Hi again! So this is related to my feature request for adding the checkboxes to the Edit User screen (see this topic), but is actually kind of a bug.
Here is my current step-by-step issue:
User Role is equal to <custom role A>
This makes sense for why the ACF group disappeared since the location rule no longer matched, but as you can see, updating the user from the /wp-admin/user-edit.php?user_id=1
screen essentially reverted them back to their single, primary WordPress role. I think this is related to my feature request from earlier because I think if you add your checkboxes to this page, you could work your plugin magic to ensure the user’s multiple roles are saved when the user is updated from this screen.
My current workaround is to just re-assign the role back to the user after making my changes with the ACF group, because the ACF data does get saved for that user, it just no longer appears because the “location” rule no longer matches when the role is unset/reverted. It’s annoying because I will be editing users a lot, and will be training other non-developers on editing users, but I can manage with this workaround for now.
Cheers!
]]>Hi there! This is just a feature request, maybe two ??
For context, I’m using your plugin in combination with the Ultimate Member plugin (surprising how it doesn’t have the ability to add multiple roles to a single user consider it markets itself as the #1 user profile and membership plugin…).
When creating a new user on the /wp-admin/user-new.php
page, I would love it if this plugin “took over” WordPress’s default “Role” select field and converted it into checkboxes, or even a multi-select field, so that I could assign multiple roles right away. Or even below it as a separate field. I’m not picky. I’d just like to be able to do this from this screen. Ultimate Member adds their own select field labeled “Ultimate Member Role” to the bottom of this screen (except if I change their WordPress role to any of the roles created with Ultimate Member, their plugin’s select field is hidden, preventing me from giving them multiple roles created by their plugin, arrrggg).
Secondly, when I’m editing a user at /wp-admin/user-edit.php?user_id=1
, I’d love to see your checkboxes there too. When I first installed/activated your plugin, that was the first place I expected to see your multi-roles UI. Admittedly, I was excited and went straight to update my first user without reading any documentation. I was confused at first, then I went to the plugins page, clicked on your “Settings” link, and finally found where it had the instructions for each independent “Roles” link/page in the Users list page. It struck me as odd, but it gets the job done none-the-less!
Anyway, these are just nice-to-haves. Your plugin is doing exactly what I need! It’s just setup could be a bit more streamlined ??
Cheers!
]]>Hello,

]]>Hello, i found your plugin and for me it is working perfect, but i want to know if you are going to give future updates or will be abandoned?
Thanks
]]>I have a unique situation. I need 2 roles enabled on sign up. There is another plugin that worked perfectly allowing me to add secondary roles; however I had to add it to each individual user. That would be a large inconvenience for myself and my users. Is there any way I can set by default 2 roles at a time for all? I’m using a membership plugin that unfortunately has everyone set as subscriber. I need subscriber and seller features.
