I get an error:
“unable to unarchive ‘ name of file’ into ‘ name of directory’ “
There seems to be some reason I cant unarchive a backup…
]]>I’ve been using this plugin for a long time, but right now I realized something that might be terrible: The backup file is directly accessible, so a possible attacker might open your backupfiles if he find a way to scan your folders. ]]>Although backups continue to work on my site (I’m using Simple Backup v2.7.8 w/PHP v5.6.4 and MySQL v5.5.38 for debian-linux-gnu x86_64 in WordPress v4.1) these are now accompanied by the following error messages:
Checking Database…

Warning: mysql_query(): A link to the server could not be established in /home/kanjialive2/kanjialive.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-backup/simple-backup-manager.php on line 358
Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/kanjialive2/kanjialive.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-backup/simple-backup-manager.php on line 359
As best as I can tell, the back-up is still executing correctly:
Executing Command:
mysqldump –single-transaction -u kanjialivecom3 -p'<deleted>’ kanjialive_com_3 -h mysql.kanjialive.com | zip > /home/kanjialive2/kanjialive.com/simple-backup/db_backup_2015-01-29_113655.sql.zip
The MySQL dump file looks ok. Are these error messages something I should be concerned about? I’ve seen the same thing happen on a different, identically configured WP site.

Just installed simple backup and setup the settings as I do for many other wordpress websites but I am getting this error:

]]>We have had a problem on one of our sites (the only one using Simple Backup) where the main .htaccess file was constantly being rewritten whenever the site was loaded. I could open my FTP client, load the site in a browser, and see the date/time stamp on the htaccess file update to the date/time I had just visited the site.
This caused issues occasionally where the htaccess file would become corrupt as it was trying to update itself over and over and over.
Turns out that something the Simple Backup plugin was causing this. I am not sure what, but as soon as I disabled the plugin, that all stopped.
Has anyone else had an issue like this?

If you want to download these files and you have a common download directory to put the files, the domain name would be nice to determine which files are which if you have multiple domains to back up.

]]>Hi Guys,
I am doing work on a client’s site (who had another developer customize the Twenty Twelve theme without using a child theme. So, when updating WordPress core, Twenty Twelve was overwritten. I had done a backup this morning with Simple Backup, so I was just going to unzip the backup and install the theme from the backup. The problem is, that the active theme was not included in the backup, so my client’s customizations are gone.
Any ideas? Thanks!

]]>Hi, I’ve been using this plug for a few weeks without a problem. But when I tried for the first time to Copy to FTP the transfer of the backup file hung at 56.2% and will now neither complete nor can I abort it.
I’ve deleted the file from the server but it still shows up under FTP Server Backup Files along with two other (unnamed) files that seem to have been created at the same time. I cannot get rid of these and get a error message each time I try to delete them from the dashboard.
I tried deactivating then deleting and reinstalling the plugin but it didn’t have any effect.
Can you help? I’d like to continue using the plugin if I can avoid this in future.

]]>Hello,
Thanks for creating such a simplistic and well coded plugin, it works just as it should.
I was wondering whether you had plans on implementing a user friendly way to set the back-up location?
Personally I think that would be a fine addition to the plugin as it would allow you to keep files outside of the web-root, a relatively simple feature that would not clog up the settings of the plugin, and if not could easily be set to use the default path.
I know a few developer friends of mine who use your script (who recommended you) and they agree that this feature is missing as would be gratefully received if integrated.
Either way, I will be upgrading to pro version if not for any other reason than to support its continued development.
Keep up the good work,
Paul
]]>Greetings –
I have a domain with several add on domains, and it would be handy to be able to direct Simple Backup to skip making backups of those domains (they’re backed up separately), and to have it skip making backups of the backup directory in the ‘mother’ domain. Is that possible in the free or the paid version of the plugin? Thanks –
How do I restore from a backup?
]]>I had to recover from a catastrophe over the weekend and luckily I had recent backups made by Simple Backup. However, the file system backup does not seem to include “dot” files. For example, my .htaccess wasn’t in there and this caused me a lot of grief as the “restored” WordPress site was really broken without it. Is there an option to include these files?
