This plugin is nice and quite easy to use. I managed to make myself a button with some code:

After testing a few other TTS plugins, I chose to use Say It! Except for a small issue with the voice speed setting from shortcode, which I hope will be fixed, the plugin is very useful!

HTML5 option does not work. Clicking on the say it button does nothing. Ditching this one. It’s amazing how much crap plugins are created and posted here. Quality level of wp.org is terrible.

To activate either Google or Amazon you have to submit your credit card and you have to pay at some stage if you use it.
I could not make the HTML5 work at all.

After trying out several TTS plugins for WP, my choice became Say It!. Not in the first place while it’s a free plugin, but mainly for its options to use either HTML5 browser voices, or Google-TTF or Amazon Polly.
Through the shortcodes the plugin is easy to use at a multilingual website and both whole page texts or selected blocks can be marked for read out loud.
Last, but certainly not least, the author gave me good and friendly support and updated his plugin also to the current version of WP (5.5.3 while writing this).

For me, Say It! is the best free WordPress TTS plugin out there! Very simple settings, extremely light-weight, visually pleasing UI (love that small red play button), can speak any selected text in your blog post, does the job so well on both desktop and mobile phone. Thanks for making this great plugin! It definitely deserves a 5 star!

Excellent plug-in with an hidden advantage. I use it for a language training website I have.
The plugin is extremely easy to use as all you need are the two small short codes at beginning and end of your text. The advantage here is you can keep certain portions of a text audio free. Another great feature is the ability to have an audio text covering several paragraphs, insert a picture and then continue with the audio.
The plugin also works in the quiz plugins I use, allowing one to create good audio quizzes.
It is also aesthetically pleasing as no “listen” or “play” buttons are seen on the page. One simply clicks on the text and starts listening.
Probably the best advantage: the settings allow one to adjust the speed of the audio – an important feature when using for language training work.
This was a new and debut plugin at the time of writing (April 2019) and I am glad it exists – it ticks all my boxes. Well done!
