Now that the author of the plugin has passed away in the beginning of the year, and the fact that the plugin has some problems, I was wondering if someone knew of a similar plugin for this kind of blogs.
]]>I was searching for a reason as to why the plugins creator stopped answering and came upon the news that he had passed away in January of this year. It’s sad that his work has been taken down and not passed on to another so that it could’ve lived on. It’s a loss for everyone as he was a really great guy and so helpful and supportive. The Recencio Book Reviews plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including, 1.66.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
For me, I don’t have other users, so I think I might be safe, but for sites that have contributors, this might be something to be aware of. Hope that the creator of this fine plugin can fix this. See

]]>Have tried pasting multiple different ISBN #s into new review page. My understanding from this page: https://www.greengeeks.com/tutorials/book-reviews-wordpress/. is fetch is supposed to grab title, cover, etc. Clicking fetch results in nothing. New review page remains completely blank. Have tried selecting both Google and Goodreads APIs. It is supposed to do something correct?

Would it be possible to add something somewhere so we see the Description/synopsis in addition to the title when mouse hovering an image?
Maybe in the custom css field or by editing the function.php (which i couldnt do as of now since i like the knowledge to do so but im trying to learn the basic ) or a way to use your plugin with Image Hover Effects Ultimate maybe?

I created a page showing the grid of all the book reviews I have. I uploaded images with similar size (about 700 x 1000). However, you can see how the full image isn’t displayed. I tried adding the height and width in the shortcode ([rcno-sortable-grid height=”500″ width=”200″]) but the behavior’s consistent. I’ve tried making the star rating transparent and subsequently disabled the star rating too but nothing seems to be working.

I’m finally rebuilding my site and in my staging environment have Recencio up and running alongside Genesis Author. I’m wondering if you may have found a way to make the change to Recencio or if I should begin manually moving things around. Hoping Recencio is a much better option moving forward, hopeful to support the plugin development.

One thing I’d like to get is a selector for changing order of films, ascendent or descendent, right after the taxonomies selector.

]]>I’m getting some very odd behaviour on the front page of my review site.
Firefox – shows capsules of all recent reviews, but the first two rows don’t show images. Images are loaded and available on review pages. Adding a new review makes the next image (two rows down) available.
Chrome – shows all images on front page, including all recent reviews
Brave – shows all images, but does not show the two most recent reviews at all
Edge – same as Brave – all images, but not the two most recent reviews
I can’t swear that this is specifically a Recencio issue, but I don’t see it with any other sites or pages. I’m baffled as to why this happens. I’ve cleared caches, disabled add-ons, etc. with no effect
]]>After editing some reviews, I noticed that suddenly one of the taxonomies was missing. It stil is there in the normal Post section, but not in the review part of the site.

I go to the plugin settings and it says my reviews index will be located at “my-site”.org/reviews, but when I try to go to that, it’s a 404. I was going to try and edit the look and feel of that page, but I cannot find it anywhere! or any setting that allows me to have them feed to a new page. Please let me know where I should be looking. Hello! I’m very new to all of this, tried once before but back at the drawing board.
In addition to Author, title, etc – I’ve added two more custom taxonomies, Tropes and Spice. I’m trying to figure out how to get them to physically appear on my single review, and I tried to place a short code ([recencio_book_review_field field_name=”Tropes”]) into a block on the single review page using Elementor, but it just reads the text code instead of fetching. I’m afraid to edit the plugin code because the internet says it’ll update and go away, lol.

Can I place the rcno book slider in the main content area of a page instead of sidebar? I’d like to have it be prominent on a page. (I’m a bit confused by classic/legacy/widgets/blocks …)

The command is:

I want to include also reviews. I tried to add ‘review’, ‘reviews’, rcno-review’, but none of them works.
In General Settings the singular form of the label is ‘Review’ and the plural is ‘Reviews’.
What is the slug I should use?
