Plugin can be updated without problems from Shariff at github. Just replace the files in /wp-content/plugins/shariff-sharing/dep/

The plugin does what it should, but it installs the Zend Framework as well as a library called Guzzle in the plugin directory.

I have switched to the “Shariff Wrapper” plugin, which has the same functionality, but with far less code.

We have 2300 blogs, 10000 users and some germans users (260 admins bloggers) =)
But unfortunatly we can’t use this plugin for a few problems.

1) The principle of Shariff is commendable but questionable, indeed he make requests at a frequency given by the blogger to servers Facebook, Google, Twitter…
This generates a lot of traffic (it is still possible), but see 2) B).

2) The configuration of the plugin gives us some problems, from the point of view of our sysadmin: A blogger can change too many parameters.
?A) You can add a url with the “Default Image Location” field, this field is vulnerable (Stored XSS), a blogger can execute anything to ALL
readers (including us, with admins accounts).
?B): The blogger can change the TTL, it is likely that bloggers shorten that time which defaults to 60 seconds in an increased number of requests.
?C): nice gift for the end… A blogger, thanks to the “Temp Directory” field, can create Shariff files and .dat files in any folder accessible in R/W by www-data (The user of the Web server). Specifically, a blogger can create folders and files in other folders bloggers, without protection, and safeguards.

Great evolution from 2-click. Works fine.

I’m at the moment missing some configs too. Like include/exclude on certain pages.
Also I would like to be able to set the location of the buttons in my template manually.

The plugin worked great but seems to be dead now. There is another plugin for Shariff available which seems to be more alive.

edit 08/27/2016: I have to cut my five star review to three. The plugin is still working and looking fine but it’s maintenance is too low (last updated one year ago; haven’t been tested with new WordPress versions; no support at all). It’s probably still a good solution to some people but not to me anymore. Sorry, but I had to switch to another plugin.

Not being a friend of the whole social media bubble i accept that people have become used to sharing snippets of noteworthy information by simply clicking one button. This plugin is definitely the right way to do it. Easy to customize.

Nice evolution of the 2-Click-Social-Media-Buttons project. Works great and is much easier for my readers. It has a nice light weight code and clean HTML. Unfortunately the back end doesn’t look that nice and has not that many advanced settings. But it’s a nice way to start. Keep up the good work!
