.
Thanks for a very good plugin.

Thanks!

I cant figure out how to make quick share work with categories…does it work that way?
If not…please implement with future releases

]]>This plugin doesn’t work for me. My blog is https://simplu.mixnet.ro. I even inserted the specific php code in page.php, with no effect. As far as I can see, my theme uses the_content.
]]>Hi there,
I just downloaded your quick share plugin and I really like it. Although, there seem to be bullets over the icons and I don’t know how to remove. Can you please help?
Also, is there any way to remove the “eye looking icon” that is located next to the Facebook icon?
My website is: https://www.findthethyme.com
Any help is appreciated…thanks!

Hi there,
I hope you can help and have a look at my site e.g. this post. Unfortunately the genericons or icons are showing up vertically insteady of horizontally and they have the list bullet showing, too.
I tried some of the codes you suggested to others, but none works 100 %. With one of them I was able to get rid of the bullets, but the main problem is that it is not showing up horizontally.
Thanks a lot for your help!
]]>I tried the custom CSS you offered others, and none seem to work on my site. Can you help me remove the arrow bullets before the social share icons on my site? Thank you!

]]>Button does not display the posts
]]>Currently, the plugin loads in each social sharing icon individually – so it makes up to 9 calls just to grab the icons, consequently slowing the initial page time down.
I’ve improved page load times a fair bit by using one image sprite and some CSS instead – as only one image needs to be loaded instead of 9.
You are welcome to use the image sprite and CSS in your plugin if you like.
Here’s the CSS:
/* Custom Sprites */
.quickshare-email, .quickshare-facebook, .quickshare-googleplus, .quickshare-linkedin, .quickshare-pinterest, .quickshare-reddit, .quickshare-stumbleupon, .quickshare-tumblr, .quickshare-twitter { background: url(icons/share-icons.png) no-repeat !important; }
.quickshare-email { background-position: 0 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-facebook { background-position: -38px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-googleplus { background-position: -187px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-linkedin { background-position: -151px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-pinterest { background-position: -261px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-reddit { background-position: -298px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-stumbleupon { background-position: -224px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-tumblr{ background-position: -114px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-twitter { background-position: -76px 0 !important; width: 32px !important; height: 32px !important; }
.quickshare-container { margin: 2em 0 0.5em !important; border: 1px solid rgba(180, 180, 180, 0.5) !important; border-radius: 8px !important;}
And here’s the share-icons.png sprite image: share-icons.png
Just add the CSS in to the CSS file, and put the share-icons.png sprite into the /icons/ directory of the plugin and you are good to go!
HTH ??
]]>Hi Nick,
Thanks for an excellent plugin.
I’ve spotted a glitch, but also have the solution for you ??
In its current form, the output of the plugin fails W3 validation (W3 validator) due to the fact that “<” signs are inserted for some of the social networks like Facebook & Twitter.
Code example from quickshare.php at approx line 622:
<a href="https://facebook.com/sharer.php?u=<?php echo $url; ?>&t=<?php echo $title.'+<+'.$source; ?>"
The offending part is the: ‘+<+’ bit.
If you change the “<” between the two plusses to the html equivalent, it validates perfectly.
In this example, I’ve substituted the html code for a dash (–) instead of the “<“:
<a href="https://facebook.com/sharer.php?u=<?php echo $url; ?>&t=<?php echo $title.'+–+'.$source; ?>"
Hope that makes sense and helps you!
]]>Hi,
I had to deactivate the plugin. It seemed to work but the og::title tag had a full =”Username< /a>”
and the username was being printed to the webpage just below the sitename menu item in the toolbar as:
sername “/>
Or something like that.. I would have to enable it and look at it to be exact.. Just happened to get around to posting this now.
