This plugin has conflicts with many plugins that use shrotcodes, and all it does is break your pages. No criteria for what a “broken” shortcode is – it’s completely arbitrary. The plugin just decides, and if you need that shortcode you’re out of luck. You need to manually whitelist shortcodes, which can take forever for complex sites, and since the word “broken” doesn’t seem to mean anything, your site can break before you even find out this plugin scrubbed out a shrotcode. Ultimately it’s a waste of time and causes undue stress.

The difference between front-end removal and database removal wasn’t made clear. The lite version of this plugin doesn’t permanently remove the shortcodes; if you uninstall the plugin they will come back.

If you are using ‘Q-translate X’ do not install this plugin, it runs and cleans shortcodes it considers broken before you realize or authorize it to do so. As a result, my website displays both language and titles etc on the same place! Fortunately this was a staging site and i have database backup to restore. But i have already wasted 1 hour because of this.
If settings were first displayed in order to pick what you want it to clean and then press something to do this it would be ok. but working like this is a disaster.

This plugin is my favorite kind – it’s got one job and it’s doing it in the best way possible. I gave the free version a quick try and felt like the plugin looked promising enough, bought the pro version and within 5 minutes, I got rid of all the Visual Composer shortcodes that were left in the database of the site I’m currently migrating to Divi.
There were some false positives (basically all of Divi’s shortcodes), but the plugin has a filter option and allows you to just define shortcodes that should NOT be stripped from the database.
After cleaning up the database, I could deactivate the plugin again and my database was of course still intact. So it’s not like you’re forced to add unneccessary bloat to your website – you can get rid of the plugin again after it did its job. Like I said, my favorite kind of plugin…
As a suggestion: An easy way to just copy / paste shortcodes from the overview page to the filter would be great. That would have saved me an additional 60 seconds. ??

I am very impressed with this plugin! While not perfect (it left <em></em> tags in certain heading shortcodes that were italicized), it took care of 99% of the work for me by simply activating! Couldn’t ask for more! Thank you!

Free version is useless. It only highlights the shortcodes in the text. You need to manually remove every code yourself, unless you pay for the pro version. A bit deceptive, since the video shows that you can do it automatically.

Shortcode Cleaner is awesome and the Customer Service is even better. I downloaded the Shortcode Cleaner and it worked cleaning the codes but I had a minor error in the backend. I contacted support and after 3 hours of testing the Developer fixed a minor code issue and created an update for everyone in the Free and Paid Version.
This is the best customer service I have ever experienced with a plugin developer and I can say if there are any other plugins created by this developer I will definitely purchase.

I am moving a few sites from old Divi/Visual Composer layouts to Beaver Builder (which doesn’t use shortcodes) and this plugin just saved me probably 40+ hours of having to remove the old shortcodes to build the new site.
