Great- as before maybe any update might remove the message that this isn’t fully tested with latest wordpress.

I have been using this plugin for over 5 years now. Even though it has not been updated in over 3 years, it still works like a charm.
Using it on a MultiSite installation with subdomains and domain mapping. Never had any problems, warnings or errors whatsoever. ??

very very great plugin….!!
i′ve an nginx script which just allows my ip adress to enter wp-login.php + wp-admin
… but if a user wants to log in, he cant because the login.php is needed somehow.
anyway .. i′m no developer, so thats why i was looking for a script which can rewirte the wp-login.php during a loginprogress…
that plugin was my soloution!
my wp-login.php is still ip + htacess protectet (same as my wp-admin), so that everyone get 403 error.. but users still can login into my website if they use the regular login form on my frontpage.

Works right away and is extremely simple. This is something that should be built into the core of WordPress. Now just add a .htaccess password request along with brute force protection and you are well on your way to a very secure WordPress site. Huge props to the developers for creating this.

Update: bin immernoch super zufrieden! Limit Login Attempts Reloaded habe ich inzwischen deinstalliert, da es scheinbar nur auf die Standard-Adresse des Logins zugreift. Es blockt nicht mehr und ist v?llig inaktiv. Aber nach den Erlebnissen unten bin ich froh, endlich Ruhe zu haben… Manchmal kann es so einfach sein! Ich nutze das Plugin mit dem neuesten WP.
Ich hatte in der letzten Zeit massive Hacking-Angriffe (vornehmlich aus Russland), die kaum aufh?ren wollten, was auch immer ich ge?ndert habe… Erst mit diesem Plugin ist es besser geworden! Es gibt zwar immer noch Angriffe, aber kein Vergleich zu vorher!
Das Plugin ist leicht zu installieren, dann neuen Namen anlegen unter Einstellungen > Permalinks > Anmelde-URL, als Lesezeichen speichern (!) und es kommen ruhigere Zeiten… ??
Einzig mein Limit Login Attempts meldet keine Angriffe mehr – entweder weil keine mehr da sind (die log-Datei vom Server sagt da allerdings anderes) oder weil der Zugriff auf die Datei anders erfolgt.
Aber egal – mir ist wichtig, dass die Angriffe abnehmen und das haben sie definitiv! Künftig nur noch mit diesem Plugin!

Thanks and easy to use but not useful for me because you still see the “protected name” in the browser field. Because I use a private site where you automatically get the inlog-page. I was hoping you wouldn’t see the renamed inlog.php.

I use this on every site I build. It works well, adds no complications, and just makes sense. It’s not my only way of securing WP, but it’s one brick in the wall I build around my sites. Using this is just a no-brainer.

I have used this plugin for several years now, and I’ve installed this plugin on all my WordPress installs since I first tried it and I have done a Lot of installs over the years! I have Never had a single problem with this plugin! My malicious login attempts dropped drastically after I started using this plugin.

I’ve heard people claim many times that there is no security through obscurity. There is no such thing as absolute security – period. Deviating from the obvious wp-login-php helps me filter out well over 99% of false login attempts though.
This makes quite a difference in wasted bandwidth and server activity. I use it on all WP installations I do now.
