Hi there,

Your plugin works great with one exception.

When I activate your plugin, the WordPress Default Avatars found in WP Menu > Settings > Discussion are modified from this to this. In short, your plugin replaces all WP Default Avatars with our WP Admin Avatar.

Please review and kindly provide a fix.

Great plugin. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work on the frontend.

Specifically, the backend properly displays our uploaded image (i.e., Users’ profile picture). The frontend, however, does not. It’s currently displaying the Gravatar assigned to our Users’ email address.

I’ve used your plugin in the past and it worked just perfect: simple and smart!

But now, creating a new site (running on latest WP version 6.4.3) I see the option to upload an image in the User menu, but when I upload an image it is not being displayed at all.

Although the page says “User updated” on top, all it shows in the user profile image section is the text “You’re seeing the default profile picture.” (and even this is not being displayed, there is simply nothing) and the buttons “Select” and “Remove”.

Is there a chance to get this plugin working on WP 6.4.3 and later?

I just wondering how can I add the field to upload the avatar (using yhis plugin) from the front page (User profile page). I use one theme that allows users to edit some profile data. Would be great if I can integrate the field (pasting the code in them’s file) to show avatar option in the user profile page. Many thanks for any suggestions!

I’d like to show the image set with your plugin in the default “Author box” module that comes with Elementor. However it doesn’t show up cause it supports only the Gravatar image.

I uploaded the plugin, I see the option in the User menu but when I upload an image it doesn’t show the image at all. All it shows is a blank with the default avatar and the buttons “Select” and “Remove” and it doesn’t propagate to the rest of the site. Just to be clear: I am trying to upload an avatar in the User page for each of my users.

Plugin works fine. It only doesn’t replace the image in author page meta.

Is that something that can be fixed?

We’re trying to migrate from WP User Avatar (version 2.2.16, the latest from the old author) to “Simple Local Avatar” without losing the avatars that already exist.

We found a script for that purpose on

but unfortunately our hoster doesn’t provide a wp-cli. We tried
installing it ourself but that was also unsuccessful (the script aborted
at line 18).

So my question is: Is there another, possibly even easier way to import old
avatars?

Hi, I have a WPForms form that allows you to create a user and upload a photo of him by associating the form fields with the user form metadata. Could I do the same with the photo url so that the avatar url is fetched from the WPForms form field?

I was able to assign an avatar to a user as little as 2 or 3 days ago. Today I cannot. I see you made an update yesterday and suspect this is the reason.

I tried using the WordPress Twenty Twenty theme and disabling all other plugins. The button still did not work.

Is it possible to have an elevated user, such as an Admin, assign avatar photos for other users? We have a bunch of users who need their photos changed on our WordPress installation, but we want to do it for them.

hi, it is changing the subsite user profile pic in a multisite, but not syncing with network users in multisite. normally in multisite if we change the a user details in one site it ll sync everywhere the same user in the network , but the profile picture is only changing the subsite user data, but not the network user data

Since the 3.7 update when We try to insert an image to a post (classic editor) nothing happens.

I’ve deactivated the plugin and works again.

I’ve tried with v 3.6 and the bug happens again. I’ve had to restore the 3.5 version to make it work again.

After the update of the plugin Simple User Avatar from version 3.2 to 3.5 or 3.6
the image (avatar) of some users is broken in beckend and not visible in frontend.

I need a plugin which will let me set the user avatar as larger than the standard thumbnail.

Can your plugin do that? If not, can you tell me how to do it?

Does this plugin not work with DIVI image module?

If I insert the image module and select “Autor profile picture” as dynamic image, I get the default image from secure.gravatar.com

In the back-end the images of the users are shown correctly.
Any tip?

I added Simple User Avatar after getting rid of WP User Avatar and now my profile pics don’t show up after a user registers on the site and uploads it using Gravity Forms. I think I need to create a new custom field in the User Registration feed to map it correctly. What meta field should I use?

now when WP User Avatar suddenly got hubris and replaced their original “do one thing and do it well”-solution, people are scouring for a replacement. This one is, as the title suggests, very simple, which is great.

With that in mind, I come here knowing that feature requests might be out of scope, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Might there be a possibility for this plugin to include a shortcode to get the user profile upload to appear elsewhere than the dashboard profile page?

A bonus question would be if there’s a chance of setting the default image with with this plugin in the future?

Hi, It seems like when I use this Plugin to Pick out an Avatar, it doesnt carry over the Alt Text of the image. This means that all Pages have a missing Image Alt Text. Is there some way to fix this?

We are support avatars for bbpress powered by WP User Avatar plugin now. But for us like the idea of choosing an avatar from the own library as you did.
Question: Will the old avatars (library and user relations) disappear if we install your plugin? or no such danger?

Hey, your plugin is great and I’m very appreciative of its free availability, but after using ti for 6 months there is now a constantly appearing donation request that just cannot be dismissed no matter what I do.

How can I get rid of this from a client site please?
