Delete this plugin it is no longer supported. There has been a security vulnerability since November 2022 and no replies in the support forum about it. Version 4.1 is said to be released but there is no link for it.
There is a known vulnerability in this plugin that according to https://patchstack.com/database/vulnerability/social-media-widget/wordpress-social-media-widget-plugin-4-0-remote-file-inclusion?_a_id=350
is patched in a 4.1 version of the plugin, however it does not seem to be listed in the plugin directory. Any thoughts?

“WordPress Social Media Widget Plugin <= 4.0 – Remote File Inclusion”
Hello!
I have this plugin installed on a few websites, and it started showing a vulnerability warning this week. It’s a “Remote file inclusion” warning, here is a screenshot https://ibb.co/h8V51GG
Any chance an update will be coming soon to fix that?
We’re adding in links to all the socials, but your plugin doesn’t appear to have Soundcloud support (icon is generic one)
Could this please be added?
Cheers,
Andrew

I really appreciate this plugin, and use it on all my sites. However, I’ve used up all 12 Custom Services on my home site. Is there any chance of updating the plugin to add more social media sites, and/or increasing the number of Custom Services?
Also, I’d like to be able to reorder Custom Services; which currently isn’t possible.
For reference, here are the services I’m currently adding which might make good additions to the core set:
TikTok
Spotify
PayPal
Patreon
Amazon Music
Twitch
Discord
Streamlabs Tip
CD Baby
StarNow
MuseScore
Triple J Unearthed
Thanks,
Graham
All the icons are displaying in my widget area, that’s new with the new release of WP 5.3.2 Should display only those which have a link assigned.
Hey! I installed the Social Media Widget on my website https://picturise.biz and used some custom icons I created. But the icons shown on the website have enabled by default a strikethrough, that has a responsive disabling effect when hovering over with the cursor.
I can’t possible find any setting to disable the strikethrough setting. Is there anyway I could do that?
Thanks in advance!
Paul
This website has an SSL certificate, but many pages are showing as Not Secure because of the image files associated with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Using Firefox, you can get details on the media files that are preventing the page from being secure. Here’s the Facebook link: https://communityhouse.org/wp-content/plugins/social-media-widget/images/default/32/facebook.png.
I’ve been able to fix other media file issues by simply changing the code from http to https, but the plugin files are not readily available. It’s affecting a number of pages.
How can I fix this?
Tom
I have a BoldGrid WordPress website and on my server/Home Directory I found three large .tmp files and I’m trying to figure out how they were generated. Boldgrid support told me none of their plugins generate .tmp files. Do you know if the Social Media Widget would generate .tmp files.

Hello,
I am a French Webmaster, I propose to translate your extension “Social Media Widget” in French.
Are you going to test your “Social Media Widget” extension with WordPress 5.2.4?
But I can not find the place to fix your extension and have the following message: this extension has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.
Recently, I just translated:
_ Nimble Builder Page: a page editor for WordPress.
_ Customizr Pro: a WordPress theme.
…
In exchange for my services, because I find your extension very good and practical, I will ask you, in return, a license your extension PRO for Unlimited websites.
What do you think ?
If you are interested, please answer me.
Thank you for writing to me at this email: [email protected]
Thank you for your reply.
See you soon

Would you consider updating the “out-of-the bo” Instagram icon?
It is their former branding ( brown icon instead of the new pink one). I can get around this by doing a custom icon, but it would be great if it were correct in the regular Instagram line.
Noah,
We love your widget and would like to keep using it, if possible.
We are testing in a “development” environment to be sure our theme works with upgrading to PHP 7.2 (now 5.6) and WP 5.03 (now 4.9.9.):
https://visualimpact72.wpengine.com/
Your widget now shows all the icons available, even when there is no ‘link’ in the settings area (we even tried to remove the “http//” in the settings area, but they still all showed up).
Is there some way to ‘remove’ the icons we are not using?
[ Note: This is how it is supposed to look (on our “live” site):

Thanks, ahead of time, for your help on this!

On all pages where I used this widget, my icons recently changed from the small boxed ones to an even smaller basic un-boxed black icon.
If i adjust the page in any way, it reverts back to the old ones that I want. As i have hundreds of pages, individually is a bit of a pain. Any ideas how to resolve in bulk?
I moved the widget to a from right header to top of the blog, and now ALL OF MY BLOG POSTS HAVE DISAPPEARED. Sorry for all caps.
I changed the blog from view newest posts to view static page, and at least I can see my posts again. But what the heck do I do? I’m not a coder.
Hi,
We are going through an audit of all our plugins for upcoming GDPR and we are trying to find out what cookies your plugin might use?
And what if there is any would they be collecting or tracking? As we will need to add them to our privacy page and allow ‘Opt-in’ and ‘Opt-out’
We need to work out what is needed and what isn’t in regards to cookie control
Many thanks
I’ve enabled Facebook, Twitter, G+, Youtube, and RSS with follow, and it works for all links, except the G+ one, where rel=nofollow is not added, but instead rel=publisher.
I shared the below post to my personal linkedin via the plugin buttons on the post and it doesn’t show the linkedin share count like the FB share count. It doesn’t show that it was shared at all.
Why would it do this?
I am using wordpress on a 1&1 as a Managed installation. I have tried to follow your FAQ instructions on how to use Custom Icons, but the process fails at the point where you say to go to the “Widget Control Panel (Admin -> Appearance -> Widgets)” and look for “Custom Icons”. There is no such option to choose from in the widgets list.
Yes, I have “Social Media Icons installed and activated. It is actually in use in other areas on my site. All I want is a custom FACEBOOK icon. All of your icons are one letter icons like “F”. I need a custom icon that is actually the word “FACEBOOK”. I have the icon and it is named “facebook.png. I just can’t figure out how to get your widget to access it. Thanks for the help.
Hi,
I had my website setup by a webdesigner but now make most changes myself. Now, i would like to change the text associated with the social media share button widgets I have on my website (see attached link). But I cannot find where to make the change in WordPress. The only thing I found was the widget TFuse text:

But I cannot find the actual text field associated with the share link, so that I can change the text. I would greately appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Hello
$I was wondering if you’re planning to add Houzz Social MEdia?
https://www.houzz.fr
Best regards
Firstly let me say a big “Thank You!” for this plugin. It’s awesome!
I use the Title/Alt tag feature on my comedy site to show amusing tool-tips about all the ways to connect with me. However it’s not available for the Custom Services.
I also notice that you can’t re-order Custom Services like you can everything else.
And it would be great to have Spotify supported under “Music & Audio” and PayPal.me under “Business”. I really want to create a tool tip saying “Show me the money!”
Any chance of adding this please?
Thanks,
Graham
Can you add support for google scholar profiles?

Can I select just a few icons to display, rather than all of them? How can I do that?
Is there a way to convert the needed icons into a single image sprite to assist with load requests (eg: PageSpeed)?

Hey there, love the plugin!
Can I add it to my header.php file? Could you give me the line of code? Thanks!
Thanks, I am new to this forum and I have a question about removing a single Icon from five that I installed in my Header. I had someone add these for me but he has disappeared and I might be wrong but I can deactivate one or all by removing the url in the Social Media Widget but it appears to delete just one Icon image then you would have to remove them all and then re-install the ones you want.
I assume that when you activate this Plugin you select all the ones that you want and it creates them in the Widget then you have to add the url for each one, that is how I interpreted everything.
I can deactivate it but the image stays on every page, I did not want it but he added it anyhow, so for now I will leave it as is. I am only a novice user of WordPress and have built 3 sites for my business.
Thanks
