I wrote this plugin because I needed it, and it works great for me. I had been modifying underConstruction slowly but surely – customizing the output and adding a log in form. But I was finding that I needed two features that seemed not to be available anywhere.

The first is a “timed launch” feature. Several times I have had clients who wanted to “go public” with the website on a particular time and date – perhaps to coincide with a press conference or a meeting presentation. As it wasn’t always good timing for me to launch the site exactly on my client’s schedule, I created a “scheduled launch” feature.

On a different note, I have occasionally (just often enough to find it highly annoying) had clients who happily and promptly paid a deposit and seemed to appreciate the effort I made to launch their sites in a timely manner, but then somehow forgot to put that final check in the mail.

With the automatic “site suspended” feature of this plugin, I can honestly let clients know that their sites will be automatically suspended after some number of weeks if payment is not received. So far, adding this language to my proposals and my final invoice has done the trick, but I’m very happy to have it backed by actual software. Finally, the plugin keeps itself hidden from everyone but you, unless you want to share it with them. That way you can give a client full admin privileges without allowing them to easily access or disable it.
