Looks like this is a great plugin – found it on a site I’ve adopted – but it’s showing up as not updated for more than 3 years, and WordFence is throwing ‘abandoned?’ warnings. Is the plugin still current, and testd on more recent versions of WordPress, in which case please could you update/bump?

I want to collect names, phone and email of download visitors but I then want them to immediately receive the download without having to wait for an email from the website. Does your plugin do that?

We have been using simple file downloader for our site (https://www.bananafry.com) from a long time.

Recently we had a server migration to a new service provider. The download is not working after the migration.

All other plugins are working fine and good.

Please help, we are in need of emergency help

Hello. I may be missing something but I can’t seem to figure out from the info provided how to add an actual “Download” button instead of just a link. You don’t even need the plugin to add a simple link to a page or post, right? Could you help me out with this?

I am using this plugin for downloading documents, really its awesome.

But it seems on safari iPad and iPhone file is not going to download, except downloading its opening in current tab.

How can I fix this issue?

In other hosting services the plugin works well but under Aruba Linux Hosting it fails. When I download a file (I tried PDF and ZIP) it is downloaded but it’s corrupted. The kbytes are ok but it can’t be open..

Probably there is some php function not allowed in Aruba hostings.

When I download File, it does not complete File Size is over 1 GB. How I can fix it.

I have added a pdf document to media library and I can see it in the dropdown list. Logged out and logged back in but still doesn’t show. What is the key to having media show in the dropdown list?

I am having trouble with The Simple File Downloader plugin. When I Generate Download link, the link just opens in another tab of my browser rather than downloading the file to my computer. This happens in Chrome and Safari but not in Firefox.

How do I get it to download to my computer and not open up in a browser window.

Hi,

Instead of listing the images as a textual dropdown box, could you not open the media gallery so one can see the images and then select the image to download. A lot easier than looking at hundreds of entries in a dropdown list.
Eg the same interface as the standard wordpress “Add Media” button in the admin editor.

is there any possibility to modify the “simple-file-downloader.php” to select only the .pdf files?
Or better, if it can be possible with a “select” in the window.
I’ve got a lot of pictures and pdf and it take a long time to use the select and find the pdf.

I am unable to upload any files using “Simple File Downloader”. I am able to select the file using the “Select File” option. But then, nothing happens. I am also unable to drag any files onto the box. Nothing happens if I do so.

I am using the latest version of the plugin. Browser is the latest version of Chrome.

I have installed and activated Simple File Downloader, v. 1.0.4. The info at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-file-downloader/screenshots/ seems to discuss placing a download button on a Page but I want to place a simple link such as “Download this MP3” just below the playback progress bar on most Posts on the site such as https://www.natunelist.net/brudmarch-bridal-march-in-c/. How do I go about this?

I only want people to be able to download this once.

Hello.

Nice little tool. But when adding a file there are some things to iimprove:
1) It shows by far not all files from my mediathek, e.g. i have some pdfs there, they don’t show up in the list
2) please show also the file extension. Reason: i have some swf in my mediathek and a corresponding jpg which will be shown on the page. I don’t know which file is which type as both are named the same but are not recognizable without the extension
3) Test and if needed, adopt to 4.2.2

The plugin was overwriting all other media buttons … I found the problem .. On line 102
function editor_download_button()

It should be
function editor_download_button($context)

Without that parameter, it will replace the context rather than append to it.
